| Chris Logan User Info... | First off, the management of Logan's extends sincere apologies to all those disappointed by the cancellation of the Ted Leo/Manitoba show. Eyewitness accounts tend to suggest the entire incident was set off by some jackass throwing a can at a passing police car, which led the police to enter the bar in a bad mood, understandably enough. Atomique and SOS Productions deserve kudos for bringing so much great music to Victoria, and were unable to address the concerns of patrons on Saturday night, due to the fact we were compelled to shut the bar down immediately. They've started a thread on the Music Chitchat section of this board for those concerned about refunds. It's a sad commentary that so many people were robbed of an opportunity to see the entirety of a show they were so obviously looking forward to, due to the actions of one anti-social idiot. - Mon, 29 Sep 2003 2:14pm | ||
| let down User Info... | Lakeboat was fine and well lubricated. Ted Leo got about four songs into his killer set when they turned on the lights and told everybody to leave. Apparently someone in the outdoor section pitched a beer can at a patrol car. Cops came in, did a head count and shut them down for being above capacity. (Hard to believe, but someone said that Logan's is legally only allowed to have 85 people.) I guess their luck ran out. It was gonna be so, so good. Ended so, so bad. - Mon, 29 Sep 2003 2:21pm | ||

| Zippgunn User Info... | Well now hang on a second here. Somebody (apparently OUTSIDE the club) threw a beer can at a cop? Last I checked Logan's doesn't serve beer in cans so how could this incident have been linked to the bar? I'm assuming that the beer & wine store sells beer in cans so why didn't the cops shut down the beer store instead of the bar? Sounds to me like the beer can incident had no connection to the club at all, but I wasn't there so I can't say. But it seems to me that the cops could have figured the above details out if they were so inclined. They are the fairest bar in town, they never fuck the bands around, they always let bands play there (even when they are shit!) because Chris is too nice a guy to say no and most people have a good time at shows there. This ONE night something very bad happened, but simular things will happen to most bars at some point. I'd hardly say their reputation is in "tatters" Mr.Greg. However, it is most convient that one can remain for the most part anonamous on Live Vic isn't it? Hey here's an idea...instead of crying out your heartfelt convictions on these bulletin boards why not try and phone Logan's (#360-2711), ask to speak to Chris, and DEMAND your appology right from him? | created to kill User Info... | personaly i think it sucks that the show was stopped but if it were my six bucks i wouldnt give a shit,lets face it its not like logans is going to get shut down every fucking night and continue to screw people out of cash. it was one isolated incident and it shouldnt reflect on chris or the bar.ive seen way worse happen in way worse bars. i do think that the most that should have happened that night is that they should have carted the jackass who tossed the can into the tank.and i dont think ive ever seen a bar follow the capacity or fire code or liquor licence sufficiantly once in victoria besides logans. the following week there was a lot of people there, and others were outside waiting to get in. but because of what had happened they had to try to keep it to a minimum so they wouldnt get shut down again. chris didnt have to offer anyones money back at all but hes doing it in good faith so i think you should be happy with your 6 bucks and shut the fuck up or get nothing at all if your gonna be an ass about it......... or beat 6 bucks out of the guy who tossed the can - Tue, 14 Oct 2003 4:08pm | ||
