great show! excellent turnout for a Tuesday. Hibria absolutely crushed. That bass player is an animal! First time ever playing that stage and it was a nice stage and all but the monitors were virtually non existant volume wise, and I had my amp turned down to 3 and I still couldnt hear the monitor, so maybe an upgrade in that department would be a good thing. As you know Rev, stage monitors are crucial to a tight set!

Reaver and Archon both kicked some serious arse as well, but having played over 20 shows with Archon Legion in the past couple of months I gotta say, these guys do keep gettin tighter, and deserve a wicked Canadian tour with a band of the calibre of Hibria!

All in all.. it was fun playin in Scarface's mansion! - Wed, 27 May 2009 1:22pm

Alright I think I'll just repost my comment in the up and coming section thread into here...

Dude I wish the V-lounge would have more metal shows. It was a great venue to play. The stage was HUGE! Giant screens in the backround! Smoke! The only problem was with nothing coming out of the monitors.. but this was probably the first time I was able to hear what I was playing lol.

Also was impressed as fuck for the turnout for the entire night. Thanks so much to everyone who came out early to catch us, it made our night.

I only caught 2 Unleash the Archers songs since I had to load gear and bring it back to the jam spot but it sounded like they were on their game despite having Scott (drummer) pushed way up in front with them lol. I forget the name of the opener song but it is tight as fuck and has a really sweet mid section breakdown type deal. Good sound all around for all of the bands. I'm also looking forward to them putting a cd out since I'll def be in line for a copy.

Archon Legion was next and I finally got to hear some new stuff from them. The opener, once again, was fantastic! I had to get in there and cause a bit of havok during Battle Ride too... that song just has the muthafuckin groove! All bands seemed to be firing on all cylinders (and if they weren't I may have been too drunk to notice). Sky is a madman drummer. I've never seen the drummer headbang like that.

Hibria had their shit together. True professionals. They had their whole act DOWN, from the virtuoso playing (and singing), to crowd interaction sing alongs, to choreographed headbanging and movement. I admit I had never heard much of them before since I've never been huge on the power metal but these guys made it look effortless. Obviously a lot of time and dedication was put into their art. They reminded me why I bought a wireless for my guitar.. too bad I didnt use mine!

Anyways, I had a fucking blast and I really hope that a show that can match this one comes up sometime soon cuz I want seconds - Wed, 27 May 2009 4:33pm

Fuckin rights! this show kicked ass!!
Slight technical difficulties. The vocal mic cut out for a little while during Reaver's set. Not sure if it was the sound guy messing with the board or what. Not a big deal.

Reaver- I haven't heard you guys live since the beginning of the year and holy fucking improvement!! You boys are sounding better and better. Hey Bo, you actually took your hat off during a set, I'll be damned.

Unleash the Archers- great as always! Archon- I love you guys! Never get tired of hearing you live. The pit was insane for your set and I enjoyed every minuet of it!

Hibria- Welcome to Canada! you guys have your shit together and will have an awesome tour. Cheers and good luck.

Venue was nice- I found it funny that the dress code sign outside said no bandanas, ripped or dirty clothing- I was wondering how the hell most of us got in there. I guess they make exceptions for metal. Some sound technical difficulties, but understandable. I've been struggling with monitors for ages- always find a way to fuck up on me.

Awesome night- good booze, good tunes. good friends.

Nice re-meeting you Mike! - Thu, 28 May 2009 9:56am

That was a really fun show to play, I must say. I was a bit sick, so I couldn't rock out to the other bands as much as I would have liked to, but phenomenal sets all around!

My only complaint was the sound. I'm not going to sugar coat it: there was fuck all for on-stage sound. In fact, I'm pretty sure the sound guy didn't even turn on the monitors. Same shit as at Evolution...coincidence? Absolutely not. Same guy.

I don't know how it sounded out front during our set, but for everyone else's set, it was mixed like a fucking pop band: all vocals, nothing else; couldn't even hear the guitars at a metal show.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not ever one to slag the sound guy, but this is not the first time this has happened with this guy and it is inexcusable at a show of this caliber.

Ok I'm done ranting, bring on the backlash. - Thu, 28 May 2009 5:17pm

I had no idea it was the same guy. I saw him trying to "fix" the monitors, but was pretty lost on how to do it. Have the monitors ever been an issue before at the V-Lounge? or does this sound guy just need to get it together? - Thu, 28 May 2009 9:49pm
