Not much to say other than holy fcuk! These guys sounded exactly like what you hear when you are listening to the album, dead solid and to the point. I had the honor of meeting the singer and bass player after the show. It was amazing to see how accessible these guys are for the caliber of band they are. Maybe someday if we are lucky enough they will come to Vic and hopefully there will be more of a selection for merch! The set list was something close to the below and they played Vacuity for the first time live in North America according to Joe for the first encore:

Oroborus
The Heaviest Matter On The Universe
Backbone
Love (?)
From The Sky
A Sight to Behold
The Art Of Dying
Drum Solo
Clone
Flying Whales
Toxic Garbage Island (?)
The Way of All Flesh
Terra Inc

The Chariot were beyond bad. Almost drove me out of the venue with their audial garbage.

Toughed it out however, and glad I did. Gojira were excellent. Watching Mario Duplantier alone would have been worth the cost of admission . - Tue, 19 May 2009 3:51pm

Got there as The Charishit were sound checking. I knew I would not be enjoying their set, but when they started it was even worse than I could have ever imagined. I was very dismayed when some people actually cheered after they finished their "songs".
They swing their instruments around a bunch and have pretend aggression and energy on stage. Any reasonably intelligent person can see that they do this to cover up the fact that they offer nothing to the audience.
I did end up leaving the room due to their bullshit "performance".
If they are on a bill you plan on seeing, plan to arrive after they finish. Tied with Poison The Well as worst band I've seen live.
Gojira? Well they fucking ruled. Got chills 7 or 8 times through their set due to their songs being fucking wicked and their energy being legitimate and intense.
The only other bands to do that to me live have been Opeth and SYL. Gojira are on par with them easily.
Worth every penny I hemorrhaged to get over there and then some.
My only gripe, they didn't play 4 songs that I really, really wanted to hear. That's usually the way it goes. - Tue, 19 May 2009 4:18pm

Yes, GOJIRA slayed! They played "Vacuity" whence they played the Commodore in Nov of last year, openeing for In Flames.

& yes, the Chariot were easily one of the worst bands I've ever seen. There is absolutely no way their guitars & bass would've stayed in tune/stayed intonated properly due to the beatings the gitars took. At one point the bass player was kneeing the back of his bass. Retards. Not that the tuning/intonation mattered, they each could've been playing a totally differnt song & you wouldn't have been able to tell the difference. Diarrhea is diarrhea. - Tue, 19 May 2009 10:59pm

Gojira was something to behold...
Blew me the fuck away!
There is something to be said for a band that plays with a smile on their face... not to mention their "rock's giving" fist bumps during their fret tapping aunslaught.
I apprechiate when a band makes you feel that they are truley grateful for your support and attendance.
