ok this is what i just read....(i couldnt agree more...)

550 tickets sold, so about 700 people at peak.

A quick band-by-band recap:

BigMuff - For the only band to have a soundcheck, they had a lot of sound problems. They seemed a little lost on the big stage.

Insides Out - Someone please explain why these guys deserved to be on the bill? Not offensive, but still pretty mediocre.

Jets Overhead - Absolutely fantastic. First time I've seen them... they totally deserve all their hype. Easily the best rock band in this city.

Grace Nocturnal - They owned the stage. Their egos are way too big for this city, and I mean that in a good way.

Moneyshot - The boys from Fernwood have the most integrity out of anyone in town. I thought the way they addressed Nick's comments in Monday was class act all the way. Moneyshot was loud, fast, ballsy, and they had a fucking mosh pit in Centennial Square. I love you guys.

Lappelectro - Did not deserve to close the night off. They are an incredible band, but not in a position of, say, Jets or Grace. - Mon, 25 Aug 2003 3:58pm

I want to clarify what I said about Moneyshots response to Nick's comments for those who didn't read last week's Monday Magazine... Nick Blasko, the promoter who put on the Much show, basically said that he encourages any band who wants to make it to leave Victoria and focus their energies somewhere else. He also said that the Victoria music fans are not supportive of the scene at all. While I don't necessarily disagree with everything that he said, I think it lacked a LOT of class to make comments like that in an article about a show promoting local talent. He basically made it out to sound like this show meant nothing because it's happening here in Victoria, but yet he still expects these terrible fans to come out and make him money. Moneyshot called him on those comments from the stage (without specifically mentioning him by name). I think that took some balls, seeing as Atomique seems to have their hands in every show that happens in town lately. So good on you Moneyshot... way to have the balls to say what everyone else was thinking. - Mon, 25 Aug 2003 4:55pm

One of those Bands was not like the other...not sure what was up with the "easy listening" band at the end...

Great show by Three of the hardest Gigging bands in town...Way to go Moneyshot,Grace Nocturnal, and Jets Overhead...Can't wait for the next gig...Thanks Zone 91.3 for the free pair of tickets I won on their Zone-Mail. It's $20 Bucks to spend on the next show...If you have not seen any of these three bands...your loss...check em out soon.. BTW Promoters a lineup list would have been handy to be posted... - Mon, 25 Aug 2003 5:07pm

big muff was MUCH different from what I was thinking,. but for the better. Moneyshot RULED as always. Lappelectro was REALLY out of place at the concert, and DID NOT deserve to close off the night, and playing them after moneyshot was the DUMBEST thing... the hardest/fastest/loudest band there, to the easy/slow/light band there, was REALLY not a good switch. Insides out were kinda out of place too, but for rap, I didn't think they were all that horrible (and I hate rap), although that chubby little 9 year old seemed pretty exited to not only get the free CD, but also have it signed... lol. Yeah. And I dropped a $50 bill, so someone better have made good use of that money and bought some moneyshot gear.

700 people? Fairly weak considering I believe I read in Monday Mag that the Saskatoon show had 1500 people at it, but then again it seems most Vic shows have low turnouts. Nonetheless here is a review.

Big Muff-Missed their set and I've been slaggin them too much so I won't say anything.

Insides Out-3 MCs and no DJ, would have been better with a DJ, it was fairly mediocre but not gruesome by any means.

Jets Overhead-Great group, wish they would play some Special Guests tunes in their set but I guess they have totally put the past behind them.

Grace Nocturnal-In my opinion the best band to see from Victoria. They definitely have the Rock and Roll egos and stage presence that is much too lacking these days.

Moneyshot-The other guy said it best, they started a mosh pit in Centennial Square, that is no small feat. They were really good, probably the best I have ever seen them.

LappElectro-Totally out of place, only stayed for a song or two but definitely a talented band but much to slow and melodic for the crowd that was there. - Tue, 26 Aug 2003 3:02pm

Our reviews sound almost exactly the same! I'm curious as to how many people feel the same way? Or does anyone have a different opinion? - Tue, 26 Aug 2003 3:26pm

hehe... I sold a stereo system I found when my dad was moving, got $350 for it, and at that time I hadn't had a chance to get to the bank... Oh well, easy come, easy go...

Its weird that the best group of musicians at an event for several groups of musicians would be the group of musicians considered "most out of place" among all of the groups of musicians at an event in which several groups of musicians are par-taking in a supportive and loving environment attended by honey's, many of whom quite possibly could have been wearing daisy print panties. I love daisy print panties. - Tue, 26 Aug 2003 8:02pm

Never cram. Cramming is bad. As with anything, you should only ever ease words into a sentence. Cramming makes you look rushed and unatentive. Whoa! I gotta stop cramming my face full of tuna! Yellowfin, to be precise. Go fuck your Nanny! - Wed, 27 Aug 2003 8:08pm
