Sati User Info... | Sat. March 14th 2009 9 - 2 doors at 8 - SO MUCH RAWK [-]Dirty & The Derelicts, Motorama, Aging Youth Gang, Rothschild, Rude Norton, THE FIGHT UNITED $10 Presented by: MONDAY NIGHT KHAOS I knew that night would be extra-special and it was. First, I had too good a time seeing loads of REALLY old friends, (haha). But that was probably what a lot of people were thinking, cuz it was that kind of night. Everyone had different reasons for what it was that was important enough to bring them out - birthdays, last shows, old bands, favorite bands, new bands, favorite people, favorite place. It was great, everyone cheering each other on. :) And that was just the icing on the cake, since so many people's favorite PLAYERS were on that stage. It really was a charmed night with great performances from all sides - some definitely exceptional. And a classic i-wanna-get-drunk birthday switch, forcing the newest band to headline, worked out great, with that band rising to the challenge and pulling off a totally worthwhile and entertaining set immediately following bands & players who could easily be called local legends, had already lit up the stage. YES. Totally worth it for a good chunk of us to stay right to the bitter end, after skytrain, after last call, the works . The whole thing just made me feel really proud to be part of things here... all the stars aligned... great bands, players, venue, people, and all kinds of impressive new growth. yaay. - Tue, 17 Mar 2009 10:31pm Edited: Tue, 17 Mar 2009 10:32pm
denny User Info... | I wanted to go to that show, but had some out of town friends visiting, and they didn't, so I hung with them instead. However I did go to The Cobalt on Monday to see The Wrecktals and North or Die. And just like you, the whole thing made me feel pretty proud of things here. A great turnout for a Monday night punk show, and everyone had a great time. Not one skin/meat head in the bar! - Fri, 20 Mar 2009 3:17pm
Sati User Info... | Yeah, they seem to be putting together some really decent shows Monday nights. Pretty consistent. Nice people too, no bs pretention. You missed a really good show though. I'm super biased, but still. - Sun, 22 Mar 2009 10:18pm
denny User Info... | now i'm bummed on things here. i had booked the cobalt may 15th, for my friend's band from nelson, a while back. then jones bones got its act together and could play too. now i see a subhumans cd release show has surfaced on the same night. ugh, we can't compete with that. - Wed, 25 Mar 2009 11:28am
Sati User Info... | :( Well, I've been known to run back and forth from the Anza & Cobalt. But I'm an odd duck. Once in a while I hook up with people who're into it, but most people drink, drive or walk too slow to keep up. Resched? p.s. You just noticed this now? Dave listed this on the 11th! This one of the reasons why we build the listings - scheduling tools so promoters won't be competing! - Wed, 25 Mar 2009 1:12pm Edited: Wed, 25 Mar 2009 1:37pm
denny User Info... | Actually I first noticed it in the latest issue of the Skinny magazine, whenever that came out. But every time I'm offered a show or trying to set something up, this is the first website I come to to check dates. Before I booked May 15th I saw that we'd be competing with Fleetwood Mac. I was going to make it the Fleetwood Mac after party at The Cobalt. haha. We'd have to learn a Fleetwood Mac cover song, and that wasn't happening. But I can't reschedule because Wantmonster is coming down from Nelson. Luckily we'll have a couple other shows with them as well. We were going to headline, but I doubt it now. I'm going to try and find someone good enough to make you not want to go to The Anza. - Wed, 25 Mar 2009 5:45pm
