The show was last night so I'd thought I'd give my own two cents about it.
Iskra-Very good. I remember reading somewhere about a black/crust band and I finally saw it in motion. Lots of energy. Riffs and breakdowns that just slap you across the face. Can't wait to see them again. Both subgenres are very apparent. Fucking awesome.
Repulverizer-The reason I went to the show. THe Cruiser and the boys have proven themselves as V.Island's Kings of Deathgrind (at least in my opinion). Insane crunchy riffs and wild(ly funny) double vocal attack. I loved the "Macabre rip-off vocals". With minor guitar technical difficulties Repulverizer fucking destroyed. "forrest grave" slayed. My new favorite VI metal band (next to Allfather)
Malefaction-Wasn't impressed. Bad sound, good effort though. Don't get me wrong this band sound awesome on recordings but the live show did NOT do them justice. I just couldn't get into it so I left early (sorry Malefaction). Plus the constant feedback was a very annoying. - Wed, 6 Aug 2003 10:11am

Wow thanks eh! And thanks Scott for putting that on and letting us play and helping with the tech stuff. Great to see Wolf and Scott (no relation) and Calvert back in action with Iskra, anyone who missed it can check them out on the 22nd at James Bay. Black metal meets Disrupt! And Malefaction, yeah, bad sound, their amps were too big for the PA to compete with I guess. Couldn't hear any vokills until the very end. They are into borrowing black metal chords too now, you'll hear that on their CD if you couldn't hear it at the show. Plus a Death Sentence cover. We just recorded at the Rats' (Rat's?) Nest so a Repulverizer CD is coming very soon (I'll trade one for an Iskra CD!) - Wed, 6 Aug 2003 5:38pm

I hadn't been to a show at the little fernwood in a few years...apart from the sound problem...i love this tiny room...and i'd see a show their any day over the big fernwood...fortunately for the first two bands the sound was decent I thought..Iskra are going to start something we haven't seen around here for many years..I love watching these guys, killer riffs and well thought out songs, scott's vocals really compliment this band, i must say im sad to see Calvert moving on to Vancouver...the temp bassist did a great job filling in for des...if you hadn't seen these guys before you never would have known...Repulverizer...what the hell can you say? these guys blew me away...i was truly amazed at the speed at which these guys play...and while not the hugest fan of death grind...these guys are so damn entertaining to watch it didn't matter to me.. in fact i was practically converted after seeing these dudes!! insane guitar riffs, heavy ass bass and Doug has got to be one of the best damn drummers thats ever graced the stages of victoria...what stamina!! sorry to malfaction..i cheesed out early and didn't catch their set.....i suck i know. - Wed, 6 Aug 2003 7:27pm

Little Fernwood. always a great place to play and hear bands. Iskra play in a black crust style with very antiauthoritarian/anarchist words. Repulverizer played tight grind in a style similar to Rupture. not sure what they are saying, but i guess we'll find out on the cd which is coming out. Malefaction were great. It's a shame that the PA was not powerful enough. Unlike the other reviews, I don't think the guitars were to loud. It was all great sounding, just no vocals. Its a drag because Travis really is an amazing vocalist adding atmosphere and intensity to their live shows. - Thu, 7 Aug 2003 10:37am
