Sati User Info... | I'm sorry.. these best of's are a bit annoying, but bound to come up. I don't see a ton of shows that fit into this category, certainly not compared to how many heavy shows I see, but a few stand out. The Thing at The Roundhouse (Jazz Fest) Benzene at Ironworks (Jazz Fest) Hot Panda, Novillero, the Rambling Ambassaders etc @ the Cambrian Hall (Mint Records Showcase) Amy Honey's going away thingy with Ford Pier, Chris-a-riffic and the Bash Brothers (@the Railway) Chris-a-riffic etc out in the park at Trout Lake! I'm sure there's more, but I'm really grateful to all concerned for putting those shows on. thanks! *edited by Admin to change the thread title 1/4/09 - Wed, 31 Dec 2008 8:15pm Edited: Sun, 4 Jan 2009 2:19pm
Mike S User Info... | Same, I have some non metal selections.. Summit of Strings was amazing. Robin Nolan, Daniel Lapp, Chris Sartisohn, Scott White(?).. shredding guitar and fiddle gypsy jazz style. Easy Star All Stars at Ska Fest were awesome too, and seeing them do Dub Side Of The Moon was a bonus. - Thu, 1 Jan 2009 12:49pm
Haden User Info... | Best show was NIN at the SOFA. I ended up at the Mint Records night after the show and ended up seeing two of my favourite shows of the year in one night. - Thu, 1 Jan 2009 1:43pm
Sati User Info... | OMG, whats wrong with me - Bob Mould! It wasn't exactly thE most magical or best performance, but hearing so many exceptional songs all on the same night made for a lot. Plus Bob Mould(!) healthy & in great spirits, made it awesome. - Thu, 1 Jan 2009 4:53pm

Peter Gardner User Info... | "the fugitives at the solstice cafe" I'm really glad to see someone else on this board loves this band. Fleet Foxes at Element was incredible. And Julie Dorion at Lucky Bar was also wonderful. Those were my two favourite shows of the year. - Tue, 6 Jan 2009 12:18am

Soap Dodger User Info... | Most of my favourites were out of town, but here they are: 1. Radiohead @ Thunderbird stadium in Vancouver. It rained steadily throughout the set, but you can't beat arguably the best band in the world at the height of their career as performers. The rain didn't bother anybody, and made it all the more enjoyable when the capacity crowd sang along to "rain down, rain down" during the closing Paranoid Android. 2. Sasquatch festival @ the Gorge. Great sets by the New Pornographers (full lineup), Kathleen Edwards, the National, Fleet Foxes, and many more. 3. Wolf Parade @ the Commodore. - Sun, 18 Jan 2009 1:23pm
