ok, what did you ppl think of that show at Afterthought last nite? that was the RADDEST show i have seen. we left with ringing ears, my new travis shirt..and lukes drum sticks. best show..if you havent seen grace nocturnal i reccomened you do as soon as possible. same goes with the other bands. rock on!! - Sun, 1 Jun 2003 1:10pm
Japanese Air Force Definitely a great show. All three bands were fantastic. Phil McCrank was a pleasant surprise. Great songs, great playing and very on vocals.

The Cynics and Grace Nocturnal rocked their collective asses, like always. They both did a good job of rousing the kiddies from their seats and on to the dance floor.

My ears were also ringing by the end of the night. Those are some loud-ass drummers!

I think the potential of this room is huge, its got great sound in John Borys, a clean look and wicked sightlines.

Hopefully Afterthought gets the chance to stick around for a while. It's a great opportunity for the bands of Victoria to play some all ages/mixed shows in a room that doesn't sound like a gym.

crow But what was the venue like?Did it get outta hand, did it
work with the licensed all ager etc.??Give us a total review eboner please! Thanks. - Sun, 1 Jun 2003 2:06pm
Japanese Air Force On a room-related note: I think they could stand to treat the stage area and some of the walls, to deal with the reflection. It's a pretty bouncy room, sound-wise.

Luckily John's used to that... I'm sure this place is way less a headache than Vertigo was.

I didn't notice any weirdness with the dual-license thing. The cops showed up, checked everything out, left, came back again, etc. There wasn't really enough people in there to make it hard for the security guys to see any shit go down.

I forsee the all-ages/licensed thing causing some problems down the road, if this place really gets happening. Hopefully not. It really is a great room.

Anonymous Is there gonna be a metal show at this venue in the near future? - Sun, 1 Jun 2003 2:58pm
Anonymous I thought it was a great show too. I didn't think the sound was very good though. Especially the vocals. They seemed so far away. It was probably mostly the room like the guy said in the last post. It's a good place though. I hope to play there soon. - Sun, 1 Jun 2003 3:09pm
Curious George It'd be nice if a band like Grace Nocturnal could actually play a headlining set. 45 minutes? What the fuck was that? No show should end at 12 fucking 30. Grace Nocturnal are a bunch of fucking prima donnas. Boys, a word of advice. This is Victoria. There are no such thing as "rockstars" in this city. You and Hot Hot Heat need to get over yourselves. - Sun, 1 Jun 2003 5:26pm

hey curious george..shut up!
Grace Nocturnal did play a short set.. i know that wasnt all their songs because they didnt play 2 from the cd...but who cares, it was still awsome.

the venue was upstairs, with a dark carpet..was it purple or burgundy? and the floor area was nice..plenty of room for the amount of ppl that showed up. the bar was at the side..and there was an area with a couch and lots of tables and chairs on either side of the room. the stage was in the corner and it was kinda small but those boys seemed fine.

what are you talking about man? the sound was great..i was right up there at the speakers/stage for grace..after bugging them alot for an all ages show we finally got it..and they rock and rolled my fucking socks off. - Sun, 1 Jun 2003 5:46pm

what was the highlight of the evening for anybody who had a good time?

mine was when luke gave me..his drum sticks! ;) - Sun, 1 Jun 2003 5:55pm
Curious George I'm not disagreeing that Grace played a good set. But simple fact, if they can only handle a 45 minute set, then they should be headlining. Armchair could have easily played until close, so why didn't they headline? It's not cool to force an opener to play a short set just so you can end a half hour early. Either play until the bar closes, or don't headline. That's the business. - Sun, 1 Jun 2003 5:56pm

Anonymous i think curious george should explain the business to everyone a bit more...if hot hot heat and grace nocturnal don't do it right, then why are they successfull? HHH is obviously more successful, but grace notcurnal is on their way - Sun, 1 Jun 2003 11:22pm
