Soap Dodger User Info... | One week from tonight. Can't wait. I've been checking out set lists, photos, and youtube of their summer tour, and it looks like we're in for a treat. The light show looks unbelievable. Set Lists: http://58hours.com/58_displayshow.php?showID=653 - Tue, 12 Aug 2008 7:51pm
You Enjoy Myself User Info... | Sweet tapdancing christ, that was an epic, phenomenal show. The torrential downpour suited the evening, and didn't really bother me until the music was done. I was relatively close to the stage, and the crowd calmed down after a few songs and it was nice to be able to stand so close without being pushed and whatnot. Thom seemed to be having a good time, and had some pretty humorous banter, especially when he called out the dumbasses who were shouting in fake Aussie accents. This might have been the best show I've ever seen. - Wed, 20 Aug 2008 7:22pm
DTjackson User Info... | I didn't have high hopes for Liars and they really didn't change my opinion of their music. It wasn't terrible. It was moderately interesting and the lead singer was trying very hard to get the crowd excited. I especially like his comment... "look over there at those eagles. But those aren't eagles. they're thunderbirds. Thunderbirds are go!" [paraphrase]. And then Radiohead. Started to rain just as they were setting up. It was such an excellent show. It wasn't perfect but the group soldiered on despite a faulty guitar during Talk Show Host and a lyrical mix up during All I Need. Thom was really on point with the banter. He called some people out who were getting too rowdy. "I said relax fellas, this ain't a fuckin' Rage Against the Machine concert" And someone shouted something stupid during Faust Arp which got Thom really irritated and he told them to shut the fuck up. That they must not go out much. It was really funny. And Paranoid Android was the perfect way to end the show with the rain pouring down. The shitty part came at the end of the concert when everyone realized that we all had to leave. It took me, personally, two hours in the pouring rain to catch a bus. And from what I understand, there were still people stranded out in the area past midnight. Oh, and stop crowd surfing and pushing your way to the front! It's so unfair that people who get there early enough to get a good spot have some asshole pushing their way to the front just because they recognize their favourite song or whatever. It's not just annoying, it's not safe when a show is in progress. Then we're all cramped together. At least one person fainted. But that's all negative stuff that doesn't have to do with the music. They rocked. And the light show was so fucking cool. Especially the camera mounted on/in Thom's piano during You and Whose Army? It really proves he has a sense of humour as he pulled faces. It was all in all, awesome. Wish they just kept playing forever. - Wed, 20 Aug 2008 9:34pm
Soap Dodger User Info... | What a treat to see one of the great bands of its time in top form, with great sound and phenomenal lighting. The rain only added to the atmosphere, and like You Enjoy Myself said, it didn't bother anyone until afterwards. We dried off by the fire in a nearby pub until after midnight, and had no trouble getting a cab out of there. Highlights for me: National Anthem, Everything in its Right Place, Planet Telex, Exit Music, and Paranoid Android. Nothing like hearing Thom wail "rain down on me" as we all got soaked. I've been to a lot of shows, but this one was my favourite, hands down (even having left out several of my favourites: Lucky, Fake Plastic, Airbag, Pyramid Song). Here's a clip I found on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltnAPoDNzW8&feature=related 25 songs in just over two hours: 1. 15 Step 2. There There 3. Morning Bell 4. All I Need 5. Where I End and You Begin 6. Talk Show Host 7. Nude 8. Weird Fishes/Arpeggi 9. National Anthem 10. Bangers and Mash 11. Faust Arp 12. Videotape 13. Karma Police 14. Jigsaw Falling Into Place 15. Just 16. Exit Music (for a film) 17. Bodysnatchers -------------------------Encore 18. House of Cards 19. Optimistic 20. You And Whose Army? 21. Planet Telex 22. Everything In Its Right Place -------------------------Encore 23. Reckoner 24. 2+2=5 25. Paranoid Android - Wed, 20 Aug 2008 11:12pm Edited: Wed, 20 Aug 2008 11:43pm
