field guide to insects so...? - Sat, 3 May 2003 2:00pm
Anonymous must've really sucked. i was downtown today and the streets were littered with 14 year old punk rockers. i wasn't willing to fork the $35 to see them though. - Sat, 3 May 2003 7:59pm

i guess 35 dollars is a lot to fork up for a punk band, but Bad Religion did kick ass!! the casualties were one of the worst live bands i have ever seen in my entire life!!!!! Belvedere actually surprised me, and i enjoyed their music.... The security guards were awesome! they let us smoke big fat doobies in the mosh pit - Sat, 3 May 2003 10:44pm

Belvedere was ok... a bit too pop/punk like though. BR was better than id expected, even though i left like half way through there show, but the casualies fucking rocked! speaking from my somewhat limited experience of live music, they were by far the best band ive ever seen. the sound wasnt too great though. - Sat, 3 May 2003 10:45pm
cheaper than a scotsman i was talking to a buddy of mine the other day..he was going to this show...i wouldn't spend that kind of cash to see that lineup.. anyways.. i did mention at the same time most people (including me) bitch about the price tag of admission...buy have forked out waaayyy more to go to van to catch a show...by the time you see a second rate band...hop the ferry twice and ride transit in...let alone the rest of expenses that come with being away from home...and vola' ....you drop like 60-100 bucks. anyway...just an observation. - Sat, 3 May 2003 11:20pm
Alias Yeah it was a killer show. Pricy, but worth it. The Casualties played the best set i've ever heard, and the moshpit ruled. No, the security guards singled out people who looked like 'punk trouble-makers' and made us fucking stand beside the doors for ten minutes while they took all our spikes, safetypins, and chains off us. Weapons y'see. Fuck, some people's HAIR coulda done more damage than a safety pin. We weren't allowed back in after we left for a breather, so we blew past the guards and enjoyed ourselves. They were pricks.

Other than that, the show ruled. I hope the Casualties come back, they were radcore. - Sat, 3 May 2003 11:33pm

The Casualties were fuckin' rad. BR was good but no surprises really. If you've heard their albums you can predict their live show. I still enjoyed it. Belvedere made my stomach turn. The security guards at the door were pricks to those that looked like "punk troublmakers". I had no chains, but I saw punkers get their chains taken away while more..."normal" looking kids got in with their chains. Lame. - Sun, 4 May 2003 12:28am

i liked all the bands belvedere i've been a long time fan of seen them three times now they always rule the drummer kept puking and i was getting confused......casualties were good too but they were one of those bands with one song they play over and over again (no variety) but dont get me wrong it was a fucking good song.....bad religion kicked serious ass there a very tight live act and had some funny things to say about slaveery in vic... all in all it was super fun and super rad - Sun, 4 May 2003 2:42am

There was a beer garden in some pub that was upstairs in the curling club. And Bad Religion is the king of the one-song-repeated bands. - Sun, 4 May 2003 9:41am
Alias ME: Why can't we have chains or safety pins? I'm not trying to bother you, I just want to know WHY we can't have them. No reason, no compliance.

SEC GUARD: There is no fucking reason! It's company policy! Now get the hell out of here.

CUNTS! - Sun, 4 May 2003 1:18pm
Anonymous so far there hasn't been any raving reviews about BR. it wasn't worth the $35, was it? - Sun, 4 May 2003 1:58pm

Alias: The security guards were cunts but there is a reason. Items such as chains can too easily become a dangerous weapon if a fight breaks out. The safety pin thing was lame but whoever put on the show was probably just paranoid. They could be held liable if they let the chains in and somebody got hurt or killed because of it. They're just covering their own ass. The bad part about it was not the fact that they didn't let the stuff into the show, but that they only stopped certain people (punks) from taking them inside. If they're not gonna let them in then they should show no discrimination at all and just take everybody's chains and pins away. - Sun, 4 May 2003 6:29pm

BR i say could not compair to the casualities for they are getting lame (or have always been lame) and they just left right after the show like a bunch of old grumpy rockstars. i still question if it was worth $35. - Sun, 4 May 2003 7:30pm
Anonymous how many people were there? - Sun, 4 May 2003 7:43pm
Anonymous What's wrong with BR leaving after the show. What should they do, hang out with you. Or hang out with the crowd in Prince George. Or Titfuck California. Or Dildo Ohio? - Sun, 4 May 2003 8:17pm

I heard there was approximately 800 people in attendance. I think it was worth 35 bucks, it was a good time. I think the reason for BR leaving after they played was... IT WAS THE END OF THE FUCKING SHOW. You see, after the last band plays at a concert, that's when you leave and make your way to an afterparty, not hang out at the curling club expecting the band to hang around. - Sun, 4 May 2003 9:44pm
Am DUUDE Bad REligion fucking kicked it. They were great.. i'd pay 32.50 to see them again right now. never listened tot eh casualties before friday night and they were great fun too..
as for belvedere well they suck, comparitively.. whent hey played that show way back when at burnside they were good, but this time they fucking blew my nuts.... they've even got their pop punk jump in there

and for those certain individuals who werent allowed back in for Bad Religion its too bad and that window deserved its breaking... congratulations - Sun, 4 May 2003 10:14pm

The Casulties were just awsome, mucho better than Bad Relgion in my opinion. They were just fun and involved the crowd. Bad Religion are super tight and pretty great but they should get their island's straight before they start talking about our old slave labour problems. Fun night though and it defintly was worth the 35 bucks.

ps. i agree with the door-window and its deservance of breakage. those security guards wouldn't even let me outside. - Sun, 4 May 2003 10:30pm
good times spent the cash and got my moneys worth!
All bands had somthing to give, no dissapointments here.
The crowd wasn't really into Belvedere but it wasn't their fault... just first set is tough is all.
casualties were physco.... but really into it and the crowed loved it too!!!

I think the security guards deserved to be kicked more than the door did. I also think maybe people should read the easily visible "NO INS AND OUTS" sign when you first go inside the doors. Believe it or not it means you're not allowed to leave the show and then go back inside. - Mon, 5 May 2003 1:38am
name casualties were waaaay better than expected. not impressed by BR in the least. belvedere wasnt what i remembered, but it was good to have at least a little canadian something in there. sound was grand, left that night with too much damage to the ol' hearing. good times in general, dispite the all around assholism given off by the sec guards. i still dont know if it was worth the 35$ either though, and i hope there will be no discouragement as to putting on shows at the curling club even though that door was kicked in and such. i like that venue - Mon, 5 May 2003 1:40am
Anonymous Hey Frazer, you sound a little tight. no need to blow up at everyone's post ya cunt - Mon, 5 May 2003 12:29pm
S.V. They took away people's chains and safety pins?? Hahaha I've never heard of that before. If the security guards are assholes take it out directly on them, not the venue. We have too few all ages venues in town as it is. Wanton destruction just fucks it up for future shows. - Mon, 5 May 2003 3:00pm

sevrinne bad religion kicked ass...though i wish they played more songs from suffer. just for the record, i'm a fairly normal looking person and the security guards took my pens from my bag because they "could be used as a weapon" my fucking pens! - Wed, 7 May 2003 12:24am

I'll be turning fourteen next week. Only two more years until I can get my licence!! - Wed, 7 May 2003 1:30pm
jesus figures a lot of people liked the casualties more than bad religion, and for that reason i state: because victoria skids get a rush out of anything that's fast and loud. Or perhaps because they look more "hardcore" than the other bands, my advice for you is to take an alternative and switch to metal if you want to listen to fast and loud music... At least you could take pride in saying that their good musicians.

p.s. Boo hoo for the kids who got kicked out for failing the breathalizer, real peaches you are. And why even bother complaining about safety pins. Safety pins are for binding together pampers, i'm sorry i didnt realize there supposed to be used as a fucking fashion statement to prove how hardcore you are - Wed, 7 May 2003 5:36pm

Anonymous why give a shit about whether 14 year olds think they're hardcore or wear safety pins? or post messages on livevictoria.com? they're just kids doing they're thing like bad religion are old men doing their thing. lighten the fuck up. - Fri, 9 May 2003 10:13pm
