tricked out! ok people im a metal head by definition but i like alot more than that and i like just plain good ol rock and roll too. last night i had the extreme pleasure of seeing a band that ive been listening to for over 20 years the band is CHEAP TRICK!
these old guys were definitely far from washed up
they put on a fanfuckintastic show
bun E carlos pounded the skins like an animal... rick ran around like a madman with his many guitars including the 5 neck and the double neck that looks like him... Tom layed out solid bass and back up vox and brought out his 12 string bass! (which he invented)and Robin Zander sang and screamed with more power than he did 20 years ago!(gotta be 50 now!)
now i know that some of you think songs like he dream police among others are cheesy and dont hold much for ya but i must say that these guys rocked big time and alot of rock bands today could learn alot about playing fun and energetic tunes from cheap trick....
ive seen 100+ big shows in my life and this was up there as far as being great performance...fun and energy were the key elements (no downer suicidal poor maladjusted me songs)
granted every bad mullethead and cougar from surrey was there but i wasnt bothered
if you havent been exposed to this band then do yourself a favour and check out cheap trick "live at budokan"
damn fine live album....i dont think youd be sorry if you like good rock music
