Fuck, what a show. Mutiny and Iskra played awesome sets and I honestly had no idea Massgrave was so good. The amount of energy at this show was a wonderful thing to be a part of. Thanks to everyone for tolerating Cyborg Justice. - Sun, 17 Feb 2008 1:48am

Not a bad time at all ... been awhile since I've been to all agers, and then I go to two in consecutive weekends.

C. Justice - exactly what grindcore should be about: hilarity and not caring. good to finally see you guys. thanks for the tape.
Mutiny - saw for 2 seconds. wanted to see Jay blast and do vox, I did (alright!), and then went outside to chat about how rad Damaar and Nocturnal Graves are with Adrian.
Iskra - this was really quite something. pretty much a 100% different line up but still the same great sound. new vocalist sounded SICK! seeing iskra really brought back some crazy memories for me. a significant percentage of the first few mitochondrion show were with iskra .. mostly at the burnside house. hearing some of their darker punky riffs really reminded me of those days. good times!!

The show was pretty decent; I don't usually catch that much in the way of crust/grindcore/punk shows but Massgrave was fucking fast and intense. Iskra sound way different from when I last caught them years ago, funny the singer was wearing a "Terrible Certainty" shirt I was actually listening to that album earlier yesterday... - Sun, 17 Feb 2008 12:54pm

thanks to everyone who helped out with this show(especially cody for his dedication as sound technician as well as stepping up to the plate on drums for iskra--our last show for a while). Note that it was Danielle and I both set up this show(not just me)and many folks put up posters etc. The show was great! a big appreciation to all those who came out to support Massgrave and the Victoria DIY scene. This was the kick-off show for Black Raven Records. come check us out at 1294 gladstone(fernwood square). - Wed, 20 Feb 2008 7:42pm

ever think that the girls that "come to the shows to hnag out with the "cool dudes" so they get seen" is just your sexist bigoted perception shining through? wow, so if a girl who doesn't look or act the part is interested in punk rock or alternative communities/lifesyle/whatever and comes to a punk show, she can count on some douchebag calling her a "whore"? that's real awesome. - Mon, 25 Feb 2008 9:07pm

I never really understood "dressing punk" but I'd rather not see a girl conform her personal tastes to suit the collective esthetic. Same goes for guys, I guess. I guess my point is that I think it's cool when people at a show are accepting of anyone, no matter how they look or their alleged "reasons for going" - if they pay the entrance cost, they've contributed and deserve everyone's respect. I don't think punk is "cool" to popular high school crowds. Bands like theset and kincaide are, I guess, but that's a whole different story. - Tue, 26 Feb 2008 10:04am Edited: Tue, 26 Feb 2008 10:05am

wow cordell, I just saw you this weekend and you didn't have fuck-all to say. I guess the irony of you accusing other people of being at a show just to be cool is lost on you, considering the only concept about being "punk-rock" you have identified is that it should be exclusive to your fat, drunk, loser ass. Oh and keep ruining moshpits you fucking asshole, it totally makes shows fun. - Tue, 26 Feb 2008 10:07am

Cordell. you're takin it hard on this message board but i think the "message" is getting lost on you. You're not a bad guy. But you have to respect other people and their opinions, not just with your words but with your actions because the community won't put up with your antics forever.

Being a punk doesn't mean being a total asshole who nobody wants to have around. It may include a lack of respect for authority and a general mistrust of the system but not a lack of respect for your peers. It is supposed to be about tackling an oppressive system to make a better world. NOT ABOUT FIGHTING WITH EACH OTHER. We should all be on each others side, and watching each others backs.

See you all around in the real world.

bumsexjen.

yeah as per usual I'm losing my temper on this message board, it brings the worst out of me. cordell, people have actually asked me 'why dont they ban that guy from shows?' I'm always quick to say that isn't how things work in this community, and the people who put on shows (not me, haven't done one in years) keep the doors open to anyone that wants to attend. There are a million reasons NOT to ban people from shows, most of which are highlighted by jen's post: alienating people just because you don't see eye to eye with them is really harmful to everyone, and these shows are about unity, not division.

anyways I'm not trying to get all tough guy or anything here, I'm really non-violent so I thought I would clarify there are no underlying threats in my posts. surely I am as big of an idiot as you are an asshole, cordell. hah. - Sat, 1 Mar 2008 12:30pm
