| ricky jak User Info... | HOLY SHIT been lurking in around the Victoria underground music scene for awhile now and am always looking for something new and powerfull. Last night was it. DOORWAY..... I have been a fan of Doom Metal for years and have never seen it played by any local musicians. Enter DOORWAY. Thier set consisted of two songs. A journey so heavy and down that not all shall be able to grasp. But I did. I snatched a demo out of the lead trudgers hand and spent the afterneeon today listening again while i drove my van. DOORWAY ..... if you liked them i gotta suggest you check out EARTHRIDE and SPIRIT Caravan. Crown the Wolf.... again went off. Rock with a touch of Kyuss metal. this is great party music. I listened to thier myspace songs a few times and the tunes fuckin STOMP. Now i have seen them live and you can't help but stomp. Another great new local act. Wish they where around years ago at those great Sooke pit parties. Grass City.... MY GOD. These guys twist and contort a heavy sound that.... lets just say by the third song the inside of my head was twisted and contorted. The front man.... o.k I'm gonna say this once in hopes not to offend... he sounds like Joe Cocker. Stir in Skynard but you they just can't get away from those heavy riffs. They belt out a kinda blues so intense you might have to grab a kleenex and wipe you eye. again HOLY SHIT. I was playing the CD at breakfast and my wife was surprised and said they might almost pass as something that could be played on the Q100. But thier live show would definatly be too heavy for those mainstream folks! Like i said i am always lurking for that new powerfull sound and there is alot of super fast punk and metal that will stripp the skinn right off your bones. but its nice to turn it down a rpm and ROCK and thats exactly what happened at this show. and i just wanted to say hi to the short blonde girl in the crowd who dropped her beer at my feet and said the music sucked........... she was one of the Grass Citys girlfriends. -ricky JaK - Sun, 14 Oct 2007 6:12pm Edited: Sun, 14 Oct 2007 6:13pm | ||
