Tyler User Info... | rolled into sugar and ran into a million friends of mine from completely different social circles. that was rad. sugar didn't have the typical crowd of tan blonde girls this show. this was surely an above-average show with a ton of neck-tingling moments that make live music worth seeing. holy fuck were a lot of fun. funky basslined and a drummer backing lo-fi keyboards, electronics, and noise. instrumental songs built on recurring motives, sometimes tending towards slightly more typical electronic music, but with more of an obscure edge. buildups and cooldowns like some bands with more typical instrumentation (explosions in the sky, etc). everyone seemed to love them. I really loved it. anyone want to start a band like this with me? wolf parade exceeded my expectations. I like the recordings and didn't expect much to change live but I was wrong. the instruments were a lot louder in the mix than on the recording which I loved. the keyboards were grinding and catchy. the band was super tight and a lots of fun. I had to leave at 12:10ish, about 30 minutes into their set, due to relying on public transit to get places, but I got my fill. it seemed like everyone had a really good time at this show. good friends, good bands, I'm glad I decided to go to this at the last minute. sucks for other people who were trying to get in and discovered tickets were sold out. thanks to a certain friend of mine for letting me be his "plus one" on the guestlist. - Fri, 7 Sep 2007 2:25am Edited: Fri, 7 Sep 2007 2:26am
Wheate User Info... | Jeez dude, you shoulda paid the extra few bucks for a cab. You missed out. For me the absolute stunner of the night was a self proclaimed "fourteen minuter," that had something to do with radiowaves and a fat tattooed saxophone player and everything to do with kicking so much ass my head almost toppled over. Spooooooooooon. - Fri, 7 Sep 2007 9:40am
Yo Mama User Info... | I could be wrong, but I believe the sax man was John Pollard. - Fri, 7 Sep 2007 12:01pm
You Enjoy Myself User Info... | Holy Fuck was a cool band with a great sound, but as far as a live performance goes, I don't really get off on watching 3 dudes twiddling knobs. Wolf Parade was better than I had imagined, by far. The old songs sounded better than the album version(s) and the new stuff was great too. On a side note, how are the Wolf Parade gang so fuckin' prolific with their songwriting. Between Wolf Parade, Sunset Rubdown, Handsome Furs, Swan Lake, Johnny And The Moon, the sheer amount of music these guys are getting out there is astounding. - Sun, 9 Sep 2007 2:02pm
