missed wayne powerman, heard it was...interesting

Blood nasty were totally great, loved the sound.

things got LAME when the remanes came on, why the lights went out and the blacklights came on i have no idea. for starters black lights create MORE heat, one thing the sunset room doesnt need, two they are hard on the eyes, and thirdly, then there arent any house/stage lights it is a dumb idea, not to mention impossible to get proper video footage. and lastly they really irritate my eyes and give a whole "dance club, rave" feel to the show, that is very unneccessary and distracting

back to the remanes, whatever they were fine, i didnt watch them because of the above said problems and listened to them outside waiting for the gf. good tunes for that.

on to the rebel speel, fuck these guys [and gals] are incredible. the sound wasnt the greatest, some feedback, but they were super tight and totally on tonight! i had a blast hearing 2 of the 4 new songs tonight, was really hoping to hear "please resist" but oh well, ya can't win 'em all. big time bummer their set got cut short but all in all twas a fantastic time.

the other thing i thought was odd was that i saw over 15 people leave and not come back after the remanes....the longer is tay in VIC the longer i think theres something wrong with alot of people here...[flame on]

yeah don't have much of a option with lighting there... the guy running the place dosn't really care about punk shows he just wants to do raves. so he has it set up with lame fucking decorations, shitty lighting and wants to charge $100 for securrity per night, on top of the rent, and DD. Also all thier dj crap for the raves takes up a ton of room, so there is way less room to have shows and dance, and he wants us nbow to stay in the legal capacity of the venue (60 people) which with $35/hr + $100 securrity, and an out of town band makes a $5 show pretty much impossible. shit you need 100 people to break even....

so as for the review, did any one happen to see wayne powerman and the remanes and miss the rest? then we would have a full review of the show!

p.s.-great pics btw - Sun, 26 Aug 2007 7:33pm Edited: Sun, 26 Aug 2007 7:33pm

yeah i kind of talked w/ someone about the whole rave thing and such but i was kind of out of it and in a rush to get up to logans. thats really too bad about all of those problems as it isnt a bad venue and the sound there is half decent. i cant believe he wants to charge 100 for security and only let max 60 people in, just ludicrous!

hahahahahhahah, its a sweet trip to the candy shop indeed.
maybe thats a subliminal message to tell me to get the fuck out of victoria if i dont like it, which wouldnt surprise me...but yeah.

NNB-

my own 2 cents is stick with the lights on [as with that insane all ages HC show a few weeks ago] as it seemed to not bother anyone, and made for a very more "community" like feel, you can see everyone, everyone can see the band, the band can see eachother etc etc etc, and i can get clear videos that we can all see & hear.

is the guy forcing you to hire him as "security" because thats just way too steep to even be reasonable. - Mon, 27 Aug 2007 11:23am

It was a pretty rad show all round, I enjoyed it all. I wish more people had showed up, but I guess with there being another all ager that night, some people were there, which makes good sense. I thought Wayne Powerman were really good, but dragged it on a little too long. Glad to see them again, though, and I think they have gotten better since I last saw em! Also stoked that they changed their name back to Wayne Powerman. Blood Nasty were good, nice to see em not all drunk and actually pretty together with each other. They are really good when they are sober! Just think if they got to jam more, and played sober all the time... They could take over. Remanes were neat, quite tight, but not really my thing. Loved the Rebel Spell, always have, always will. Really enjoyed the two new ones that I got to here. I am always super stoked on see them play, was bummed out that I missed them last time they played.

Oh and Paul, don't leave Vic, i was just getting to know you. I think you seem pretty rad. And congrats on the sobriety, I am pretty into that lately to. We should hang out sometime. - Mon, 27 Aug 2007 6:40pm
