PotemkinCity User Info... | sorry for not indcluding the othe rnames in the titles, im too lazy to look back at the poster and get all the names, and unbale to spell hierophaunt, and so on and so forth. that and i only actually saw graf orlock play, which certainly gave me goosebumps. i posted one video already on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/79ofspades got a decent intervie win with the guys who turned out to be easily one of the most genuine people i have come across and totally cool to talk to and extermely happy to be here and play this show. to which we all owe Anderew a huge thanks for, and judging by the turnout it was a sucess for him and he didnt lose his shirt. gotta say Graf was so amazingly tight. didnt think they could pull their sound off live to the perfection that they achieved. I've been into them for a while and actually seeing them face to face, talign with em and all it really made my night. i heard hierphuant were amazing as usual but not alot about the other bands, liek i said, arrived late, actually arrived a little early, but 3 bands were yett o play and no way i like driving at midnight or later so had to drive home, jump on the skate and haul ass back downtown, figured the show would be over at 11. amazing amazing show - Tue, 14 Aug 2007 1:59am
Tyler User Info... | I posted something along these lines in the myspace van isle hardcore group: hey! I had to post something somewhere since a lot is racing through my mind. I'm stoked that it did so well. I got to pay Graf Orlock $110, and each other band $20. I want to get some thank you's out because I was really stressed and preoccupied at the show, can't help it, it's how I am. Thank you to Tamy, who was amazing at the door and managed to stay there for five of the six bands, AND was on top of checking stamps and getting people to pay. Thanks to Kayleigh for driving me to get/drop off the PA and for driving me home after the show. Thanks to Brian for letting me use the PA. Thanks to my girlfriend Meaghan for being a designated security person as well as setting up and cleaning up, thanks to Troy for all the help with the same stuff. Thanks to Iona for letting Hats Off Gentlemen use their kit, pretty much everyone use their mic, and the last two bands use their mic stand. Thanks to all the bands who played, everyone's set was fucking killer. Thanks to all who came out to Alzu's for post-show eats. Thanks to whoever's place Graf Orlock and Hats Off Gentlemen stayed at. Oh, I should also explain. Hats Off Gentlemen called me last night about wanting to play, since they played other tour dates with Graf Orlock. I figured why not, so I let them on. It ended up working out so thanks to everyone who was patient about this. This show totally made summer worth it for me. Now, here's a review of sorts: Beginning - I was super stressed and dealing with a lot of stuff (Hats Off Gentlemen being a "maybe playing", people arriving late as usual, dealing with the venue coordinator and stuff) No Holding Back - Great set, super heavy, lots of people were already there in the beginning to see you guys Iona - I freaking love this band. Record some stuff soon! Such a tight band and I really want to see them again. Kenny did a great job on vocals. Hats Off Gentlemen - Suprise band from Vancouver. I was totally into their style, which you guys could probably tell from my between-band mix of Indian Summer and 90s emo/screamo. Young guys, I'll admit they caught me off guard by asking to play, but it went well. Breaking Point - Super fast and super energetic. Loved it. Hierophant - Best Hierophant set ever. Amazing. So many people were there and Nick Gibas went all out. His vocals were amazing. Graf Orlock - They've been blowing people away all tour and this was no exception. Post-show - Lots of cleanup and stuff, then it was off to Alzu's. I was tired, cranky, and hungry, but had some really good times with the band and locals like Lydia, Jodi, and John. Now I'm at home. I picked up a shirt and all the records. So good. Thanks to everyone who came. Thanks for making a video clip! The guy with the cane, Bubba, should be putting pics on his myspace sometime. - Tue, 14 Aug 2007 3:40am Edited: Tue, 14 Aug 2007 3:47am
Tyler User Info... | oh yeah, who is Andrew??? - Tue, 14 Aug 2007 3:57am
Bryan User Info... | This was one of the best shows I've ever been to, massive thanks to Tyler for going through all the effort of putting it on and making it work out pretty much perfectly. The music aside it was definitely one of the most organized and well-run all-ages shows I've been present at, even with the surprise band making an abrupt appearance into the lineup. No Holding Back - My first time actually seeing these guys, very impressed. Brutal vocals and HEAVY AS FUCK breakdowns. Iona - Didn't watch much of, not really my thing. Hats Off Gentlemen - Awesome addition to the lineup, these guys sounded fairly progressive in kind of an Envy-esque way but also delivered some crushing climaxes and insane screamo outbursts to keep the brutality flowing. Breaking Point - Insanely fast hardcore, I'm down. Awesome drumming. Hierophant - I was pretty convinced the show had been stolen after watching their set. Frighteningly intense Discordance Axis-esque grindcore, Nick is probably the harshest vocalist in all of Victoria. Graf Orlock - Somehow managed to take the intensity level up another notch. The final two bands were both among the best live performances I've ever seen, so I'll just leave it at that. - Tue, 14 Aug 2007 10:10am

Tambo User Info... | Graf Orlok were probably some of the nicest dudes in bands I've ever met. After everybody's set they went up to the members of the band and told them how awesome they were and thanks for playing, etc. Genuine awesome dudes. Genuine awesome show. Rock & roll. - Tue, 14 Aug 2007 4:30pm
DK User Info... | "greatest moment of the night: thrashing with tim bullock" I'd have to agree. Props to the dude that posted the video as well: the encore video looks sweet. - Tue, 14 Aug 2007 5:05pm
Tyler User Info... | tim bullock is a huge asshole to me and has always been a negative factor in the victoria scene, including him and his little friends telling graf orlock how much it sucks. I let him in so that graf orlock would get more money in the end, despite the fact that has threatened me in the past and spent the entire show being a dick. that aside, thanks everyone for the kind words. I don't know how it went so well but I'm glad it did. - Tue, 14 Aug 2007 5:46pm Edited: Tue, 14 Aug 2007 5:46pm
the grey army User Info... | one of THE BEST all ages shows i have been to in a long time! didnt see the first two bands so obviously no comment though No Holding Back always have the awesome posi energy going on so i am sure it was good Hats Off....not my thing but excellent playing. Really liked that repeating bass line in the last song (i think). Breaking Point. First time seeing these folks. Amazing set! The drummer (dont know name) is awesome. Heirophant. I agree this is probably the best set i have seen so far. Stew dog almost smashed me with angry bass. instead face was nearly melted off by crushing riff assault. Stew you were right, I think the sample may have been as long as the last song. so good. Graf Orlok. Holy shit! i cant remember seeing a band quite like this in Victoria in all the time i have been here. loved every second of it. Rad Samples, Rad beards, Rad songs....Rad band. Come Back! - Tue, 14 Aug 2007 7:37pm
PotemkinCity User Info... | to those who thanked me for upping the video, your welcome, no worries, i love it. gotta say i agree with everyone on Graf, got the chance to talk to all the guys, had anice 15 minute interview w/ "jason" haha of Graf which should be in the next issue of AU. keep watching for some more vids, as i have 3 or 4 others i think. after it was all over it was cool to chill w/ Kalvin [lead vocalist] and smoke some amazing BC bud with him, he was almost too grateful and totally just genuinely happy to be in life in general, loved talking to them and cant wait for them to come back. wish i wouldf have at least caught hiero but what can you do. - Tue, 14 Aug 2007 8:36pm
