Holy shit! This was a GREAT show! Unit 29 kicked some serious ass. Really dark metal, extremely talented guys. Then cam Threat of the End. OMFG! They are deinately going to go far! Monica has incredible range and just belts it out! You got the pipes GRRL! Then Belt came on, and although not really my kind of music, they were REALLY tight! Only complaint would be their lead singer, but other than that they were pretty damn good.
Was really nice metting Monica finally after posting here, off and on, for a year+. All the bullshit that she has tossed on her in the general bords is undeserved. You ROCK Monica! Kick ass grrl! I see BIG things coming for ya! - Sat, 22 Feb 2003 3:56am
RSBF thx Shag ; ) um, my head hurts. why is it light out? god is cruel. - Sat, 22 Feb 2003 10:21am
S.V. Yes kudos to TOTE, I see bright things in your future! RSBF has excellent stage presence and a poweful voice.

Nice to finally meet you Monica! Sorry I was so sleepy and burned out, far too much food & wine consumed prior to Soundgarden. Maybe next time we'll actually get a chance to chat more.

Oh yeah the bands...they were all great. Not exactly the genre of music I normally listen to, but enjoyable none the less. Cheers! - Sat, 22 Feb 2003 10:30am

Well, sorry to say that I've missed your band AGAIN, Monica. I've heard nothing but good things about TOTE. Guess I'll have to drop down to the jamspot one of these days to hear you belt out a couple of tunes. When you guys playing again anyways? How was last night? Good turnout? Did anybody actually stay to see Belt? (ouch. hehe) - Sat, 22 Feb 2003 11:06am

I will speak up for Belt and say, IMHO that Belt is a great, tight-playing band. A lot of people give them crap but they're all talented including JP, the singer. These guys play hard, practice hard and have been around for a while. Staying power is difficult in this town due to horrendous slagging from people who have no idea what it takes committment-wise to play gig after gig. If it's not your kind of music, don't listen. But JP is a great singer and is his own genre - may not be yours, though. Keep it up, guys. - Sat, 22 Feb 2003 1:12pm

yes, i agree that belt is a tight band. the fact that they've been around for a while doesn't mean they're good. i'm sure most of the people on this board DO in fact have an idea of what kind of committment it takes to play a shit load of gigs. again, playing a lot of gigs doesn't make you good either. staying power? how good is staying power if all you do is play rinky dink bars in victoria? are they scheduled to tour canada, and i don't know about it? the vocalists style is not unique nor is it commercially viable. mind you, he's got the rock star attitude down pat. (complete with bandanna) ROCK ON BELT, ROCK ON. - Sat, 22 Feb 2003 1:51pm
you Belt will no doubt cause the fire that burnes down soundgarden and makes CNN. - Sat, 22 Feb 2003 2:08pm

I wasn't really "slagging" JP, Davescene. Belt are damn tight, and JP does have talent. Something just wasn't "there" for me when we saw them last night, and that was my 1st time seeing them...ever. They're obviously a popular band since they've been around a long time, so kudos to em for suffering the slings and arrows of the people that shit on them and still continue to play on and have fun making music. - Sat, 22 Feb 2003 4:31pm

I agree with that. I've only seen them play a few times myself and it's hard being a victim of Victoria. I took a 15 year hiatus from the band scene myself and just started in a band 3 years ago. We're still working on it - it's slow going sometimes and an expensive hobby, but I just wanted to share my 2 bits. I'm such a poser! (big laffs) - Sat, 22 Feb 2003 6:19pm
Anonymous what band are you in, davescene? - Sat, 22 Feb 2003 6:48pm
Anonymous Brown nosers suck. rsfb will only be going to hell. pulease. - Sat, 22 Feb 2003 7:47pm
The Guy Ummm why don't you guys tell the truth? Are you all in the bands that played? Really, Monica can sing but her band sucks, Unit 29, that was the most awefull performance I have ever seen by adults, they can play their instruments but have not one decent sounding song, completely unoriginal. And well, Belt, they suck too. All the bands have good enough musicians, but seriously, not one band was good enough to be playing on stage, except for maybe opening for a local show. - Sat, 22 Feb 2003 7:54pm
