DTjackson User Info... | Okay, I missed the set but I heard there was some moshing and the staff at the ol' curling club shunned people from the audience. The staff is bullshit. The rules are ridiculous. Four dollars for a peice of pizza by the way...too bad I was hungry beyond belief. Sabastien Grangier was pretty good. Got the crowd moving. I wouldn't be able to recount any of the songs sucessfully. Once again, a dude I was near was pulled from the audience for..I don't even fucking know why. Seriously, the staff are straight laced fascists. Metric...where do I start? I mean, I loved the new songs. I loved the set but only to an extent. They didn't play Dead Disco which is their biggest song. Why do you refuse to play your biggest song? This was the first time for me seeing the band and I heard they did an extended jam version of the song but.nope, not there. Lots of people disappointed. Personally, I was wondering why they favoured Old World Underground over Live It Out. They just played Monster Hospital and Poster of a Girl. What about Glass Ceiling, Handshakes, Empty or Police and The Private? Hmmmm, they seemed to just disappear so quickly. - Sun, 20 May 2007 12:47am
_Griphin_ User Info... | Did they open up the bar on the second floor?!? I think the staff at Curling Club get overwhelmed and don't know how to deal with large crowds. A shame, really. - Sun, 20 May 2007 10:49am
Nik Olaz User Info... | Theset...best sound of the night. Totally their best set ever. Sebastien Grainger project was meh. A huge disappointment. I was expecting DFA1979-isms. Instead I got like Silverchair 2007. Metric's lead singer is kind of hot. The kind of hot you'd see possibly smoking meth at some high school party in the basement. That said I wasnt paying attention to this band at all. - Sun, 20 May 2007 1:02pm
Bladge User Info... | The bar on the second floor was closed.. something must of went down in a past show there because there was no bar at the Finger Eleven show either... the room above was used as a band room at the Metric show. Amazing night all around, Sebastien's last song was by far my favourite.. he jumped on the drums, sounded alot like Death From Above which is just fine by me. It was kinda weird that Metric didn't play Dead Disco or Empty.. but still, amazing vibes throughout their set. - Sun, 20 May 2007 1:53pm Edited: Sun, 20 May 2007 2:14pm
DTjackson User Info... | It's been a mystery why the bar hasn't been open since the Social Distortion concert [where they pulled it at the last minute]. This venue really rubs me the wrong way but I guess we have to deal with it because it's the bridge between big fernwood and the Saveonfoods Arena - Sun, 20 May 2007 2:18pm
Andrew User Info... | beer better be open for the ska fest or there'll be a lot of pissed off people... - Sun, 20 May 2007 11:03pm
Haden User Info... | The upstairs bar, to my knowledge, is an option for people renting the Curling Club. It costs extra or the beer sales from up there percentage wise goes to the Curling Club or something like that. I think I've only been to one show when the upstairs bar has been opened. It was open at last skafest for bands only. - Mon, 21 May 2007 9:38am
PCreaper User Info... | I'm just pissed because the tickets said beverages and no - one knew fuckall about what was happening - Metric only played an hour and skipped some of their best songs but they did warn us at the start of the show that most of it was going to be new. And yes the staff are retards at the Curling club - I think this will be my last show as any venue that doesn't let me and my girl grab a breath of fresh air doesn't deserve my money. Atomique what happened to the beer gardens? - Tue, 22 May 2007 2:00pm
almix12 User Info... | The staff wern't for the curling club, I had seen those people at previous concerts, even previous metric concerts... They've been doing it awhileeee. metrics set did seem short, and what was with the oh canada? HAHA that was pretty funny... that one new song OWNED (not the black sheep although that one was pretty cool) the "doo doo doo dooo, who would you rather be doo doo doo doo, the beatles or the rolling stones doo doo doo doo" one. Can't wait for their new album in october... why don't they play any of the REALLYY old songs? Siamese cities, the people, butcher etc. off the EPs? is it that record lable thing? (same as grow up and blow away but apparently they can play songs off that album now, it just wasn't released.. i heard it's gonna be officially released with a different tracklistings (all the same songs though)) I enjoyed it while it lasted, put it that way... Did they play IOU? i can't remember... - Tue, 22 May 2007 4:21pm
DTjackson User Info... | There was no IOU. The only songs I remember that weren't new were NEW WORLD UNDERGROUND: Hustle Rose, Combat Baby and The List. Live It Out: Poster of a Girl and Monster Hospital Grow up and Blow Away: Rock Me Now The rest were new new new new. - Tue, 22 May 2007 9:49pm
