RockNRollRobbieBoyTheRockNRollRockStar User Info... | Ronnie James Dio - second greatest voice on the planet next to Rob Halford (Paul Rodgers is number 3) that I've had the pleasure of witnessing. Down just about stole the show. 1/2 of Pantera with Pepper from COC, Jimmy Bower and Kirk Windstein ripped it up. Megadeth had some technical problems but carried on. Anyone who doesn't like them is missing a band that can stand with the best of them. Both Dave Mustaine and Glen Drover are killer guitarists. The level of musicianship is top notch. Heaven & Hell brought the legend to life playing 3 new songs with almost all of the Dio era hits plus some gems like Lady Evil and Falling Of the Edge Of The World. Just Awesome. - Mon, 12 Mar 2007 6:08pm
kaos User Info... | i missed down, but i agree with the rest of your statements. heaven and hell were phenominal and classy. - Mon, 12 Mar 2007 6:27pm
Mr. Hell User Info... | Arrived late. I literally caught the last note of Down's set. Sounded decent. I heard mixed reviews from people who were able to witness it. 60% were positive, so it was probably fairly good. Megadeth...mehgadeth. The new guys are talented, yes. They really lack personality up there and they don't possess a certain style that stands out to my ears. Like generic musical hitmen. I saw Megadeth on the Clash Of The Titans tour with Ellefson, Friedman and Menza back in 1991. That was waaaaaay better by light years. The band doesn't have the fire anymore. Probably a combination of player changes, aging and Dave finding the goode lourde, Jeezus Cripes. Their group curtain call and extended Mustaine speech at the end was really unnecessary and undeserved. The post Rust In Peace material is not memorable. The old joke goes: "What's worse than Dave Mustaine singing a song? Dave Mustaine singing a song in French." Very true dat yo. I'll give them that the newest material sounds more akin to the Megadeth of old. Perhaps there is hope? Nah. I doubt it. Oh, and their sound was awful. BLACK SABBATH were really great. Dio's voice was in fine form, although he did lose volume at times through his pulling the mic away from his mouth for intensity control. The band were dead on. Great sound (except the bass could have been turned up some) and seeing Iommi lurking around that stage playing those classic riffs was very inspiring. I would have liked to have heard Country Girl. The set was quite solid regardless. Stand outs included what you might expect. The Mob Rules, Heaven And Hell, Neon Knights, Children Of The Sea, Die Young and the mighty Sign Of The Southern Cross. The three new tunes were fairly good...some catchy parts and soaring vocals overtop. Glad I got to witness this historic show. Also got to speak with a friend afterward who has the Perish show on video. Sounds like that gold nugget will appear soon. Great job, Black Sabbath!! After a few months of touring they will be even more amazing. - Mon, 12 Mar 2007 6:27pm Edited: Mon, 12 Mar 2007 6:30pm
theWolf User Info... | DOWN was amazing, never saw them before but the Bass line was punching and Phil's vocals and attitude was amazing. He seemed genuinely glad to be there and wowed at the crowd that came to see them. Seemed like every 2nd shirt sold was a Down shirt. Megadeth=MegaSound problems ... Sound went from mind blowingly good for an opener "DOWN" to horrible for Megadeth. Started with a screech that had musicians grimacing to sound cutting out on the left side. One of my friends said "Someone got fired that night" . It was nice to see "Dave" but...It seemed like a case of going through the motions Heaven And Hell A great show, loved the backdrop and the Amps behind the fence... I don't think the CFOX guys and "eye candy gal" were needed to introduce Heaven and Hell... The lame CFOX joke to start it off, must have been cause of all the pot in the air "Which wasn't as much at most other shows" The Dragons got stuck at the border, still not sure if a prop got stuck or they were cracking a Dio fantasy joke? "Get the Dwarf out here to sing!" is what I heard shouted out on the floor by a concert goer LOL Awesome show, Geezer Butlers fingers move a mile a minute on the Bass and it was amazing to see Tony I on the guitar. Those are rock stars in the flesh, Vinnie A looked like he was having a blast on the drums. Funny to see they have the Token keyboardist off to the side of the stage behind the curtain all in all a great show. P.S. Dio prances up on stage way more fem than Rob. Halford.... lol... wow always primping and gesturing... - Mon, 12 Mar 2007 7:36pm
mikey User Info... | Best night that I've had in a long time. Such a good way to spend $75. DOWN was awesome, I had waited 12 years to see them, and it was worth it. Every song was my favorite, I wish they had included Temptations Wings though. Megadeth, not as good. I love em and was glad to see them, but the sound was crap and the setlist wasn't the greatest. Two brand new tracks, and the friggin french song? Symphony and Peace Sells were killer, and they encored with Holy Wars. So the ending was rad. Dio and Sabbath was amazing. Consider me a convert. I finally got to be in the same room as Tony and Geezer, and hearing them live is another item on the list of things to do before i die. I am not familiar with the Dio era songs, but I was loving it and rocking out thoughout the entire nigh-on two hour set. For a bunch of grandfathers they sure can rock. - Mon, 12 Mar 2007 8:02pm
Mean Mike User Info... | Decent show.. thought Megadeth were the show stealer ultimately but Dio Sabbath were very decent. Down were ok too but kind of boring and reminded a few of us of the Brass Rail days of rehashed blues rock licks. Thought it was funny how the spotlight remained on Megadave even when the other guy was doing Marty's leads. Geezers fingers are fast like lightning.. Dio is a midget. Loved the red light on the face effect during the song Heaven & Hell.. but thought it sucked that they flashed Live Evil artwork all over the backdrops, the tour shirts, the adverts.. yet they didnt play any classic Sabbath as they did on Live Evil.. Well at least they didnt play Rainbow in The Dark haha And Megadave's encore meant Sabbath played one less song on theirs. Partied at a beach house in White Rock afterwards... good times. - Mon, 12 Mar 2007 8:49pm Edited: Mon, 12 Mar 2007 8:50pm

Lord Darkith User Info... | Got there pretty early, noticed that it wasnt the most metal crowd out there, definately one of the fewest long haired metal events ive been too (saw quite a few mullets, im guessing because that's 80's?). Anyways Down came up and like usual Phil was skilled at getting the crowd into being there, was definately the best sounding out of all the bands there. Heads were banging and the moshpit was going strong, the definite highlight being Stone The Crow of course sounding perfect. So than Megadeth came on and the first song was something off United Abominations, although at times I almost senses a Black Mail The Universe sound going on. Anyhow they went right into Wake Up Dead that was along with Holy Wars atleast for me a highlight of the show, I must have came close to breaking my neck headbanging so hard and probably hitting a lot of people with my hair. So.. Megadeth was indeed the best band of the concert, just because they have the best material but... there sound wasn't at its best and at times it was hard to hear notes.. still however it was a euphoric experience. Onto Black Sabbath (or Heaven and Hell). This was the most theatrical and probably enjoyable (visually that is) band to watch. A epic castle set that had light panning through cross filled windows and lamps filled with flames, definately an awestriking set. Songs were all quite good even if I havent heard that much Dio Sabbath material. The highlight however was what was supposed to be the ending the title song called Heaven and Hell. The best part however was when Dio started to get into a segment about hell and red light quickly blasted him turning him into a hideous devil creature, which created the effect perfectly. All in all ending with Neon Knights, Black Sabbath was superb and was the best performers of the night (im suprised Ronnie had so much energy and that Iommi could even play at this level at his age). All in all this concert ruled.. and I hope to see all of you at something similiar or even to see either of these three bands again. \m/ - Mon, 12 Mar 2007 10:45pm
RockNRollRobbieBoyTheRockNRollRockStar User Info... | Thanks for posting the pics Mean Mike. Also Big Val came across the stage during Down and put somebody in their place. Too Cool. - Tue, 13 Mar 2007 12:03am
Bryan User Info... | I was expecting to hate Down, but they actually were pretty solid, albeit nowhere near loud enough. I'd love to see them in a smaller venue with a huge sound system. Megadeth kind of bored me between the shitty sound and the fact that I'm just not down with their material, but I guess if you're a Megadeth fan it would have been pretty cool. Heaven and Hell was pretty good, but to be honest I was kind of expecting more. It seemed to me like they were dragging the songs out at times and not really building much momentum... then again it didn't help that I was kind of panicking during the start of their set because my friend who I went with had gotten thrown out for being too drunk and I didn't know what to do about it... oh well, still a pretty fucking solid concert. - Tue, 13 Mar 2007 12:35am
bad fairy User Info... | I personally thought Down rocked....Phil was hilarious......Megadeth for sure had some sound problems but it didn't seem to stop audience participation, everyone was still singing along! Heaven & Hell....well what's there to say other than that was fakin' wicked. Dio is the smallest dude EVER...but he's got the pipes! PS: I think I got my cornea sliced open by some chicks hair being whipped around - Tue, 13 Mar 2007 11:22am
metalqueen User Info... | Down was awesome! felt the vibe for sure from those guys...but we missed the first set(shitty!)Megadeth killed the show in my opinion.Fuck Dave plays a mean axe, loved it all the way.Heaven and Hell.....well allright I guess,I found it kinda dragged on and I actually fell asleep in the last 15 min. of the show lol.But for a last minute choice to go,glad I went!!!! The beach house was awesome too after the show in White Rock....had some good chuckles there specially when I was playing the guitar and Heather jumped up and it hooked on to her purse and she was dragging it around and didnt even know.....fuck that was hilarious! Oh and partying with Lance and Brenda....well lets see.....got kicked out of the state room on the ferry for smoking weed, took out a garbage can on the side of the road and got pulled over by the cops for speeding....it was quite the adventure for sure lol!!!! - Tue, 13 Mar 2007 3:34pm Edited: Tue, 13 Mar 2007 3:43pm

PotemkinCity User Info... | yeah DOWN fucking threw down and got the crowd to a level of intesity i could feel from the far off section i got, although i cannot complain for the $20 price tag, definiitly not the worst seats oin the house. but seriously, i couldn't believe they didn't play temptations wings, i was choked, although what they did play was fucking incredible. at 40 i'd say Phil Anselmo is going to be prolific [barring an untimely death, or relapse] well into his 60's, 70's. what a champ. i really liked the autographed posters and was well worth the 25$. megadeth were tight, despite the technical problems they can still lay the licks on, i got a lot of video i'll up it on myspace in the coming days which is fairly decent. i got a few good pictures that ill also include in the blog. mustaine can definitly still shred and gave us all a lot of proof. theiur setlist, while allright, was lacking a lot of songs i was expecting to hear. maybe he just didnt have enough gas in his tank. what else can i say about heaven and hell [that hasn't already been said] is holy fucking shit, i was in awe. apart from being completely as high as i've ever been [i use the term loosely however] but seriously, it was like a nonstop barrage of doobies, i was totally in awe of the impressiveness of Dio's voice and Tony I's fantastic guitarwork. the backdrop was amazing, i loved the marshall stacks behiund the fence and the friggin LIGHTING blew me away man, like...totally. near the end i admit i nodded off a little, but it was during, i believe the 3rd new song, the power ballad, fuck man, DIO just wails. i got a deadly video of the drum solo and encore, i'll be possting that up as well. the drum solo - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3m37upLEC9o afterwords, it was a blast at the cobalt, i'll never, ever forget this guys rendition of "holy diver" that was fucking p[roceless, i didnt have my camera out for iut, unfortunatly, i didnt get it out until Mr Chi Pig shut it down with a fucking damn impressive rendition of "hurt" i got the last 1:50 of it and up on you tube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tksKAK8yCHU walking back to in the friggin downpour was, uhm, fun-ish i suppose. all in all, this show is definitly in my top 10. - Tue, 13 Mar 2007 8:56pm Edited: Tue, 13 Mar 2007 9:49pm
ricky jak User Info... | MOMMA!!! The song E5150 started and everybody left thier seats. (unlike Down and Mega Death where most of the people just sat.... hmmmmm) anyway the song E5150 started and i stood up and started to get goose bumps.... i started to shake and my head became weak... alls i could say was "OH MY GOD" then i started to scream "Oh MY GOD OH MY GOD!" my body started to collapse as i held my hands too my head i just couldn't believe this was happenning! I keeled over still holding my head then when Dio and Tony and Geezer and Vinnie took to the stage.... "I was just like one of those girls in that old footage of the Beatles getting off the plane" I was screamming and almost passing out! The next thing is see is my little 13 year old daughter grabbing me and yelling at me "GET A HOLD OFF YOURSELF OLD MAN!" I repostured myself and looked down at this little cool chick that is my daughter and she was sporting her new black Heavan & Hell t-shirt. The song MOB RULES started and she stood there beside me banging her head and singing... her hair flying everywhere. DAMB SHE'S COOL! I focused and started to sing along myself! Raising my fist and banged the whole set! My voice was horse and rough from screaming... still i sang to them all. WHAT A GREAT SHOW! It was one of the best and now my live show expieriences is near complete. This show made my top ten list. This was METAL at its best... if not THEE BEST! love -ricky JaK p.s. arent you glad I'm not your DAD... i still don't know how i got such a cool daughter? - Tue, 13 Mar 2007 11:01pm
