ricky jak User Info... | Whewwww. This band is still one of my favorites. They have been at it for thirty years and still blast out a live show that infn your an alt music fan you should expierence. My record player has been unusable for near ten years now so i haven't listened to the old songs for quite some time. I did infact buy their new CD two months ago and have spent a ton of time listening.... so they came on stage and played 5 or 6 new songs that satisfied me to the fullest. Then they proceeded to execute a ton of classics. The dance floor was just hopping. Wheww! Worth every dollar and more! On a side note.... to the skin that made the shape of a gun with his hand and pretended to shoot my friend.... "If your gonna shoot it you better eat it" or maybe you should go to rap shows instead. Great time none the less. love -ricky jak - Tue, 1 Aug 2006 1:23am
Jesspsycho User Info... | I have been listening to a lot of the old Buzzcocks stuff lately so when I heard about the show I was super stoked. I was a little worried that it wouldnt meet up to my expectations of seeing the Buzzcocks live but WOW. They were awesome. And I'm not sure when they fixed Sugar up (I havent been since the Misfits) but the setup is way better now. A little easier for a short gal like me to see the band. Rad show ! - Tue, 1 Aug 2006 2:26pm
Ty Stranglehold User Info... | Buzzcoks ruled without a doubt. The two pening bands were brutal though. The first one The Strays, were perhaps English ( the table was divided wether the accents were real). and had the whole "Get to the front, we rule!" attitude. Bland light hearted pop that was made hillarious by the exclaimations of the singer. "let's start a riot" and "this song is about getting arrested" just don't work with la-la-la-la-la pop. The Adore were next (nice grammar there). These guys had accents too, even though they were claiming "L.A.". The singer was so flamboyant, he made Mr. Chi Pig look like Charles Atlas. Craptastic! Now my biggest complaints are this: If you say "Early Show" make it a fucking early show. Some of us old people have babysitters and the like. I can't believe I just typed that but it's true. I don't care if one of the opening acts doesn't make the boat, GO WITHOUT THEM!!! No one came to see them anyways. What was the deal with the mics and bass feeding back? Pretty lame sound work there. The Buzzcocks seemed to be getting a little irrate with it too. Perhaps that was why they took out the whole front row of mics at the end of the set? At any rate, it should have been fixed during the opening bands. Speaking of the lame opening bands, whne I'm watching the Buzzcocks totally kick every single ass in the room, the last thing I want to see is the opening acts getting up on stage, acting like goons, and fucking up the songs. I came to see the Buzzcocks sing "Orgasm Addcit" not the freak from The Adore who just wants to kiss the neck of the bass player in between choruses. I don't want to see that little singer from The Stray who looks like Rod Stewart to continually fuck up the lyrics. You should have known them 20 years ago, not to mention that you've been on tour with them fot a number of weeks... Jackasses. I may sound bitter, but in the end I saw the Buzzcocks rule and that is all that matters. - Tue, 1 Aug 2006 10:58pm
amy User Info... | I thought both opening bands were decent. the second band probably had catchier songs than the first but I found them to be a bit pretentious. Let's face it though, we were all there to see the buzzcocks and they were indeed in top form. I didn't recognize the first bunch of songs which I would guess are from the new album - they sounded good but I need to hear them a few more times (I plan to buy the new album soon!). It was when the band started playing from their incredible back catalogue that I noticed everyone got more into it (myself included). Songs like "Autonomy" and "Why Can't I Touch It?" sounded better than I've ever heard them. I thought the band sounded tighter than when I saw them in 94. The new drummer sounded absolutely fabulous and was rock solid (I think!) - I'm not a drummer so that is only as far as I can tell. My only complaint was with the sound - it was too loud (my ears have been ringing ever since) and as Ty mentioned, there was an annoying hum/feedback between many of the songs. Is it just me or does the sound usually suck at Sugar? Overall, I thought it was an excellent show and I've had all those great songs stuck in my head for the past 24 hours. The best show i've seen in ages. praise the buzzcocks! - Wed, 2 Aug 2006 2:49am
Lurker User Info... | "Princess... you think you're a queen." --- So Catchy. Seriously, those opening bands were the flamin'est piece o' shit crapfest losers you could ever ask for. Brit pop sucks. Dancy queercore sucks. Think Hot Hot Shit with no keyboards, worse lyrics, and dance moves that don't belong outside a drag show during pride week. Not trying to sound overly homophobic but come on dude... wrong show for this band. The Buzzcocks were great though. Couldn't have asked for a better set from them (aside from less humming feedback as Ty stated). Pete Shelley's voice sounded amazingly like the early years of the Buzzcocks, considering it's now thirty years later. The show definitely could have been earlier for something promoted as an early show - there was a lot of wait time before and in between bands. Oh well, still got back to Nanaimo by 2:00. - Wed, 2 Aug 2006 7:15am Edited: Wed, 2 Aug 2006 7:15am

"If your gonna shoot it you better eat it" Yeah, I saw you you eyeballin me, maybe you should have been eyeballing your friend dancing while making obscene gestures at my girlfriend, which is the whole reason my little invisible friend came out of his holster. anyone else would have been alot more uncouth. I chose to draw the line at that. Fair enough? - Wed, 2 Aug 2006 10:26pm
