Andrew User Info... | Ok Well since nobody is starting this thread I thought that i would do it. This review means nothign because I am not really into Ska but here goes. Hopefully some Ska people get in here and review. Kiltlifters: Pretty damn good. Didn't get the whole playing the sax like a guitar thing, but what the hell right? Fun. La Severa Matacera: Kicked ass. like i said, not into ska but i loved this band. Great presence and crowd interation. Hats off. They stole the show for me. THE AGGROLITES: Everyone seemed to like these guys a lot. JUNIOR REID w/The Reggae Angels, Wada, Andrew Blood & Baja B: By this time i was pretty tired and just chilled outside for most of the set. Heard good things. ----- anyways i think somebody else should review this, as i dont have much (or any) ska background to do justice. Tyler User Info... | I have tons of pictures and stuff, I'll put them up eventually. The kiltlifters were good as always even though they didn't play "pass the popcorn". what was up with the lights? awesome presence, tons of fun, and I love that variety of ska La Severa Matacera were awesome, I loved the varying styles. rock, acid jazz, latin, synthy stuff, all bound together in a reggae/ska frame with soulful vocals. during that tango-ish song the first time, some very attractive girl at the front pulled me to her and kissed me and shit. was she drunk? probably a bit. but I miss her. someone give me her contact info because after that song I went back for my camera and I didn't run into her again. I DIGRESS. good band, lots of incorporated styles, everyone loved them. they were good at the free show. and they hung out at the reef for a while so I got to talk to them! woo. aggrolites!! so cool. so like leather-jacket scummy rocker reggae-ish. like the fonz or something. I have no idea what I'm saying. I loved this band and the dual organs were sweet. they were really energetic and I loved their style since I haven't heard much similar to it. the rest of the night. one band playing reggae to a lot of different vocalists. sooo mellow. whoahhh. there was some crazy otherworldy vibe (tiredness was probably a factor) that made me thing it was awesome and I'll probably never forget it. I think my favourite of all the last bit was those two guys who had dueling vocal parts, in terms of excitement, but definetely the rest for craazy mellow vibe. this is probably a crappy review but whatever, I loved the night, victoria ska festival rules. - Mon, 17 Jul 2006 1:46am | ||
