Sat. July 1st 2006 Video-In Studios - ALL AGES (All Ages) Blood Box, Sistrenatus, The Rita, Scab, Kelly Churko, griefer, G42, Taskmaster

An old friend who goes to near all of these shows said it was the best noise he'd EVER been to.

Griefer - perfect balance of movement, voice, audio dynamics, and it made me want to get up and bash the shit out of things too, and thats not normal for me. yes, tons to be really fucking angry about and it reached us.
Scab - Masa threw around a bunch of amps (finally up over himself) and the set had people running up after to ask if he was ok. Anyone who knows him knows he was having the time of his life, pinky injury & all!
Kelly Churko (also of Hospital) - Last week's set on his laptop started calmer, and seemed like a deeper, more moving, less percussive, far more brutal, classical assault in some ways, but he brought out a guitar and voice mic on top of other electronics this night which drove people to get involved. This time we could also SEE his skills in play. (you snooze you lose, he's back to Tokyo today after these & several jazzfest shows)
The Rita - I haven't seen him a ton, but someone who had said that that was the most animated set he's ever done - he was thrashing around, totally ecstatic, obviously in response to earlier performers.

Being burnt out with a headache from the sun and not prepared to be there (thought the show was Sunday!), I couldn't process but could only feel the rest, but people were raving. A big part of the show was how fired up some of these guys were off it all (players AND audience). Such brutal/primal displays have to happen more often. Cuz they need it.
p.s. Flat Gray & Broken Sleep also went over big last week! - Sun, 2 Jul 2006 2:20pm Edited: Sun, 2 Jul 2006 2:29pm
