trevor corey User Info... | Classic smooth jazz, very cool. Quartet comprised of piano, stand up bass(big butch bull fiddle), drums, and Bobby on the Xyla. Put my wife to sleep, but I loved it. - Sun, 25 Jun 2006 12:49am
Tyler User Info... | bobby hutcherson plays the vibraphone, not the "Xyla". it's definetely not "smooth jazz" either. if it fell into any category, it'd be a mix of the harmonic developments and speed of post-bop with the freedom of free jazz. and I have no idea how such technical mastery and complex harmonic structures could put a person to sleep. anyway I was glad he played a lot from his 1965 release, Dialogue, which is probably his best stuff. I have been a fan since before I started playing music and before I really heavily got into jazz. He truly is one of the best vibraphone players ever, next only to Lionel Hampton. It was an amazing time and I have a video of every song. Low quality video footage but really good sound. - Sun, 25 Jun 2006 12:55am Edited: Sun, 25 Jun 2006 12:57am
trevor corey User Info... | Did I say xyla? Gotta git my grade ten. Hey,you don't know Lucy, she can fall asleep to anything she wants. Nice to know there was such an expert at the show to clear things up. - Sun, 25 Jun 2006 1:48am
