_Griphin_ User Info... | I won't be at this show, so for those who went to the show, let's see some reviews. I'll be at home reading, you people have fun!!! - Fri, 23 Jun 2006 4:43pm Edited: Fri, 23 Jun 2006 10:03pm
Ty Stranglehold User Info... | Let's get this started while I'm still drunk. Grey Army: Kicking ass and taking names. Lots of support out for these boys tonight. My only beef is the "first band plays forever" syndrome and the fact that I feel so bad for the singer's throat. You can almost feel the pain. Keg Killers: A good set. Everyone was hitting it and Dust's voice was bang-on tonight! Denying Matlock his "Smokes" and their cover of "Danny Says" were highlights. The Subhumans: Am I biased because they are one of my favorite bands of ALL TIME? Maybe, I know for a fact that they kicked so much ass. A set full of classics will a few new tunes in there that seemed to fit right in. "Death To The Sickoids" and "Firing Squad" back to back was almost too to handle. Of course they finished with "Fuck You". I can't wait until that new record comes out in the Fall. Now I need some sleep because I'm getting up for a breakfast interview with the Subhumans! - Sat, 24 Jun 2006 3:14am
ricky jak User Info... | The Subhumans where the first punk rock gig i ever went to. The Subhumans are one of my favorites and still are. It was great to see them and hear those songs i haven't heard live for 25 years. Shit eh. where has the time gone? but hey... No GOBBING.... Wimpy never strangled anybody with the mic cord, Wimpy never booted anyone in the front row. - Sat, 24 Jun 2006 7:15am
_Griphin_ User Info... | It's wierd, I was never big into the Subhumans (CAN), now the UK SubHumAns, there's a killer band!!! Actually, I ended up sleeping last night, strange. - Sat, 24 Jun 2006 10:45am Edited: Sat, 24 Jun 2006 10:46am
Andrew User Info... | i have to see the grey army. the drummer in the band im in has a couple of their cds. - Sat, 24 Jun 2006 11:44am
Ty Stranglehold User Info... | I may take some shit for this but The Subhumans (CAN) are a far superior band. I do like those UK guys as well though. - Sat, 24 Jun 2006 2:36pm
NOISE NOT BOMBS User Info... | Ok I missed half the show but got in for the subhumans part. I wasn't gonna pay a bar $12 to see a show with only 2 good bands. Some of the guys from Keg killers are nice and all, but I was outside durring their set along with what seamed like 1/3 of the bar, I guess making racist jokes was cool in the 80's but c'mon, move on and evolve... As for grey army, sorry I missed them, from what countless people were saying, they played the best set they ever played... And I heard they only practiced 4 times with their new drummer 9stand in drummer). Now the good part Subhumans, well I have seen a lot of dinosaur bands, conflict, the vibrators, anti no wear leauge, D.O.A., and so on... I would have to say performance wise, that subhumans were not as good as some of them, but... There is two things that separate them from the rest... one is that they are still putting out new material, unlike most that just play the nastalgia cxercuit for cash, throwing away all their ethics, subhumans are still writing, that gives me respect for them. The other thing is that none of those other bands had a member who fire bombed a porn store, for selling rape films. So over all I have seen better performances, but my respect for Gary Hanna, makes up for it. I would like tyo thank Gary for what he did for all of us. As for the UK subhumans, I saw them in montreal last year, at united fest, they had a crowd of about 4000 and about half became the pit... But I still liked conflict better, best show I have seen yet I think, was conflict in a small venue the next night... - Sat, 24 Jun 2006 4:19pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | SubHumAns - From the Cradle to the Grave, now there's a classic album!!! What's even cooler, they eventually became Citizen Fish, another really good band IMO. Yes, Subhumans (CAN) were one of the first punk bands in BC, I dunno why I didn't get into the band, Death to the Sickoids is a great tune (same with a few other of their songs) but is it worth paying the coin for 1 or 2 decent songs?!? Sigh, I miss drinking, gives ya something to do to get over the boredom right? - Sat, 24 Jun 2006 5:25pm
NOISE NOT BOMBS User Info... | personally I look forward to hearing their new stuff more. Every one that likes these old bands though should come see imperial Leather on Monday, their not old, but their members have been in so many great bands like the Varukers and DS:13 - Sat, 24 Jun 2006 5:48pm
Ty Stranglehold User Info... | I seem to remember Dustin making a crack about making racist jokes, but I don't think I heard any... Was that Hitler drinking whiskey thing racist? Anyways, in takling with the Subhumans today we discussed many of the things being talked about here. They all agreed that the only reason that they're doing it is because of the writing and new songs. No point in flogging a re-hash revival show. Another thing is that they wear their politics proudly on their sleeve. Gerry is quick to point out though, that what he did in the 80's is only a small part of the band and it shouldn't be the sole focus. They're artists just trying to get their art out there. Can't wait for the new record. - Sat, 24 Jun 2006 9:31pm
the grey army User Info... | Actually it is our bass player who is M.I.A. right now. the dude standing in for the incredible Tex is Dave Snow (ex One Drop). But yes its true that practice time was mimimal for this one so i'm stoked that everyone was down with the set. Fun night, first time seeing the Subhumans, not dissapointed, and the Keg Killers are always fun. BLOW JOBS! - Sun, 25 Jun 2006 11:09am
muddy jak User Info... | hey noise, if you werent outside smoking , you would have heard the whole song , its about how the new pope was in the hitler youth and now he,s the pope, its not endorsing it jack ass , its about irony , tongue in check , actually its pretty funny , our singers last name is schwam, figure it out,who would have the thought the new pope would be ultra conservative and a former member of the hitler youth ? not me - Sun, 25 Jun 2006 4:58pm
Revolutions always end in tyranny User Info... | Man..., Ive met enough of these so called "anarchists" to know thier mentallity. They'd call you racist just for saying you prefer white rice over brown. - Sun, 25 Jun 2006 8:16pm Edited: Sun, 25 Jun 2006 8:17pm
NOISE NOT BOMBS User Info... | as I have said before, you got some thing to say to me, don't diss me on livevic message boards, my e mail is [email protected] or my myspace is http://www.myspace.com/satanicanarchyandpeace or come say it in person, every wensday I am at green cusine 4-6pm, but this wensday I may not, next week I will be though, and every monday (other than tonight) I am at crystal pool from 9pm-11pm. Say it in person or shut it. as for me being out side smoking... thats cute, I am sXe you know... lol... Subhumans were still good though... and as for the uk subhumans, I still liked the day the country died album best... - Mon, 26 Jun 2006 5:18pm Edited: Mon, 26 Jun 2006 5:19pm
Ty Stranglehold User Info... | I really don't want to fan the flames on this but I've got to point out that NOISE NOT BOMBS was the one dissing the Keg Killers on livevic. Muddy just responded to the original comment and explained the song and joke in question (which still isn't racist. In bad taste perhaps, but not racist). I guess you could take offense to being called a smoker, but that's pretty thin-skined. You can talk to me on livevic about it as I have no interest in going to green cusine to meet you. - Mon, 26 Jun 2006 8:16pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | CRAP NOT GIGS!!! :) - Tue, 27 Jun 2006 12:37am
NOISE NOT BOMBS User Info... | ok. I was mistaken, I admit it and appologize. While standing outside, a groue of people left the bar and were talking loudly about the singer making racist jokes, thats where I got the idea, I appologize for not looking into it first. Other than that, I stand by all I said, as it was my oppinion on the night. Again, it was not intended in any way to be shit talking, I was reviewing the show. The exsplanation of the joke is good enough, makes sense to me. Also I take no insult to being called a smoker, I just thought it was funny... - Tue, 27 Jun 2006 8:43pm
