Message Board > Show Reviews > Sunday Afternoon Acoustic Jam at the Waterwheel Pub hosted by Ian McDowell |
Anonymous User Info... | Wow - what an incredible afternoon. Thank you to all the talented musicians who came out to jam. It is just getting better and better every week! Remember start time is 1 pm so we can fit in all the players! Steve Lezec whose renditions of Johnny Cash classics such as "Folsom Prison" are a hit every week. Richard Church, with his original songs, bring a wonderful romantic touch for the ladies especially! Peter McLeod, brought out his incredible electric acoustic GRETSCH and rocked the house with tunes such as "Tokyo" by Bruce Coburn...close your eyes and you would swear you were hearing Bruce in person! A special thank you to Norm Streeter (Roxxlyde) guitarist/vocalist for dragging out Nigel Hawkins (Roxxlyde - he called him via cell phone in the middle of one of the tunes!) The ACDC acoustic version of "Night Prowler" brought the house down. I have to say for Ian, this was an honor and an incredible moment. Back in the early 80's, Nigel gave Ian the opportunity to sing on stage with Roxxlyde at the Sunset Cabaret. It was from that opportunity (to rock with one of the best vocalists around) that Ian was asked to join various bands. He chose "Presence" and the rest is Rock & Roll history as they say. It was a thrill to watch them all come together and jam (thanks to Norm for playing the drums on the garbage can! hahaha.) A special thank you to all the staff at the Waterwheel - Ryan for helping make this happen and all the bar staff that are having to work harder on Sunday afternoons now! Of course, a special thank you to all the talented musicians who come out every week to participate and all the people who are coming out just to listen.... Come on out on a Sunday afternoon and join in the fun..you will NOT be disappointed. There is something for everyone... - Mon, 22 May 2006 11:38am Edited: Mon, 22 May 2006 6:32pm | ||
