Sati User Info... | I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but it turned out to be a pretty good night! IM always brings out a decent crowd, but I think maybe it was DJ that brought out a lot of the freakier types too. I messed up and missed all of Inhuman, so all I can say is that girl's corpse paint and outfit always look stunning, and people were in a really good mood after. Do they have more members now? Seemed like a lot of paint out that night. IM were by far the best I've heard them since the old Cobalt days - that was wicked! I thought they'd be up high on the back stage like the bands last wknd, but they were down on the floor, so that was a rare treat for their crowd. I've heard people trying to dis the bar cuz of the lack of stage, but most bands I've talked to like it. Its more like a house party and bands who actually have friends & fans have way more fun being down there with them. We won't always be able to see these bands that way.. (the view from side stage is absolutely beautiful with no stacks even obstructing now, drums on the left, guitars & vox all lined up... love.) Anyway, this is way more classic, screaming METAL than most of us ever see up close, so there's a lot of respect for those old-school guys. You can feel it in the room. Who else gets up there strutting in full leathers anymore, and pulls off that style of white-hot intensity for entire sets? It always makes me think that we have a shot at that "world-class" city title, by having a band like that representing: every other major city I've been to has their equivalents, its a must. Good thing ours is more serious and weighty instead of all that disposable/cheezy out there, that'd suck. DJ were all the theatrical blood-spurting etc that was promised, and did he rip up a bible or something too? But they were way tighter and had a lot more to offer musically than I expected. I was pretty burnt out by then, but they totally kept everyone's attention up til the very end. Well worth it. The sound was back to flawless and wow, a hella lot of leather and hair flowing! Its a good time right now. - Sun, 26 Mar 2006 8:34pm Edited: Sun, 26 Mar 2006 8:43pm
Platoon User Info... | Wish I was there. I play tracks by both bands regularily. The new tracks from Infernal Majesty and Dead Jesus sound pretty killer. - Sun, 26 Mar 2006 11:03pm Edited: Sun, 26 Mar 2006 11:04pm
J User Info... | Dead Jesus... i remember opening for them a while back at soundgarden... that lead singer is fucking crazy... as with the rest of the band. Mind u the crowd wasn't exactly "big". But even with a little less than 80ppl he still jumped and swan dove onto tacks... w/o a shirt on aaaand he was wearing a chicken wire halo over his head. they were def. one of the most entertaining band i've seen, but musically.... left up to opinion(not my bag but they were fairly well put together) - Wed, 29 Mar 2006 12:36pm Edited: Wed, 29 Mar 2006 12:38pm
nicola User Info... | I played a show with Dead Jesus years ago in my old band... I think it might have been the soundgarden show you mentioned... I missed the blood (I was loading gear)... but heard all about it from my mom who came to cheer me on. Apparently they put on quite the stage show. - Fri, 31 Mar 2006 1:47am Edited: Fri, 31 Mar 2006 1:56am
ML7Mike User Info... | Glenn of Dead Jesus grew up in Victoria and jammed with Mr Hell (ML7, Run Like Hell), Craig Stewart (ex Allfather, ex Goatwar, Black Lotus) and myself after I answered an add at Tempo Trend, its actually how I met those nerds. - Fri, 31 Mar 2006 10:54am Edited: Fri, 31 Mar 2006 10:57am
Mr. Hell User Info... | Me and Mr. Goblinface got Glen out of Cinderella and into Darkthrone. A song we all used to play called Mortuary ended up on the first Dead Jesus recording a bit reworked. Good guys and great showmen. Through the legendary Tempo Trend ad, we met that Scenester Selman guy. - Fri, 31 Mar 2006 3:57pm Edited: Fri, 31 Mar 2006 4:02pm
