Bump to review section?

The chips and pop were sadly a rumour. There were still great performances by some great bands, it's too bad no one came, but what can one expect from a $10 concert at noon sans booze. Still, got to see some great acts. It was nice to be able to just go see a bunch of bands and actually communicate constructive criticism and stuff. Here's my personal thoughts:

Autumn's Even has a great start and played a pretty good first show. The singer just has to make sure he's singing directly into the mic cause we can't hear anything when you were off to the side (they're directional, remember). You're a good singer, let's hear it. Keep it up.

Hollydene had some wicked licks with some very quick picking and some sweet tap harmonics, which you just don't see enough of. Good atmospherics too, those gadgets come in handy. Give me all of your gear. Too bad more tech = more tech difficulties sometimes, but this is coming from the guy who unknowingly had his wah on for 2 songs. Also, God damn it sounded fat when you guys kicked into your loud parts.

One Eleven Archer was fucking dope. If the venue didn't lend itself to sitting, thinking, and being sober, I'd have been rocking my spine in half. Rhythm section and songwriting in general was crazy tight, you guys shifted rhythm and intensity at all the exact right times. Mike needs to rock out harder on stage, but I'm guessing that had a lot to do with the whole noon/"it's really bright in here" deal. I also dug the fact that you guys weren't scenesters; it's refreshing hear some of the best hard rock/punk coming from guys you'd never guess played it because they're actually concentrating on the music and not their fucking hair.

I missed YumYumBangBang, unfortunately. But I'll be sure to catch you another time as I've heard good things. - Sun, 26 Mar 2006 1:23pm Edited: Sun, 26 Mar 2006 1:58pm
