Brumy User Info... | Bands that played Blind Eye, Suburbia, Kilamanca, Acidwash, Maurice tell us what you thought - Fri, 24 Feb 2006 11:16pm
Peter Gardner User Info... | Fun show! Blind Eye - Wayyyyyy better than when I saw them last. I thought this set was much tighter and better sounding. And no Fall Out Boy! Hehe. Good stuff guys. Suburbia - Shit Kilamanca - Again, wayyyyy better than when I saw them last. I really liked this set a lot actually. The City is a bitchin' song and even though not many people sang along, it was good times. And Fall Goodbye now has the line "Momma made Rubarb Pie". Why? Because I said so. Acid Wash - Not really my type of music but for what it was it was good. "I met the devil and he gave me his card and the number was 1! 2! 3! 4!". Cool bassist. And on the bright side, the sound system didn't blow up like the last time i saw them! Maurice - Wow wow wow wow. The played what, 14 songs? It was so awesome so see them play a nice long set. I heard they were working out a deal with Warner Brothers records. If this is true, they deserve it. So good. So good. So good. All in all a fun show. Props to Dan the Soundman, who is really the best sound guy in Victoria. Plus he has bitchin' stickers. His face is now on my guitar case. This is exciting. Thanks to Kilamanca and Acidwash for putting it on. - Fri, 24 Feb 2006 11:43pm
Tom H User Info... | Blind Eye-Definitely impressed by these guys. I like the sound, everything was tight. Suburbia-WAY better than last time. Plus I got one of their CDs for FREE! Kilamanca-My own band Acidwash-Once again these boys belted out the hard rock like no other. Well done. Maurice-Freakin amazing. They opened with Rock Star...what an amazing song. They definitely deserve all the praise they've gotten. It's just too bad more people weren't hanging around for their set. - Sat, 25 Feb 2006 9:56am
YouEnjoyMyself User Info... | Dan the soundman's face is somewhat shocking, but it also adorns my guitar case. He's a crazy bastard. - Sat, 25 Feb 2006 9:57am
SaL User Info... | That was a pretty fun show all around. Turnout could have been a bit better, but a bit of money was made which is always cool. Blind eye: These guys had a good solid set, everything was very tight. The singer had a very radio friendly voice and good work all around. Suburbia: These guys were pretty cool, kind of like matt good meets oasis. Some cool riffs though, and nice dynamics. Kilamanca: Always on top of their game, solid set. Great songs, and some friendly catchy tunes. Hope to hear a full cd soon. Acidwash:....I broke 2 stings haha. but playing with 4 strings is always fun. Maurice- These guys are amazing, I think they definately have what it takes to bring some life back into the pop world. Great songs, wicked enrgy flowing thoughout the members, and talented song-writing. Its been said before, but If you have not seen maurice, you should check them out. Killer show, Hopefully we can put another one on in a couple months. And thanks to all the bands. -Colin - Sat, 25 Feb 2006 11:01am
Dave User Info... | Yes it was a small turnout....maybe 60-70 people? but we broke even, paid out a few bucks to the other bands, and still had some quarters left over to fill our pockets, and had tons of fun. Blind Eye impressed me. Solid, catchy songs with the flavour of today's modern rock. Listenable and energetic. What's even better, they stuck around in support of all of the other bands. It's great to see people out on the floor after their set. Great guys, great music. Suburbia had a Matt Good thing happening... I don't know, maybe the best way to describe it is accoustic rock on electric instruments? ANyway, it sounded really good... you guys bring a unique, artistic sound to the local scene, and diversity is good. I had a fun time playing. That 5000000W light was right up in my face the whole time, so it was a bit hot, but we (Kilamanca) all felt really good about our set. Thanks to everyone who was singing along. Acidwash - I was in there for your first two songs. Sounded good. I really like the song you opened with, probably my fav. that you guys play. Maurice was great. You guys played the room perfectly, in regards to sound, audience interaction, and not wearing shoes? SOund was great too, thanks Dan. All in all, a fun night. Thanks to everyone for professionalism, musical contributions, and overall participation. Definately a feel-good night. Peter, any chance you snapped any photos of us while we were up? - Sat, 25 Feb 2006 2:27pm
