| Sati User Info... | Apparently the loss of Wolves in the Throne Room didn't kill anyone's interest - a great turnout for a (still) great lineup. It seemed like no one bailed! The Rita's set peaked for me when there was some distorted voice thrown in. I was just stoked that these crowds are such expansive music fans that they can accept and even appreciate wildly different sounds like that in their bar and on their bills. Felt good. It blows my mind that Cambodia can play so long and so slow and still have the majority of the crowd so captivated through to the end.. goes to show what a lot of people are probably listening to at home to be so receptive to that sort of thing in a live setting. Acting Ensign!!! I LOVED this and I wasn't prepared to since last time I was kind of ambivalent. So someone clear this up for me - is the bassplayer in this band the singer in... another? CANNOT wait to see AE again - another show here before Xmas please! Please! And Mass Grave's headlining was perfect - they're in great shape for tour and it looks like it'll be well worth seeing them again after, sounding the way they do now. Thoroughly enjoyed their set. You know its a killer show when all night people are saying they wished their bands had been on that bill. It was so great seeing everyone out! Let me add that it DIDN'T happen, save Zuckuss and Snapelgrock because monsters with machines found out *gasp* that you have to take a ferry to Victoria and decided not to come. | hesher User Info... | What a great show. I especially love watching the Cambodia drummer play. She has such good groove and timing. Makes me jealous actually. You can take the triggered drums and hyperblasting death metal shit and stick it cause if you aint got groove you aint got shit. | Sati User Info... | I knew it! I was asking around about the bassplayer last night and got conflicting info. I take it I've played message board tango and possibly e-mailed some of you and have no idea who you, what you play in or what you look like. Damn! oh well, guess we're all wingin it. Yeah, Bina (the Cambodia drummer)'s got a cool style and is in a bunch of projects like Ten Miles Wide and Mendozza... | SewnFlesh User Info... | was a rad show.. the Rita's suicidal stack drop was the peak of the set for me.. having vocals as well really made the set that much better. Cambodia is probly my new favorate local band.. sooo good. i hope that they can come and destroy victoria soon. Acting Ensign played probly our best set out of a basement and it couldn't have come for a better show.. | Stygian User Info... | Thanks a million to Massgrave, especially Goat and hesh, big hugs. Fuck did the Rita ever slay, the bow on the cymbal (amoung other things) was fucking killer. Cambodia slayed me as always (in-fuckin_tense), thanks for inviting the gaygeek-idiots from vancouver island over to play, AE may play like shit but their bright dresses keep people distracted from the fact. Then Massgrave slaughtered me, buried me in a shallow grave, dug me up again an set me on my way. Even with the Wolves not showing up, it was the best show i have been to in a while thats for sure. | Sati User Info... | However do your bandmates keep from pummeling you?? wow, so many of you on here - thats awesome! I have trouble keeping track of people I've spoken with in person though, nevermind this online world. Most often I don't really notice what people onstage look like cuz I'm focussed on instruments/performance, so staring at you for an hour or not, its not often I recognize players afterwards. And if I do, rarely have I retained which one you were, which is embarassing.. d'uh. But yes, thanks for coming out - next time I'll look out for you for sure! Me 5'5", thin, brown skin, black curly hair (btw, is Devon on here?) cool pics.. but hey thats not a girl! And yeah, I would have said the toppling stack was the Rita highlight too, but I've known Masa a long time and don't like encouraging it... still not over drunk blair swinging the mic stand around and nearly taking out him (and bryce) last wknd.
