_Griphin_ User Info... | Anyone planning to check it out?!? - Thu, 29 Sep 2005 7:37pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | I just got back, alas, all I caught was Marice (it was a definate Zone/College crowd, I can never relate to them, it makes you feed old without a few beers to nurse), and there great live. BTW: Steamers has some really nice looking waitresses. Nuff said... - Thu, 29 Sep 2005 11:33pm
cooper User Info... | Just returned from this show and I can't believe how amazing that performance was. I am on a Jets high right now...listening to Sun Sun Sun on repeat over and over again. Maurice, yet again, impressed the heck outta me. JP was a little more toned down this time as compared to the last show I saw, and it added to the overall professionalism of the performance. Sweet keys from Simon, great drumming from Connor, and solid bass work from Devon. Awesome jobs guys, can't wait for an official album release. (and t-shirts!) Jets Overhead...wow...what else to say...first time I've seen 'em in their current format, and they were spot on from beat 1 'til the last delay loop. The sound balance was absolutely perfect (kudos to Joel the sound guy), and I'm not sure if I've ever heard a rock band pull off such perfect vocal harmonies as Adam and Antonia did tonight. Everything - from the sweet 'n' subtle guitar work of Piers, to Jocelyn's tight bass, to the energy put into Luke's drumming - was perfect. Congrats on an absolutely incredible performance, and for an equally incredible album. These tunes will not be leaving my side, or my head, for quite some time. - Fri, 30 Sep 2005 2:13am
_Griphin_ User Info... | aCk... correction. It makes ya feel old without a few beers to nurse I meant. But hey, least the coffee was free! :) - Fri, 30 Sep 2005 9:07am
dooker User Info... | excellent from both bands - makes me proud to be a player from Victoria when I see two solid writing and performing acts play a show that could (and will) go over anywhere... a fine fine night of tunes - I didn't see any waitresses at Steamers but I had a goddess serve us all night - Simon had the sound for Maurice just cooking - impressed by far by teh drummer for Maurice - he is a student of Murray Creed (Groove Studios) - the Maurice drummer has great technique and amazing ears - nice to hear a drummer who doesnt just lay down the beat but plays to the melody and provides structure and dynamics in support of his mates - a pleasure to watch him play - Fri, 30 Sep 2005 9:44am
RollingRocks User Info... | Dooker, you're right bout Connor. He is an awesome drummer. In my opinion, the best part of Maurice's set. Not that everyone else didn't rock, but I think that JP was holding back too much, especially in the "Heavy Heart" choruses. Jets Overhead were dope. "Sun Sun Sun" and "Addiction" were the highlights for me, but everything was great. The balance was perfect. I love the bass lines and the drummer was so intense. It blew me... oh yeah... mmmhmmm... that's the spot. what? - Fri, 30 Sep 2005 10:57am
was it really that good User Info... | You people have obviously forgot what Jets Overhead used to sound like. The new format is good and so is the new material, but, if it was the old line-up...two part harmonies would mean a mic crapped out and incredible drumming would be an understatement. God forbid we should see a third band of the month show from TSJ, let's hope it's because we went back in time. Chances are we wouldn't have and they'd have a new name...get on with it allready. Some of us are losing faith. martin - Mon, 10 Oct 2005 7:02am
