Given some sound issues and the inherent difficulties in translating such sumptuous studio creations into a live concert format, a most satisfying show. I still can - Fri, 23 Sep 2005 11:04am

It was an awesome show. My 3rd time seeing Immaculate Machine, and once again they totally impressed me. Luke is the epitome of what a drummer should be, plus he's a great singer.

Destroyer - Dan Bejar's got some pretty quirky songs, but they sounded pretty damn good. I really hadn't heard any Destroyer before last night, but I liked em.

The New Pornos were definitely the highlight of the night. Came out and opened with my favourite song, Twin Cinema, which I hadn't been able to stop playing all week. I wasn't sure if they'd be able to pull off some of the songs live, but they all sounded really great. I love Neko and AC Newman's voices when they sing together.

All in all a great show. And I don't think that I've ever seen Sugar that packed before. - Fri, 23 Sep 2005 1:05pm

My first time at Sugar actually. Kind of a sweet venue. Immaculate Machine slayed. You're right about Luke, he's fly as they say. And maybe it's just cuz she's a musician, but Kathryn (that is her name, yes?) is a babe. No awkward pauses or anything, which I love in a stage show. Very professional.

Destroyer had some songs that were just kind of... like filler between the ones that really kicked ass. Loved the guitar tones.

My first time seeing the New Pornographers. They blew my face off. I'm a faceless man. I heard talk that Neko wasn't going to be there and I am soooooo glad that it was false talk. She is awesome. I am all about the vocal harmonies and their sound is just incredible. Did anyone else get distracted by the guy in the crowd that kept stomping and yelling out execution? Priceless. - Fri, 23 Sep 2005 2:19pm

First time seeing Immaculate Machine, and they exceeded my expectations. They had a great overall balance. Too bad I missed half of it...

I dug the lead guitar tones of Destroyer, but the singer's voice was a bit much to bear over the course of an entire set.

The New Pornographers were so sweet. That's all I have to say about that. So sweet. - Fri, 23 Sep 2005 5:59pm

yes, totally awesome show. and somehow worked with sugar, which is hard to do. immaculate machine ruled, destroyer ruled, and the new pornographers ruled. they are a goddamn powerhouse, no?

and i've said it once and i'll say it again, dan bejar is a GENIUS. i was impressed with how soulful and danceable destroyer was this time. WAAAAYY better than with frog eyes. whew.

the show at the commodore was even better! - Sat, 24 Sep 2005 11:45pm

Hey, did the Pornographers play "Wild Homes", or did I just create that memory in my head as I drifted off to sleep that night? - Sun, 25 Sep 2005 7:23am

i don't -think- so, but they sort of all melt together for me, i find myself making up medleys by accident.

i totally didn't know that carl had a lisp until these shows! i guess they must edit it our or something, because, man, "sing me spanish techno" has a lot of s's in it, and those weren't s's.... pretty cute, really. - Sun, 25 Sep 2005 3:03pm
