I enjoyed this show!

The Deadbeats... I liked them a lot more than I expected too. I wasn't really into the classic rock and grunge influences they have. But I liked their use of dissonance and odd timings. They were really tight, especially for a band that looked so young. The guitar player was insane for being only 15!! Great solos and songwriting for the most part. Like I said, not completely my thing, but they are doing what they want and are good at it.

Hot Rod Paanaananen I knew nothing about. So I was VERY impressed when I saw them. I LOVE their vocals and approach and everything. I considered it a discovery of one of the better bands in Victoria. I will definetely go to another HRP show. So good.

Counting Heartbeats I already knew I love a lot. I didn't see the crowd reaction as I was at the front taking pictures and enjoying everything, but I got the impression that not as many people were into it. I can't understand why they wouldn't be. While I did think Counting Heartbeats played better at the fifty fifty show, this was a very excellent performance. I love all the songs and hope they continue with everything.

The Reason... meh. They were okay. I don't really like their general sound, sounds kind of a generic poppy rock with some screaming thing. Something tons of other bands are already doing. But a bunch of kids got really into it. I had fun with antics with leslie and her friends, and even aiden knight / jason.

After the show I was going to go to Denny's with everyone but was sketchy on getting back (I live very out of the way of downtown, aka colwood by langford), so I took advantage of a ride someone offered me home.

I probably shouldn't even mention that I took pictures, since they'll be on my site in a couple months or years because I am so slow and backed up. Ugnghhghg - Sun, 18 Sep 2005 3:45pm

I quite enjoyed playing this show. Since we played first their werent that many people there. We played pretty well, we really fucked up one song, but it wasnt really a big deal. The classic rock stuff is from our earlier songs, we've been moving away from that area but certainly still enjoy playing it. all in all, pretty good.

HRP...very tight drumming, very tight sound, good all in all performance. They were not terribly creative but put on a good show and obv. have their shit tight. God, their drummer played so precise, everything he does is perfect in synche.

COUNTHING HEATBEATS!!!!!!!!!! fucking amazing, I've seen them once before, and they are great. Probably my fav. local band right now, all in all good, last time I saw them, they werent screaming very much, i like the adition. What can

The Reason...poppier then I expected. Good sound, good performance, but I cant imagine listening to that at home. People were pretty into it, I dunno, I just didnt dig it to much, not my style. The screaming wasnt that intense either, I like an intense scream. - Sun, 18 Sep 2005 5:56pm

we went. left ten minutes later. Wasn't much energy in the crowd and in my opinion standing very still while at a show is completely boring.

but then again, im genre bias. - Sun, 18 Sep 2005 7:38pm

i didnt see much of the first band but i have seen them before at an old friends halloween party [her little brother is the guitar player] awhile back.

i was pretty impressed by the second band, they were crazy and they kept everyone listening form what i saw. they were here and there and everything was differnt and they put on a show.

counting heartbeats were better live than recorded in my opinion, it was my first time seeing them. i bought their ep and fell in love with song 3. haha.

the reason- i always to go the shows they play here. i know everyone says they hate the pop punk thing and i do to most of the time but i just cant not like the reason. theres something about them that i love. they were great as always.

so after all it was a good show, i wasent planning on going, but i was kidnapped from my house. im glad i went though. - Mon, 19 Sep 2005 9:51am

great all ages show; thanks to matt-boy the wonder bean for putting the show on and to dave for having a sweet beard.

the deadbeats rocked real hard, with some very cool changes and a very (in my opinion) pushing up daisies sound. great show, great playing with you lads (i'm sure the beats and the beats will play again)

hot rod pancakes. i really enjoyed hering you guys again, WAY back i heard you when i was playing with black tie. big-time improvement. more compliments to your drummer, he had some tasty ideas and played tambourine. yes.

the reason, two great performances that i've seen. really tight professional band, good singing.. etc.

i want to see more shows like this. but with more people. and more dancing.
i can't wait to play nanaimo! - Mon, 19 Sep 2005 1:59pm

I only saw the first two bands at this show
the first band was cool they played well from what I saw, and did a good job.
HRP reaffirmed my belief that they are one of the best bands in Victoria. They played super tight and did a great job
"your time is up" was so rad and I liked the jam song with Matt on keys. Nathan was great as well.
after that I left

cant wait til we can play together again. - Mon, 19 Sep 2005 3:38pm

show went well, everyone sounded good. The first band was pretty good from what i heard, sounded solid, that little guy slayed. I wasn't sure what to expect from counting heartbeats, but I was not disappointed. They had a lot of energy and orginality. I hope to see more of you guys, maybe another show? The reason were very professional, i saw their video on muchmusic like 2 days before the show so i was stoked. Not exactly my style, but entertaining to watch nonetheless. I also thought that fuckin bass amp was gonna fly off the stage. Great time, good sound, awesome pirate party.... - Tue, 20 Sep 2005 12:22am

+This was a a grand show indeed.
Much thanks to Mad Rad Matt and Bosevus for throwing the party.
And again, thank you Dave for the glory of your beard.
Last but surely not least -
thanks to all you lovelies that came out to the show and represented.+

=The Deadbeats= Very tight, especially for thier age.
Those dudes seriously have so much potential.
Keep on rocking and rolling guys cause you definitely got mad skills.
I would be very stoked to share the stage with you again, for sure.

=HRP= Sick sick sick (the good/radical kinda sick)!
I got so into their tunes. Brilliant song writing.
Great stage presence. Yeah fellas, let's fully play again soon.
We'll dress up like ninjas, you wear your pirate gear, and we'll have a brawl in the parking lot after the show and settle the pirates/ninjas argument once and for all.

=The Reason= Super pro sound and show. Very stand-up dudes.
Crazy (but cool) merch girl, haha.
I wish them all the best with the tour they have ahead of them.

If you dug our (Counting Heartbeats) stuff please dig this http://www.purevolume.com/countingheartbeats http://www.countingheartbeats.com http://www.myspace.com/countingheartbeats - add us!
Cause we like friends and want to be yours.
Why? Because we love you. What!?

- I didn't really dig HRP but apparently everyone else did so that's good.
- Couting Heartbeats were gooood and I was very impressed.
- I heart The Reason and the crazy drunk merch girl.

Dan Peters: You are not welcome at any Bosevus shows. This is what happens when you sneak in and lie when you're confronted. I know it's not the first time either.

Don't sneak into shows, guys. It makes me sad. I might have to break legs next time. - Thu, 22 Sep 2005 1:50am
