Fuck yeah, the outcome was wicked and the show as a whole kicked 10 kinds of ass!!!
GROSS MISCONDUCT by far played their best set my friends and I had ever witnessed, we honestly thought before that they had only good riffs for the most part but their levels and sound quality and everything fucking rocked last night!! Technical versitality, where can you go wrong?!?! If they keep that kind of playing up they will reach the levels of ATHEIST, CYNIC and DEATH without a doubt!!!
MEATLOCKER 7 was so fucking brutal!!!! Powered through Dizzy's sound system, I thought I was gonna cream my fucking pants it was so mauraudingly fucking HEAVY!!! Really fucking tight too, some parts also had a cold melodic doom feel to it which really added to the atomsphere of their music, it's good to see death metal bands that do something other than boring repetitive riffs.
SEASONS OF SORROW was very pleased with their set, being that I'm one of the band members I guess I will have to wait for responses on this site. The show as a whole went really well, Dizzy was almost full and a lot of people who were'nt exposed to true metal got a damn good taste!!
All hails to the followers of the true metal bloodline (the ones that showed up,) you guys fucking rock!!!

Fuck Yeah! The show went really well I'd have to say. Also, this time around the live recording sounds pretty good so we're gonna try to get 2 of the songs from that show up on our new site (audio and video). The new website http://www.grossmisconduct.net should launch on Jan 15th if everything goes as planned... The video/audio from this show wont be on it yet, but we'll try to get our shit together asap. Thanks to everyone who came out, Meatlocker for coming down from Vic, and Adrian for setting all this shit up! - Mon, 13 Jan 2003 12:53am
Booze Hound Don't you mean coming up? I thought Vic was down. - Mon, 13 Jan 2003 2:29pm
ML7Mike Well I had a good time, nice club, amazing waitress ( I watched her more then the bands ) good sound system, cool sound guy, and I like how they project the stage show onto the wall at about 12' x 10' or so ( huge anyhow ) and to top it off the soundguy sold us a CDrom with the video of the show on it afterwards.

Anyhow, Gross Misconduct kicked ass, second time I saw them, but the first time I only caught a portion of their set and it seemed that on this night they were far more tight, also I sat and watched the whole set.

Only caught portions of Seasons Of Sorrow, due to the club bouncing our place to stay, I had to go outside and track him down. Once I finally did ( he was stumbling around the hood ) he came back to the club entrance and we were off to the side discussing the plan, and his address, when the asshole bouncer decided to radio the cops on us to put the guy in the drunk tank. So to make along story short, I spent the first half of SOS set outside trying to deal with that situation as we needed the guys place to stay and if he was in the Drunktank we'd be driving home drunk ourselves. That bouncer was a real dickhead. The rest of the staff were really cool though, for the record.

Definately a decent band club, we'll play there again Im sure if they keep it going. - Mon, 13 Jan 2003 2:45pm

ML7Mike Oh, I forgot to add, that SOS put on a really good set ( what I saw of it ) , some quite Maidenesque riffage and diverse vocal stylings.. I think they'd do well to add another guitarist as their existing guy does alot of leads and it would help carry them alot better with the added thickness. Adrians vocals were interesting, crossing between a COF style and deep european powermetal. Very cool that he managed and organized the show well, and played in the headlining band. Decent turnout for Nanaimo too I hear. - Mon, 13 Jan 2003 2:53pm
SOS Jesse I really enjoyed the show, great performances from all the bands. It's good to see a well orchestrated metal show and I'm happy we organized it. Just a comment about the suggestion that we should get another guitarist: it's never going to happen. Some people who saw us when we did have another guitar say they like us more now, some say they think we should get another rythym guitarist. Personally, and I speak for the whole band here, I absoloutley LOVE being the only guitarist. Everything sounds so much clearer and our bassist, Julian, was forced to kick his playing up a notch because of it. I also upgraded many of the solos. We're getting a classical piano to fill the rythym gap and a female opera singer to add a whole new dimension. It's gonna be killer. - Tue, 14 Jan 2003 4:37pm
cc nice - Wed, 15 Jan 2003 11:30am
ML7Mike SOSJesse, yah man I hear ya.. but as a casual observer.. seeing a guitarist do alot of leads is cool, but without a thick rythm behind it sometimes it is just too thin. Oh well, Eddie and Yngwie manage! - Wed, 15 Jan 2003 1:16pm

Oh yeah, fuck yeah, Livevic whats up? Yes indeed the show was a success, lots of peeps in attendance to see metal done the way it should be. I hope Chuck isn't rolling in his grave for having our band's name mentioned in the same breath as his, but regardless, thanks alot for the praise Adrian, thats awesome. Kinda funny that no one from Nanaimo has actually posted about this show, and the only ones who have were the muscicians who played that night. In conclusion, Nanaimo sucks, although Dizzy's and Brent the soundman do not. - Wed, 15 Jan 2003 2:00pm

Probably 150 through the door (my inebriated estimate). Maybe a few more or less. People were bar hopping all night as there are four bars within two blocks of each other. Nanaimo ain't that bad. For a smaller town the turnout was ok.
The crowd was sure relaxed though! How do all ages shows fare in Ninimo? - Wed, 15 Jan 2003 6:50pm

Hahaha, Well... with all ages shows its generally one extreme or the other. For instance the last all ages show we played was awesome it was at the scout hut (small all wood building, makes it seem like there's more people than there is, although alot of people did show up) with 4 other bands. Lotsa punkrock kids, I think we scared em. but the all ager before that there was maybe at most 40 people there all night, and alot left before the end of the show. The Scout Hut is defintely an awesome place to put on shows though, and its super cheap to rent. - Wed, 15 Jan 2003 7:22pm

Good to hear about the turn out. 150 is great. We play at the Scout Hut on Feb 1st with Though As Nails, Until We Have Faces, Handicap Parking, and The O.k Corral. Should be a good show, hopefully a great turnout! - Thu, 16 Jan 2003 12:33am

Okay...time for Nanaimo to represent...The show was awesome!! Groos Misconduct was great! I was a little off on them after the Halloween show but this show...WOW They were fuckin great!! Meatlocker 7 was heavy personified! And SOS...well, what can I say... They kicked ass!! Here it is 4 days or so later and my balls still hurt from the sound. It was a fuckin great show and I'd like to thank everyone who came out (and coughed up the 5 bones to get in) Hopefully we can put on more of this type of event soon. The friday night however...let's not go into that ....fuck it...let's go into it...who the hell brought the nickelback clones in? For their own type of music it was ok, but not for a metal show. The best part of Friday was Rob and Morley of ex-Nibriu....MEETTTAALLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Thu, 16 Jan 2003 4:23am
SOS Jesse Yeah friday the 10th was bullshit. We couldn't get enough bands together for a two day event. We asked Brent(soundguy/promoter) if we could just do one day but he insisted we do both. He told us he'd find bands and well, let's just say he has absoloutley no concept of how to put a metal show together. Shifted and Feird? That was one of the poorest show-related decisions I have ever seen and there was nothing we could do about it. Sorry to any metalheads that came to see us that night as we didn't even get a chance to play but I hope saturday made up for it. SOS update: our drummer just underwent surgery this morning for a brutal hernia (it's his third time getting operated on for the same thing!). We are using this downtime to get our opera singer and piano player up to snuff. Our website should be up in a week or two here so I'll keep everyone updated. It looks pretty sweet. - Thu, 16 Jan 2003 3:09pm

listen to you blaming the shitty show on the sound guy. yeah, the sound guy. the sound was fine. the problem was the fact that YOU organized a show that flopped. instead of shifting the blame try learning from your mistakes. come on...be the big kid. - Fri, 17 Jan 2003 4:01pm
Coffee I think the point made was that it was advertised as a 2 day metal event. Instead night one became a night of alt rock with one metal band. Unfortunately one of the opening bands were very unprofessional, taking an hour and half to set up their gear and do their set, when they were alotted about 40 minutes ( not exactly sure on the time.. ) As a result, Seasons Of Sorrow had to cancel their headlining set. This shows great ineptitude on promoter and band. Anyhow, I hear all this 4th hand so... - Fri, 17 Jan 2003 4:15pm

Oh my, oh my, I guess I have to spill out the 'Official Press Statement' at this point. We were asked to do a 2 day event, the 2nd of which went very well.
I will state on my own behalf that the failure of the 1st show was partially our fault because 4 bands were scheduled; 2 of which were us and EX-NIBIRIU. We did let EX-NIBIRIU (who made the whole 1st night worthwhile, might I add) open, so for that we are responsible, otherwise it would have been SHIFTED, FEIRD and SEASONS OF SORROW and you would not have been robbed of our epic progressive metal with classical influences.
I would like to also state that we had to refund a lot of friends who waited through the set just to see us play; the ones we didn't refund we let in for free the following evening.
I would also like to state the the show that WE ALONE organized the 2nd show (GROSS MISCONDUCT, MEATLOCKER7, SEASONS OF SORROW) and it took off incredibly well; all the bands were good and we all received great compliments off stage and on-line...and whattaya know, it was the show that WE ALONE organized.
So, with all due regards Mr. PENIS, I will never wrap my lips around yours for your 'approval' of becoming a 'man' who's willing to take the blame. I state the previous for our loyal fans only. The fact that our responsibility for the 1st botched show only exists in the fact that WE AGREED TO IT.
But, if you're interested, I could hook you up with a really wicked band called OVERSOUL.... - Fri, 17 Jan 2003 8:33pm

SOS Jesse The soudguy was also the promoter and the sound was amazing! Brent is the best soundguy I have ever worked with and I will never complain about his ability as it is exceptional. However, as a promoter he has a thing or two to learn. - Sat, 18 Jan 2003 3:17pm
curious -what's his name? does he work as a sound guy at Ingy's? - Sun, 19 Jan 2003 10:06pm
Hicksville Heman No at Dizzys in Nanaimo.. he is waaay better then the Ingy guy. Better attitude too. - Mon, 20 Jan 2003 1:26am
