| Mr. Hell User Info... | Only $6 !!!!! You heard me right. Victoria's own heavy hitters, F.O.B will be unveiling their new disc, 'The Beckoning' which is sure to be excellent! FACES OF BLACK will be headlining this show. http://www.facesofblack.tk/ Vancouver's stoner scholars, HEZZAKYA take the stage second and promise to rattle your innards with huge sound and massive riffing. They have a video for their song 'Spirit Gun' from their latest release, 'Drug Metal'. It can be viewed at their website. http://www.hezzakya.com/ But first, before these two great bands will be the debut of RUN LIKE HELL featuring ex-members and current members of bands such as Conviction, Meatlocker Seven and Buddlust. Straight-up heavy rock with groove for miles and aggression to spare. Reminiscient of many, including hints of Sabbath, Prong, COC, early Metallica and QOTSA. No website available yet...coming soon. First band hits the stage around 10:15pm. I hear there will be a new stage, sound system and lights for this event? Should be very interesting. This show takes place soon after and across the street from the last night of the Great Canadian Beer Festival, so instead of going home after the big piss-up and moping around, come to Logan's and rock out with your...well, actually, keep that in your pants. - Tue, 30 Aug 2005 3:37pm | ||

| mikey User Info... | Killer show!! Run Like Hell kicked the shit out of me with their monster riffage. They are awesome and can only get better, I cant wait for their next show. Hezzakya were ok, I guess. They have talent but they are pretty derivative, nothing special. I think RLH spoiled the endless heavy riff styles for me because normally I would like this kind of shit. Faces of Black are very good, loud, tight. Their guitar should be louder, and solo more, because he shreds. And they had the best pipes last night, easy. | Gabri~hell User Info... | I wonder if they managed to put the roof back on Logan's last night... That was a cathartic and heavy night of pure excellence! Do yourselves a favour and DO NOT miss any of these bands the next time you see posters up with their names! Each band was totally unique, satisfying and clever. I am still grinning! Run Like Hell, which I had a sneaking notion would kick some ass from the previews I have had, were brilliantly thick, menacingly loud, and crushingly vicious in their attack. Grabbed you by the throat and throttled you relentlessly with monster songs that get right into your bloodstream. Byron keeps ridiculously busy behind the kit, MisterHell(o!) writes the grooviest, beefy basslines, and Curt is runnin' like hell with that voice of his! Faces of Black were heavy and delicious, and Christine was lovely as the Jawa! I missed hearing "Gluten," but the talented trio made up for that with an array of nosebleed-inducing songs from their new CD. Go buy it. Hezzakya went on like firebombs, and were entertaining to see live. There were some serious wailing guitars on that stage, and I have some amazing photos to prove it. Which I will post another time. I am still recovering from all the fresh little monkeys who had their fucking lobster claws out last night! | Mr. Hell User Info... | Some kind words are spoken about the show! I thank you all, especially Ms. Gabri~hell who always has a way with words and has been uber-supportive of Run Like Hell from the day I joined! Thanks to Christine for setting this up and being the glue holding it together! F.O.B: Tight and loud! Solid performance by all. The new disc sounds great! The title track is expecially impressive. Hezzakya: Do stoner rock as it should be...thick, plodding and heavy! Vocals cut out during Spirit Gun, which was a shame and their set seemed to get cut short. Anyone know why? Nice guys and professional all the way. Us: Had fun up there!! Interesting to see how the songs translated live and some seemed to slay. We will be working on more tunes and getting vocals done in time for the next show {whenever that may be}. I am going to have a go at a few of those songs as well. | CC User Info... | hey hey.... its Curt from Run Like Hell here i dont think we could have hoped for a better first gig! believe me ive had my fair share of stage time in front 5-10 people but when i hit the first chords and turned around it was prety damn cool to see the place packed we had great fun and cant wait to play again with more lyrics and new tunes! biggest thanks to Faces Of Black for asking us to be part of this and i really enjoyed your set of tunes......the new ones are killer and you guys just sound better everytime Christine ....i was blown away by how well you sang Norm .....your choice of notes give me that little spine chill just like that of some players we used to listen to Adam.....if we ever come to a point where neither of us have a band then we must finally jam! i dig yer style man as for Hezzakya they were good in many ways but i hope they expand thier style break out of the stoner rock cliche a bit the guys in the band were real nice but one should not dis the general crowd they play to no? as for us it had been more than 4 years since id been on a stage so i was happy to do this thanks to all friends and strangers for all the nice feed back and if anyone has suggestions as to what bands theyd like to see us gig with then let us know big thanks to logans and thanks for the pix hellen! | Mr. Hell User Info... | You are seeing correctly! It is still the same...no renos yet. I found out the secret to having decent sound in there, though. Makes sure everyone in your band has really good gear that is tuned into great tone and then crank it up pretty damn loud, yet evenly amongst yourselves.
