Thats the next one I'm seriously stoked about. The Whiskey Jacks were the bluegrass band I saw at the WB House, right? They'll be great at the Marine Club.

And Grass City's got Jesse drumming, and Goatsblood guys. I kinda forget who all else, but yes, I'm there. - Wed, 13 Jul 2005 5:01pm

its honestly one of those shows where people remind themselves for ever after how much they suck if they miss it.
there, I let the cat outta the bag. And just try and tell me I'm wrong!

Lownote, do you know if that was Mike handing me a flyer last wknd? I didn't recognize him at the time and thought it might have been you.. but I was too preoccupied with the majesty of ZUCKUSS to care!! - Wed, 20 Jul 2005 12:04am

If half the people who said they'd be coming out, show up, I'll be pretty happy. Of course, all I really need are the bands to show up!! YAY!

I have to hit 2 shows before I get there.. does anyone know what exactly I'm going to at 8pm tonight at a coffee shop at columbia & hastings? Someone told me about it last night and I remember thinking the bands are cool and saying I'd be there, but I can't remember who it was now and its not listed.. ulp. alzheimer's hello. - Sat, 23 Jul 2005 1:04pm

I was pretty burnt out by the time I got there, but holy crap, it was good seeing so many people out! I haven't seen some of them in quite a while - Daddy Leblanc for one! DUHAHAHA - haha, he cracks me up. good hair jay.

The bluegrass band was pretty cool, but I think sound was a problem all night. I've gotta see them again when I've got a bit more steam. People up front were into it. I did last time I saw them.

Grass City, wow, that was some kind of all out display they put on. I was not ready for that. I think I offended a couple of them after by saying they all seemed totally chilled out, but what I meant was, that they were relaxed and really honestly digging it. Just all out playing without the brutal attack and all out offense (or weightiness?) I normally see some of those guys aiming at in other projects. They all seemed tripped out and happy and the crowd was into it.. "chilled out" isn't a bad thing!

And Lownote - sound was definately a problem with them, so that was a little frustrating for everyone. I think what else was difficult (for the band) to deal with was that a lot of the crowd left thinking the show had ended (you can't easily go from 7 people doing all out bluesy LOUD stoner stuff to a quieter 4 piece with keys & violin easily). Especially not in a room like that.
Anyway, I must say that bands have to learn to take it in stride when this kind of thing happens and enjoy themselves and play hard for each other and the few TOTAL FANS that remain. Cuz there were people up front totally digging what they were doing and not letting anything outside the band get them down. I'll be looking out for their next show when I have more energy and I can hear them better. Her violin work is near always exquisite and I was kinda fascinated by the bass too.
Sorry I ran away from everyone so fast and didn't stick around to talk, but I was beyond tired. - Tue, 26 Jul 2005 3:57pm
