_Griphin_ User Info... | Damnit, I missed this. Sigh, did anyone go?!? BTW: It's spelled Micky Christ, unless it's a different band (I hope not). And where is The Jungle? - Wed, 6 Jul 2005 8:03pm
The Wolf User Info... | The Jungle is next to Monty's (Same Building)... Previously known as "Julie's" back in the day... - Fri, 8 Jul 2005 7:33pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | Oh? I wonder when the owner started getting live bands there, when I talked to him last year they weren't planning on getting any bands in. - Fri, 8 Jul 2005 9:23pm
AdoptaPirate User Info... | well the jungle's gonna be having a battle of the bands on the 13th aswel - Fri, 8 Jul 2005 9:39pm
tommy User Info... | bad sound.i came to see micky christ but they didnt show.the guy from the means was pretty crazy.they didnt come out till 11:00 and were dunk and telling the crowd to shut the fuck up.after the show they were fighting back stage.cheap entertainment. - Sat, 9 Jul 2005 7:18am
_Griphin_ User Info... | Micky Christ didn't show? Good thing I didn't go. The Means fighting back and telling the crowd to STFU? Now that is not how you do a gig. - Tue, 12 Jul 2005 7:18pm
jay brown User Info... | apparently the last one they had they didnt even judge it by crowd response at all, they pulled three people out of the audience and asked them who they liked best. two said one band so that band won, that is quite possibly the lamest thing I have ever heard in my life. I would jam forks in my eyeballs before I would subject myself to that. They didnt even have a proper soundman, both shows I heard about happening there people I know from the bands were working the board getting the sound right, that is just fucking weak. - Tue, 12 Jul 2005 8:53pm
DjTony User Info... | there was miscommunication with micky christ (yeah, i spelled it wrong, lol), they are actually unable to make it for this event due to other commitments. as for judging, the night you are referring to was a really strange night and the MC messed up. we have a new sound guy starting july 20th, so no worries there and the judging has been fixed by suing ballots. everyone now gets a ballot when they come in, where they can give input on each bands performance. the problem was the early bands friends leaving after their sets therefore leaving a smaller crowd for the bands to follow...and by originally judging it by applause only, it left a disadvantage for some. the new ballot system fixes this problem and makes it fair for all. customers leave their ballot at the bar before they leave and we tally them at the end of the night and anounce the winner. it is true that the more friends a band brings the better they will do, the more fans you have the better you do ;) the finals will be judged in 2 ways, through audience participation and by those involved with the actual recording process. at the end of the day, we are seeking a band who has both a regular fan base and the level of talent to put out a nice tight recording to solicit the labels with. for those who have labels already, this can be a great opportunity to hammer out a new single etc.. in addition to the contest however, we are also looking for host bands and bands to play ocasionally (weekly/monthly or whatever). ::cheers:: - Thu, 14 Jul 2005 6:16pm
maniac User Info... | we played at the Jungle and all I have to say is that is was definately a big mess or "shit show" if you will...Glad to hear they are getting a real soundman but it's a bit too late, no? The first rounds of bands that played did not get to benefit from the ballot system or better sound quality. Bands Beware!!! It's a venue but it's not a very good one. - Fri, 15 Jul 2005 8:22am
