SweetGrass User Info... | Did anyone else take in this show on sunday night in Market Square? This was an algerian/parisian singer from France eputaed as being quite an amzing fusion of east and funk. I have to say the supporting band was amazing, many rhythms and sounds all tightly woven, incredible percussion, but the lead dude was wasted! Barely able to stand... throwing up between songs, once the keyboard player took over vocals while rachio upchucked... At one point he fell backwards laying on his back singing with a hard on visible in his leather pants...eeewwwhhh!!!!!!!!! My fave moment though was when he put his mic down on the ground danced drunkenly and then moved up to the mic stand prepared to sing, took stand in hand and realized the mic wasn't in it. Don't get me wrong, very entertaining evening but I wonder how amazing the show would have been if he was a little bit more functional! Many kudos to the band though. They kept everything moving, even when they started a song in one key and rachio changed it when he started and they had to scramble to catch up. $19.00 a ticket though?????? A little steep for drunk dude! Any one else?????? S.G. - Wed, 6 Jul 2005 8:15am

jenko User Info... | I was looking forward to the show, as 2 friends drove from Edmitten for this one! They met Rachid before the show, and he was kind of bummed that the gig was so tiny--there's a DVD of him playing to like 70 thousand people in a soccer stadium in Europe! That said, the drunk/wasted thing kind of worked in his favor, in a Keith Richards kind of way... His band was incredible, I especially like the percussionist and the oud player. Great Rock the Casbah cover, too. - Wed, 6 Jul 2005 12:34pm
