What a show!

Nice to know the Kincaide boys are back in town rockin’ it again!

I missed Glory nights. Damn.
Gonna see em at Fernwood for sure.

Theset was up next.
The sound and timing was all sweet, but I prefer to see these guys on a big stage so they can rock out. Are they coming out with a demo soon?

Kincaide!
Wow.
Watched them just before they left to tour, at Diego’s and with the no moshing rule, it cramped everyone’s style so much, but now everyone had a chance to move and did they! Fifty shows later, this fine tuned machine blasted out on stage. Well done boys.

Wasn’t too down with the agro-rookie moshers. Pushing people in the spine kinda fucks people up; I know it did to me. Gonna have to watch that in the future…. - Sat, 2 Jul 2005 1:13am

Thanks for the kind words Matteus :) We're(theset) releasing a 12 song album within the next few months(all recorded just needs final touches, mastering, pressing etc.). Kincaide showed off their new intense stage presence, I've never seen them rock out that hard on stage, so awesome. Tour definately made that band even better, well done lads. Glory Nights were damn good, some great guitar hooks with a solid rhythm section and an awesome singer. The night was a drunkfest. goodtimes. - Sat, 2 Jul 2005 1:39am

Glory Nights were some good old fashioned sceamo. Sounded tight.

Theset, as always good. The singer needs to lay off the effects, but sounded awesome. Look forward to the LP.

Kincaide, I was pretty drunk by this point but when the lights came on at whatever time it was, a tear came to my eye. Solid and energetic.

The bar was packed. Drinking could have been cheaper (shakes fist at over zealous Steamers pricing), wallet hurt after a good night out with some great bands on CANADA DAY woo-hoo! - Sun, 3 Jul 2005 1:07pm

i dunno if i'd call Glory Nights old fashioned screamo. that name is reserved for bands like Love Lost But Not Forgotten or Saetia. but their singer had a pretty good range on his voice. the music was so-so

theset was pretty decent. i like when bands play more raw during their set instead of trying to sound gay and slick with their rockstar gear. so i was pretty happy with my little love muffins.

Kincaide are back and on the attack. i think this is the first bar show with a strange ass moshpit going on that i've ever seen. it looked just odd to me for some reason. anywho, they played nicely. - Sun, 3 Jul 2005 4:17pm

I was totally impressed with Glory Nights. Definitely a good band to kick off the night. Great energy on stage. And the singer had not only good range but also good control of his voice.

theset: awesome as always... but martins pants could've been a little tighter... I was a little disappointed. These guys know how to put on a good show.

Unfortunately I missed Kincaide. The exhaustion of the day was taking over and I had to work at 9am. I hear it was pretty awesome seeing them after they got back from tour. I'll totally check out the next one. - Mon, 4 Jul 2005 3:56am

I'm sorry, I saw the hair styles, tight pants, white belts, vintage Ts, vintage mic cradled in hand, Jumping on stage, heard the screamy and melodies and just assumed Glory Nights were Story of the Year. My bad.

I liked it, just not all that original. - Mon, 4 Jul 2005 9:23am

OK... man I must really be on crack.

Glory Nights are what? From what I understand of the whole screamo genre... Glory Nights fit it to a t... look, sound, merch, EVERYTHING about them. Now I am sure theset knows more about this than me, so please correct me.

Is there a better more kvlt adjective that I was not memo'd about to describe todays upcoming emotional rockers? I am still living in 2003 and like my Thursday records :-) - Mon, 4 Jul 2005 2:45pm

my belief is if it's sad it's "emo" but if it's sad and they're screaming a lot it's "screamo". - Mon, 4 Jul 2005 10:21pm

ahhhh now I get it. Just sort of pop punkish.

personally... to me emo is very mellow earnest. Does not have the same negative connotation people attach to it here.

screamo to me... is an aggressive emotional rock, or what we used to call Ponk is my day (Pop-Punk).

all this BS and un-hard-core genre labelling aside, the point was, I enjoyed the show, Glory Nights were tight. - Tue, 5 Jul 2005 3:31pm
