Tambo User Info... | Heart Carried Heavy - I liked them, but they didn't really fit the bill. If they played at a different kind of show, I'd probably dig them alot more. It was kind of like a screemo-ish style, so if it was at a show more oriented to that genre, I think it would come off better. Friday Night Murder - The Terror cover was awesome. They played a solid set, I like the new line up, and it's always nice to see a bassist playing with his fingers instead of a pick. Murdered Without a Trace - These guys brought the mosh. It was soo awesome, really moshy riffs and brutal vocals, made everyone go nuts and throwdown all over the place. I heard they're coming back in hopefully July, so I'm going to be there. Nice guys to boot. Compton - They were pretty heavy, not extremely moshy, but I really liked it. They were awesome guys and were impressed with my french skills, hah. If they ever come back, I'll check them out too. It was also cool talking to them comparing the Victoria scene to the Montreal scene. War By Other Means - Oh my goodness... So great. They weren't that tight, but that's understandable because they haven't been back together jamming for very long. Played all the old favorites, a couple covers, and everyone went absolutely nuts. Those were some crazy pileons for the gang vocals, I think half the time the crowd was singing for Brian. I hope they play some more shows this summer, and Brian said that was the plan, so I'm excited. All in all, it was an awesome show. There was a bit of drama with fighting and drunk kids and such. But the music outweighed it all. There were alot of awesome people there and I had tons of fun. Thanks to Leslie and Brian for putting on the show. Catch you cats on the flip side. - Sun, 29 May 2005 7:13am
Nat User Info... | The bands were great but i really don't get that run around in a circle like were playing duck goose thing. And the whole watch me do karate and jump five feet thing was weird as hell but it made me laugh all night. - Sun, 29 May 2005 7:42am

Nat User Info... | ive been to a hell of a lot of shows, but ive never seen anything like it. I wasnt critisizing it, i thought it was really interesting to watch. And by the way, i hardly think laughing is causing trouble. Anyone would laugh at some guy throwing his legs above his head and stomping like an ape. That being said-the bands really kicked some ass, i just thought it strange that the music was so hard yet there was no mosh. - Sun, 29 May 2005 8:39am
D ROC User Info... | hunter that was totally your twin brother - Sun, 29 May 2005 8:47am
AngryPat User Info... | I thought the music was great, the first band was ok but the last few were good, I had never been to a hardcore show and handnt been to a show in ages, I saw people that I have seen at the punk and metal shows, but they were acting all gay, trying to start shit cuz we were moshing, Oh no you dumbed into me you big mean jerk!, guy cry to your momy, and then there was the guy i'm told is from AWT who was the bigest asshole of the night, slaming a kid thats like 5 years younger then him into a wall for getting shoved into him then acting like a big tough guy. That show was the worst I have ever been to for the people there, People mosh you dont want to get out of the way. - Sun, 29 May 2005 8:48am
Tambo User Info... | Nat > That wasn't supposed to be mean, haha, everyone laughs at us, I really don't care. I'm glad you enjoyed the show though :). Moshers > You guys have to realize, this is a different scene than metal or even punk. The kids fighting the air IS moshing in this scene, I know it seems weird, but to us, running into each other for no reason seems weird. I don't want to speak for the scene, because obviously I'm just some kid, but this is how I see it. - Sun, 29 May 2005 8:54am
AngryPat User Info... | Tambo You just gotta live with it man, we like to mosh and you can mosh to that music, so there will be mushing, dont like it? move away, were not there to hurt people, though people do get hurt, Show some talorence for us and we will show some for you, but if your gunna bitch cuz somone got knocked into you then go home and watch the care bears with you mom. - Sun, 29 May 2005 9:02am
Nat User Info... | i was trying not to critisize it last night, because for all i know you guys look at moshers and think its weird as hell. its cool theres varieties because in the end, everyones there for the music. - Sun, 29 May 2005 9:02am

hunterxACPC User Info... | DAX: I swear mike is not my twin MOSHING KIDS: dont get in the way at hardcore shows... you dont see us two stepping at punk and metal shows - Sun, 29 May 2005 10:11am
Trican User Info... | i dunno.. my opinion on this is weird a) because i don't really particularly like hardcore and b) because everyone hates me but whatever.. okay... tambo is right.. it's a different scene.. at hardcore shows people do crazy dances and jump around and fight ninjas.. despite how retarted it looks.. it's the same with a metal show... people beat the fuck out of each other at slayer shows.. it's fucked up.. but it's a totally different scene... your not gonna see some fag with a purple mohawk fuck up some kid up at a Hoochy Girls show (i'm sorry for bringing them up.. i should have left them burried and dead) it would never fly... that's why if some 6'3 240 pound man goes into a pit at a hardcore show and is purposely tring to fuck kids up who are like... 5'10 150 pounds.. some people are going to be angry....so this just in... FUCK OFF!!! - Sun, 29 May 2005 10:27am
darcy User Info... | The show was off the hizzy! The first band did seem a little out of place, but I still dug 'em. All the bands after that played fantastically well. Compton slayed my freakin' heart, and WBOM brought it back. Cheers to everyone who helped put it on. So dancing discussion. I think people should dance however they want to. Some people like to slam into eachother, some like to fight invisible space-pirate-zombie ninjas, and some do whatever they like to call dancing. - Sun, 29 May 2005 10:29am
leslie. User Info... | everyone should shut up about how people dance, it's not even a big deal. the vancover boys bought it. so did the locals. It doesn't matter how they were doing it. now everyone should grow up, and stop fighting. - Sun, 29 May 2005 10:33am
AngryPat User Info... | hunterxACPC A show is a show, people are gunna have fun, be it moshing out danceing like your a retard its gunna happen, But stay out of our way or we'll knock you down and you might get hurt, and then we dont want to see you cry. And your right you dont see anyone doing the gay little two step at Punk or metal shows cuz you'd get floored - Sun, 29 May 2005 10:36am

Eazy A User Info... | When people are ridiculously bumping into each other, fighting invisible ninjas (these are the folks who DONT do drugs???), or flinging long hippie hair around in windmills, they are all going to look fuckin stupid to someone. I may be totally off here but IMHO I always figured you did what you did on the floor to have fun and get into the music and it didnt matter what others thought. What happend to respect and tolerance for others differences? Stereotyping whole groups of people based on a handful of morons? YIKES! Personally I like to stand and WATCH a band that I really like. Hmmmmmm looks like I dont fit in and shouldnt bother paying my $7 to support the scene until I figure out what dance moves are acceptable. - Sun, 29 May 2005 11:49am
Tambo User Info... | ^ I was about to say the same thing. Everyone looks stupid to someone, in fact, I was thinking about it, and anyone who expresses their enjoyment of the music at a show, actually looks like an idiot, no matter what they're doing. But they're having fun. My point wasn't about who looks dumb, someone just brought up the fact that the hardcore kids do, so I gave a point that the moshers do too. It's just that it gets annoying when you're trying to have a good time, get into the music in your own way, and you keep on getting shoved and ran into. - Sun, 29 May 2005 12:06pm
Eazy A User Info... | Well said. That is more lack of respect (or perhaps lack of understanding of something different). Moshers next time you go to a hardcore show give thier way a try. You might even like it. If not then respect it. Oh and for the record when i stand around watching a band I always look VERY cool.......did I mention that I look very cool when I.....oh nevermind.... - Sun, 29 May 2005 12:25pm
Air_Jordan User Info... | You know there just might really be invisible mutant zombie ninjas that are only drawn to hardcore music and we have these wonderful kids to thank for fending them all off and protecting us. I welcome them to any show. Have fun and forget what anyone thinks. My first gig, I was 14 and stood in front of the stage and banged my head -- yes I'm so old that banging your head was once cool--so much that I couldn't move my head for a week. I actually gave myself whiplash. I must have looked like I was trying to shake off a monkey humping my eyebrow, but nobody said anything and I had a blast...let's give everyone the same courtesy. - Sun, 29 May 2005 12:30pm
Nik Olaz User Info... | i hate scenes. why cant we all just listen to music? - Sun, 29 May 2005 12:51pm
jay brown User Info... | Yup I am in fact the drummer for A.W.T. as a matter of fact if you ever have anything to say to me Pat. As for me throwing that guy into the wall, you betcha if you idiots are going to stand there and deliberatley throw people around as hard as you can and think thats cool and make fun of all the kids at the show for hardcore dancing then you gotta know sooner or later someone is going to push back and they arent going to be nice about it. I wasnt even involved at all until a few of the younger guys came outside and got me because you guys were starting shit. That was their words to me, come inside right now these guys are hitting people and choking them out. Then I went inside and watched you guys for about ten minutes and sure enough you were being the typical monkeyhead idiots that think that they have to prove to everyone around them they are the toughest guys on the block. In case you didnt notice I was the first guy to push back but before I even had a chance to say anything about a million other people were there telling you what idiots you were. If you want to slamdance you should probably go see a show that would go over at. Hey I slamdance at shows too, but for starters I dont just throw people around and slam into them as hard as I can like an idiot. Plus if I go to another show I dont make fun of the other 99% of the people at the show if i dont necessarily like what they are doing. There is a time and a place for everything and at a predominately straightedge hardcore show acting like that is neither the time or the place...... and Nick your right scenes suck. - Sun, 29 May 2005 1:00pm

Fenton User Info... | yeah jay. thanks to brain and leslie for the sweet show. I am a morron no hard feelings? - Sun, 29 May 2005 1:26pm
AngryPat User Info... | Well I dont think I will go to a hardcore show again, I liked the music and i have nothing againced straghtedge kids, I hardly drink myself and I drove to the show so I didnt have even a sip, But personaly when I bumped into anyone and I think I bumped into you Jay and each time I looked over and tryed to give the apression that things were cool and sorry you got cought in the crossfire, but I didnt think it was cool slaming the kid into the wall or acting like an ass when I was trying to talk to you, I didnt even know who you were or would I have cared cuz people are people if your in a band or not, and as one of the moshers I did try and keep away from the hardcore kids and realy only one of the moshish group went up around them cuz kenny tryed to start shit with him and he was drunk. But yeah I donno I have seen more tolorence for moshing at ska shows and I remember some of the faces at the show that go to punk shows and they were acting like moshing was stupid, So it was the wrong scene but who cares, we were trying to have a good time as you the hardcore kids. I'm gunna say this that people were trying to start shit on both side, but it shouldnt have been that way. - Sun, 29 May 2005 1:37pm

xDannx User Info... | Everyone seems to have gotten a bit off topic. I personally think, talk about the positives on the internet, and leave the arguing for real life, where you can actually do something about it. The show... Heart Carried Heavy - They were fucking awesome. They made my night, I was absolutely stoked to see them back and playing again, and I hope they get some more shows soon, and I hope we get a chance to play with them. Friday Night Murder - Sweet. Not much else needs to be said, I was super impressed this time, their set was super tight, and I thought they really got things going. Murdered Without a Trace - Nice kids, tight band. Not superbly unique, but not much is now a days. Either way, exactly what the kids seemed to have needed. I probably had the most fun during their set. Great dancing band. Compton - Damn fine set as well, I was a bit choked the vocals were so quiet, but I hope they come back soon. War By Other Means - Good to have them back, although I have one serious complaint. I really wish they would have played even like one song about keeping it real. I mean, thats what hardcore is all about, and I don't really think they got that point across. Thanks Leslie and Brian, and whoever else put this on. Rad. - Sun, 29 May 2005 2:11pm
MURDALIZER User Info... | Group hug everybody, come on, now! Thank you very much to Brian and Leslie for putting on a great show. I't doesn't matter what you look like, how you dance, or what shoes you wear, what's important is that we support our scene and respect each other. Having said that, if we see people(s) intentionally trying to hurt someone, or dammaging property it is our responsibility to police ourselves. The alternative is that we don't have a scene, and don't have all ages shows to go to. - Sun, 29 May 2005 2:53pm

Brian VIHC User Info... | Yeah the show went well, the out of town bands got paid, though I heard that Compton had their previous 5 shows (!) fall through on them. I won't bother commenting on mosh drama. That imbecile drunk kid Nick has gone too far this time. He tried to start a fight with me, which I can deal with, knowing that he is just a moron, and that doesn't really bother me. However after I explained to him why I don't want him at my shows - his damage caused at the last James Bay show - he INTENTIONALLY tried to do damage to the Big Fernwood. And in his ineptitude, he ended up kicking ineffectually at the PRE-SCHOOL building out back. No one has a "right" to come to shows. They are not public, tax-funded events. They are private rentals that the renters allow whoever they want into. The renters have the right to bar or kick out anyone they feel like, and when someone is kicked out they should have the good sense not to come back - repeatedly - attempting to provoke people. If someone doesn't have that good sense, whatever befalls them is of their own making. Make of that what you will, but this won't happen again. - Sun, 29 May 2005 6:24pm

Eazy A User Info... | That Goluza character still shows up with all his trouble too......what can ya do.... - Sun, 29 May 2005 6:56pm
Tyler User Info... | Yeah I think this dancing talk is a little off topic. The show was well-organized and lots of people came who don't normally come to hardcore shows. I like that because it exposes more people to the scene and pays for the venue. Of course the ways are going to seem strange to outsiders. Personally, I don't like slam dancing in most cases. If they want to do it, that's fine by me as long as it doesn't interfere with the hardcore dancing or result in things such as the fact that some stupid kid rammed into me full force and knocked my jaw. It seems all these show review threads are turning into drama and it's not really needed. My views are just that you should be positive and not make fun of the kids who are into the music and hardcore dancing, and you shouldn't cause trouble by ramming into people, disrupting things, and causing trouble. Heart Carried Heavy - I really liked this band. I was very suprised and impressed with the depth of the songs and the really tight sound they had for their genre. Sure they were a little out of place but not a lot. I would go to another show of theirs, I'd like to hear some recordings. Friday Night Murder - They're growing on me a little? I had fun during their set. Murdered Without A Trace - I loved this band. I was really really pleasantly suprised with how much I liked them. They were really rad kids too. More shows. Hunter, get on the job of getting them back. Compton - I like the whole dirty hardcore approach, it's not my personal favourite style but it was very enjoyable. I'm glad these guys came out and I enjoyed the set very much. War By Other Means - Hahaha oh the energy was crazy. Everyone knew the gang vocals and the pileons were all over the place. Super fun ending to a super fun night. I loved all the kids who came out. Thanks so much to Leslie and Brian. - Sun, 29 May 2005 7:02pm
