pancakes User Info... | all the bands did an excellent job and played really well, but i have to say that diegos is one of the worst venues ever they treated the bands like shit as well as the audience what does everyone else think? - Tue, 29 Mar 2005 5:44pm
lauren a User Info... | it seemed like an okay venue to me. the show was awesome except i'm pretty sure someone from the coat check stole $20 from my bag. - Tue, 29 Mar 2005 6:34pm
KinDusty User Info... | I'm not sure of the details, but I heard that the bouncers decided not to let the drummer of Choke in because he looked too young..(?) They finally let him in just in time to play their set, but the bouncers were still cruisin thru the place, making sure all was in order...just kind of awkward. The venue was cool, decent stage, good sound cool lights and all that fancy crap. GOMM were a really tight, semi-technical band. I liked their sound, but the singer's voice kind of bothered me. Overall good stage presence and Im sure the audience enjoyed. The reason was awesome, I was hoping to hear some different stuff than what was on their album "Ravenna" (sp?) but they played about 7 songs from that cd. Really entertaining band to watch, REALLY good tunes, and cool guys too. go see them if you get the chance. It was kind of sad to think that i probably wont' ever see choke again, as I've liked that band for quite a few years now. They didn't play as good as the last time i saw them, but still, you've gotta admire a band that can play and original type of music like that for so many years. All in all I had a really good time, wish i had some $$$ for merch, but i spent it all at the door ($12!) - Tue, 29 Mar 2005 7:15pm
mcecill User Info... | I thought the bands all played really well. You could see that Choke werent fully into their set after having such a rough time with the venue. I've talked to some people at Diego's and they have assured me that similar problems with the door staff will not happen again. The venue has a lot of potential, and easily one of the best stages in town. cough... Kincaide canadian tour kickoff party with Morning Call, Friday, Aprii 29th at Diego's... cough. - Tue, 29 Mar 2005 8:18pm
Scott Kirkwood User Info... | Diego's has taken your words to heart and have made steps to correct the situtaion for all future acts and events. This incident could have been averted if all parties were on the same page. To combat this and to raise the level of acts coming to Diego's. I (Scott Kirkwood) have been aquired to facilitate shows and promote events for the venue. For those unaware I've been on the Island for 5 years initially working for The Q! and The Zone@91-3. I've done booking, promotion and live event execution for "Armchair Cynics" for 2 years. My passion is live music and the positive experience you receive when it goes right...really right! To all Victoria Live music fans come see for yourself! Any bands interested in performing or anyone you'd like to see come to town email me. [email protected] - Tue, 29 Mar 2005 8:46pm

Criss Crass User Info... | I was there on Mon. nite and saw it all go down. What a joke. The first thing Diego's needs to do is give their bouncers an attitude adjustment. I realize bars are being cracked down on for IDs and stuff but aren't they always saying that. There are several ways of dealing with people and they will co-operate, but the bouncers there aren't using any. To the point they we're the biggest fucking pricks I have ever seen running a door anywhere. They were assholes not just to the band but to everyone I saw them dealing with all nite. So rude and power trippin. One bouncer was yelling at one of the guys from the band. Telling him to "pack his shit and get the fuck out cos he wasn't playin there." Also instead of letting people with stamps (while the incident with the band was goin on) back into the bar, once they went outside, they were forced to stand in line until things were "sorted out". The time those people spent in line, is time they could have been drinking (spending money) in the bar. Not to mention they were getting irate because they allready had drinks or belongings inside. I heard many say,"this'll be my last show here". Hiring you Scott may have been a step in the right direction for shows. Or will the other issues such a more friendly door staff be addressed as well? Diego's is a good venue but as it stands I myself won't be goin there anytime soon and I will be telling others to do the same!!! - Wed, 30 Mar 2005 4:52pm
mb User Info... | wicked show. yeah that thing with the bouncers was seriously retarded. at the same time, that place has a great stage and could be really good once they start figuring out how to get things done. which maybe they're doing since they decided to change promo staff. but I definitely don't think it's destroying live music. maybe just not adding much yet. - Wed, 30 Mar 2005 9:27pm
Livevic Scott User Info... | The show was great from a musical side, although choke didn't play their best set however thats to be expected with what they went through. On the positive side the owner of the bar/hotel called me yesterday and appologied for how things turned out. He also invited me out to lunch on sunday to discuss changes that need to occur for them to be able to present live music. From the sounds of it they're atempting to make some steps in the right direction, I'll let you guys know how the meeting goes. Its a nice room, hopefully something can be worked out. - Wed, 30 Mar 2005 11:43pm
hedcaes User Info... | the vancouver show was wicked! a weak turnout cause house of blues decided to rape everyone on tixs but the 19 bones was worth it. ya..stephan wasn't looking to good after the bouncer incident, some wicked bruises and such...he's such a good guy, i fuckin hate bouncers...and its just one more reason too. - Thu, 31 Mar 2005 2:05pm
Red Lion Inn User Info... | Hello this is Wally the Owner of Diego's Night Club. I just wanted to come onto the site and appologize on behalf of my staff for the incident that happened the night of this show. The doorman involved in the altercation with the drummer from Choke has been removed from his position and its my hope that you will continue to help us make Diego's a good live venue. Its my goal to make everyone feel welcome at our club and we are taking every step possible to insure that things like this never happen again at Diego's. We welcome your imput on this and any other events. Hope to see you at an upcomming show. Thanks. -Wally - Sun, 3 Apr 2005 2:33pm
The One After Two User Info... | did the bouncer punch the guy? - Sun, 3 Apr 2005 6:10pm
ML7Mike User Info... | So... the guy from Choke got choked.. Whats with some bouncers in this city? Do bars hire bouncers that come from so far north they have never been to a live show before? Fights at live shows in this city are pretty rare too so unless they were letting their regular top40 crowd in they should have had no problems. Idiots. - Wed, 6 Apr 2005 11:00am
Adrenaline Animal User Info... | I've only ever seen 2 fight's durring live shows in this city, and they were both about 5 years ago. - Wed, 6 Apr 2005 5:49pm
