Soap Dodger User Info... | I showed up to check out SplitTract, and hadn't heard ADL before, but enjoyed the set. Great energy and super tight. Throw in the free CD and it was well worth the $5. My only complaint was that the bands were on too early. I showed up just after 11pm to catch the opener and ADL were already a few songs into their set. The show was done by midnight - what's up with that? - Fri, 28 Jan 2005 3:30pm
duder User Info... | Well what can I say, After hearing Another Day Lived's CD my intrest was peaked. After seeing them live I was very disapointed it sounded like they had a new or different drummer playing live? did they? does anyone know? if so can you post a answer? for me it was too much wannabe nickleback for my taste. The singer was pretty good and that is about it. P.S. I want my money back because now when I listen to the CD I can only hear the poor drumming that I heard live and picture that over exaggerated rock posing. Quit while you guys are ahead! - Fri, 28 Jan 2005 10:06pm
The One After Two User Info... | I think the disc is solid and I've seen the live show a few times (missed yesterday) and like it. A lot of crunch and big riffs but they all can't be scenester bands. - Fri, 28 Jan 2005 10:24pm
longstoryshort User Info... | I heard the CD today...sucks...don't even want to see the live show... - Sat, 29 Jan 2005 12:14am
Gagger User Info... | I too would like my money back. The drummer was peculiar to say the least. The show lasted no where past midnight, and I too have to listen to a CD that does not sound at all like the band does live. Just goes to show you, that there isn't much screening involved when it comes to ZONES BOTM. - Sat, 29 Jan 2005 6:26pm
Trican User Info... | You people are very mean... - Sat, 29 Jan 2005 6:44pm
Gagg User Info... | Nothing mean in stating a non biased opinion. Hell. Just because they were Band of the month, doesnt mean they were entitled to a good show review. Great guys, just bad show. - Sun, 30 Jan 2005 12:01pm
SilverNebula User Info... | Don't blame The Zone's choice of BOTM for you not liking the band. They do screen the bands very well. It's all a matter of opinion... Fair enough that you didn't enjoy it, but I am sure many others did. - Mon, 31 Jan 2005 12:17pm
Trican User Info... | Maybe there are no good "mainstream" bands in Victoria... ohh well - Mon, 31 Jan 2005 9:35pm
Nik Olaz User Info... | the best mainstream band is theset. - Mon, 31 Jan 2005 11:33pm
Trican User Info... | they aren't "mainstream" they are kvlt and tr00.... w00t - Tue, 1 Feb 2005 3:08am
~ RaiN ~ User Info... | I've been to most of ADL's shows, I think unlike other bands out there, they can actually play a sweet live show. The CD is well done, sounds awesome. Keep up the Good Work guys - Fri, 4 Feb 2005 7:24pm
goofus User Info... | this ones for duder as a matter of fact when the band signed on the label teh producer told the drummer he wasnt good enough to play on the cd and he would play instead. yeah harsh thats what records do and the bigger the label the less a band can be themselves - Mon, 7 Feb 2005 10:28pm
One Divided User Info... | They're on a label? that's news to me. - Mon, 7 Feb 2005 11:13pm
Trican User Info... | They will probably get on some shitty label like 604 records... I hear they are big "Theory" fans :) - Tue, 8 Feb 2005 1:44am
Ian User Info... | Adam, apparently you now qualify as a "label." - Tue, 8 Feb 2005 5:38pm
joannagoanna User Info... | i only went to adl who else played? - Tue, 8 Feb 2005 7:40pm
princess p User Info... | Soap Dodger The Zone makes the bands start early. When we did the motm show we were asked to be on by 11:00. - Wed, 9 Feb 2005 12:45pm
Brandon User Info... | Why would they want to do that? It seems fucked up to me - Wed, 9 Feb 2005 1:18pm
Gracie User Info... | Hey everyone, I’m not trying to upset anybody but I just wanted to clear a few things up in here that aren't completely correct. I know the members of ADL personally and though I'm not sure exactly why the regular drummer didn't play on the CD, I do know that the producer didn't tell the drummer he wasn't good enough. I'm sure there were many reasons as to why that happened. Possibly expenses, equipment, education, etc. that may have gotten in the way. Also, I'm sure there were various reasons as to why it sounds so different on the CD as compared to how it sounds live. Most of the equipment that the CD drummer used was either rented or owned by the CD drummer and was much, much more expensive than the general public (i.e. the regular drummer and most unsigned drummers) could afford. Though I’m not completely sure about all of this, I do know that ADL are not fans of “Theory”, I assure you, nor are they signed to any “labels” such as 604. ADL has a great producer and they did the best they could with the limited time and money they had (and I personally think did an awesome job of it). Thanks! - Wed, 9 Feb 2005 5:55pm
Soap Dodger User Info... | Thanks for the clarification Princess. I'll have to show up earlier next time I go to one of those. - Wed, 9 Feb 2005 7:47pm
ONE WILL FALL User Info... | They make the band start early because they stop the live broadcast at 11:30 and want to announce the band on the air and give one last "so get you ass down to steamers" (just to clarify they do not broadcast the preformance of the band) - Thu, 10 Feb 2005 9:39am
shaggy User Info... | I personally think on the botm shows, seeing as the zone needs the band on at 11:00 that they should have a closing act to play after. Everyone leaves after the botm because there's no more entertainment. This is shitty for the bar and especially the bartenders and floor staff bacause essentially the bar shuts down when the bands done. It's great that the zone puts on these shows to help out local bands, but help the bar staff make some money and keep people in the bar. Then everybody wins. The bands for the exposure, the bar because the shows usually bring in a good sized crowd, and the staff gets to make some money, and the late comers still get to see some live music which is what it's all about. -Simon Sounguy - Thu, 10 Feb 2005 10:36am
Brandon User Info... | Fuck, thats retarded. - Fri, 11 Feb 2005 12:34pm
shaggy User Info... | good commentary. you obviously don't work in the industry - Fri, 11 Feb 2005 1:02pm
Dave 30078 User Info... | Why don't they just play till 2am like a band full of tuff guys Got no material or somethin? Oooooooooo Yeahh - Fri, 11 Feb 2005 1:07pm
mcecill User Info... | I really don't feel all that bad for Steamers considering they take half the door from the BOTM shows, or at least they did when we played ours. That to me seems a little off. I feel for the folks who come down for a solid night of bands, pay five bucks at door at 10 and only get an hour of music then everyone leaves. - Fri, 11 Feb 2005 5:09pm
Trican User Info... | Ok... hold on "Gracie" let's clear a few things up. We "theset" recorded with that bastard producer aswell "the pop sensation". Every drummer that records with him uses his kit. I wonder why... maybe because it's a Yamaha Maple. I guess bands want the best sounding drums on their recordings? I know I do. ADL aren't fans of Theory of a Deadman? Don't kid yourself. The "604" comment was a bit of an inside joke. It is true that "the pop sensation" is a terrific producer, that's why he wins awards and such... or as I like to call it ... "little glass M's glued to a fucking rock", but when recording, a band should have the skill to be able to play their songs live. If they aren't able to there's really no point on recording is there? P.S. Look at me rock on synth!!!!! - Sat, 12 Feb 2005 4:52pm
Nik Olaz User Info... | Well another point to recording is to produce an album, Trican. Sometimes i'd rather listen to a band on CD rather than live, usually because when I see them live, it doesn't give me the same atmosphere as when i'm listening to the record. When people put on headphones, its not just a relfection of them playing live, it could also be atmospheric. I think alot of people don't get the aspect of an album being a piece of art rather than just a studio version of the live show. - Sat, 12 Feb 2005 5:44pm
One Divided User Info... | Well I was thinking about that sort of thing recently. A lot of bands will "overproduce" their sound on a record.. A lot of them will hire session players too. As far as live show goes, I'd be very surprised if I ever saw 2% of the bands I like live. So for that matter, I would rather enjoy a well produced album which I can listen to over and over. Not that I'm not a fan of bare bones recordings either. It just comes down to what sutes the vibe of the band. Look how much pearl jam changed after "ten", their most over-produced album.. It just so happens to be most people's favourite album by the band. - Sat, 12 Feb 2005 7:46pm
Trican User Info... | I hate you Nik... *hugs* Adam is a douche too... *kisses* - Sat, 12 Feb 2005 8:20pm
Gracie User Info... | trican, They can play the songs the same way live. Yes, they were a little bit over produced, but who isn't these days? P.s- Great picture, but when I looked at it, I couldn't tell if you're a guy or a girl.... - Sun, 13 Feb 2005 12:37pm
Trican User Info... | no "they" as in "drummer" can't .... I've played with them. ohh and the girl thing.. that's because I'm "trendy" you see noadays it's sweet to look like a total fag. - Sun, 13 Feb 2005 2:45pm
The One After Two User Info... | ...and scientificly proven! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4261489.stm - Sun, 13 Feb 2005 5:38pm
joannagoanna User Info... | heres the deal on adl - steve and justin write amazing songs, lyricallly they arent that great, but still i think theyre cpable of going much farther than the rest o the band is letting them. i dont care if your the drummers g/f. and if a band doest sound good live, theyr not a good band, regardless how they sound on the cd the cd is basically work of the producers - Sun, 13 Feb 2005 7:49pm
Nik Olaz User Info... | dude that shit about feminine guys being more attractive is a solid lie. proof: me. - Sun, 13 Feb 2005 9:39pm
