Enid Placid User Info... | Wow, what a load of crap. I didn't watch the whole thing as it was too annoying to bear, apart from the "owch " noises akin to ripping off a bandaid mixed with the stupid viluals, i had more fun making fun of the people who came to watch that tripe. Guys were wearing more eyeliner than me.... i thought i was at Evo for a second....but Evolution doesn't play shit that sounds like a distorted value village tape of crappy halloween noises played at the wrong speed. Depeche Mode would have been a welcomed change. What ever the hell that show was, im glad i didn't pay for it. If i wanna go watch 2 D&D guys duke it out on lap tops, i'll pop into the local high school computer class. - Sun, 23 Jan 2005 5:57pm

Jaron Evil User Info... | Its a very extreme style of music and very experimental. I could totally see how someone would consider it to be confusingly boring noise, however for those who get it, like myself, I have to say this about the show.... Griefer - Not bad, Some interesting industrial noises with a sound very akin to Master/Slave Relationship. Music played off well with the slides shown on the projector. If Carcass went experimental darkwave, they'd be Griefer. Funerary Call - Definitely the best act of the night. One guy doing his thing, and what a disturbing thing it was. The music linked up with the video perfectly to create a genuinely scary experience. I was mesmerized throughout this performance and was genuinely creeped out by the end. This guy is definitely going places. He should've headlined this show. G42 - What an embarassment to darkwave. The whole performance was one annoyingly long song that never went anywhere musically (unlike the first 2 acts). The video shown had absolutely no relationship to the "music" being performed. Griefer had worked hard on piecing together slides, Funerary Call had tracked down the worlds most distrubing film and linked his music to it perfectly, whereas these guys seemed to be mocking their efforts by showing some german black&white film that was completely irrelevent to the performance. All in all, a pretty good show. I can see why people like to come to these shows stoned on E, Acid or shrooms. m/ - Mon, 24 Jan 2005 7:58am
The Box Drone User Info... | For future reference... If you don't want to see guys dressed in black with eyeliner & listen to obnoxious noise made by Geeks on laptops then don't go to industrial gigs! Because if it says industrial on the poster, that's probably exactly what you're going to get 80% of the time. That being said, i'm sad i missed it. - Mon, 24 Jan 2005 4:57pm
KnifeGhost User Info... | If you didn't like it, it means you're not smart enough to understand.... - Mon, 24 Jan 2005 10:59pm
Nat User Info... | theres nothing smart about it. i saw griefer at the halloween show...it is exactly as it seems: some weird dudes hunched over keyboards screaming with some sick ass slides they got off google with the goal of impressive some angsty counterculture they havent defined.....so really, what is tehre to get? enlighten us. - Tue, 25 Jan 2005 1:57pm
moron User Info... | For the record, *none* of my slides are from Google's image search as I have an extensive 35mm slide collection. The vid from Saturday was comprised of slides on my 35mm projector shot using a miniDV cam with some post editing afterwards for the final apocalypse section (some pilfered but altered footage was used for the flyby, video sampling if you will). As to whether we suck or not that's not my place to argue but I should note that what we do is normally termed "death industrial" as opposed to the less descriptive "angsty counterculture" you chose. If you are not familliar with the sub-genre check out bands like Brighter Death Now, Atrax Morgue, Deathpile, Control, etc. The point for me personally is catharsis. I have no idea why you were there though (Depeche Mode is about as industrial as Bon Jovi is metal). Cheers - Tue, 25 Jan 2005 2:07pm
Mutilashawn User Info... | can anyone recommend me similar bands to funerary call? I can easily see myself getting into that style of dark ambient or whatever it is properly called. - Tue, 25 Jan 2005 3:43pm
Nat User Info... | angsty counterculture: the guys wearing black eye liner with an apathetic expression at your shows. - Tue, 25 Jan 2005 3:48pm
moron User Info... | If you like Funerary Call check out: mz.412 In Slaughter Natives Deutsch Nepal Tugend A lot of stuff on Cold Meat Industry has strong similarities: http://www.coldmeat.se Funerary Call has dark ambient elements but is not completely in that direction. If you prefer the more ambient elements you should check out US label Somnambulant Corpse who has lots of stuff more in that direction: http://www.somnambulantcorpse.com Cheers - Tue, 25 Jan 2005 5:13pm
Jaron Evil User Info... | Shawn, we should talk! I got so many bands in the vein of Funerary Call I could recommend to you. m/ - Tue, 25 Jan 2005 10:34pm
Laprider User Info... | Well...I was at this show, dan needed a sound guy on short notice, I was not busy. Now, I know nothing really of this genre of music but here are my thoughts.... I was impressed for the most part, you have to experience something to really get it. I thought the first act was great...melodic cacophonic I enjoyed the second act, found it quite dark, but definetaly appreciated the work the guy put into his set. I thought the third act was, well very uninspired and was not impressed. I like the whole visual thing and guess that has a lot to do with the show. my two cents - Wed, 26 Jan 2005 11:24am
Mutilashawn User Info... | so far I'm only really digging In Slaughter Natives, but thanks! - Wed, 26 Jan 2005 1:40pm
Enid Placid User Info... | ok ok .... so i didn't "get it". i don't listen to industrial music, but i don't discredit it in any way. Like all music genres theres good bad and the ugly. I didn't actually go to the show in hopes of hearing something new and fantastic that would blow me away.... i went there to drink with some background noise.. and what i heard was noise indeed. I forgot to wear my all black pleather cat suit, which aparently is crucial to understanding and enjoying a cacophony obnoxious screaming and a slide show that looked like it was set up by a ill humoured 12 year old. Oh well. As for depeche mode, i only said it would be a welcomed change as in comparison to that crap. Depeche mode sux dirty donkey balls... and i think thats at least ONE thing we can all agree on. - Wed, 26 Jan 2005 7:41pm
Nik Olaz User Info... | Enid Placid, leave the hall. Now. - Wed, 26 Jan 2005 9:43pm
Funerary Call User Info... | If anyone out there has photos of the Funerary Call set, please contact me at: [email protected] Anything would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all who came out in support of the music! - Wed, 26 Jan 2005 10:34pm
Mutilashawn User Info... | no Depeche Mode rules! YOU "suck dirty donkey balls"! - Thu, 27 Jan 2005 8:26am
Skullcrusher User Info... | Enid, your posts are truly useless and about as witty as a beavis and butthead episode. You said it yourself you "don't listen to industrial music" so how could your opinion be at all discerning? Have you nothing better to do?? - Fri, 28 Jan 2005 2:23pm
Darsh User Info... | I frickin missed Griefer damn it! But they rock, and i'm a lame-ass for missing them. Funerary Call rocked my socks off! Unholyshit! It was a rad set. Dark Ambient Noise is daring me to get right the fuck into it. Maybe Mutilashawn and i can get some orange julius at the mall then listen to some dark ambient at his place, not like a date or anything, just as like, friends. G42 was good, NES-esque at parts which really got me pumped. Their visuals didn't do it for me .......... at all, infact i thought it took away from the over all "feel" of their set. I guess i shouldn't expect most noise to have super good visuals like Griefers awesome slides, and Funerary Call's super-creepy-super-underground movie. Brittney Spears fans (not naming names, Enid Placid) that can't wrap their heads around noise art can F-off all the way back to the mall. - Fri, 28 Jan 2005 7:00pm
Nat User Info... | just because we dont like "industrial" noise (aka suicide "atmospheric" shit) doesnt mean we listen to britney spears - Sat, 29 Jan 2005 1:12am
Mutilashawn User Info... | sounds good Darsh, maybe we could catch a movie too or something. if you want you can ride on the handle bars of my bike. I don't know, could be fun. - Sat, 29 Jan 2005 3:07pm
