I came in about half way into Griefer's set and like always they sounded abrasive. Very droning to very chaotic. Plus who doesn't love the slide show? Very impressive as usual.

However, it wasn't until Funerary Call started that I, in fact, witnessed the darkest, most horrifying ocular/aural experience of my life. Something truly evil. A smaller atmosphere such as Logan's is the perfect host for such a (as Jaron Evil put it) "mind fuck". Dark enchanting soundscapes mixed with a satiating dose of classical instruments. Now I know I missed out when I missed the show at Lucky last year. Curse my age. But this easily obliterated any prior disappointments. This wasn't just a set to be watched, it was a genuine experience.

I left into about the 2nd song (?) of G42 . . . they really didn't hold my attention, and in all honesty I think Funerary Call should have headlined. At least there was a healthy dose of German expressionism thrown into the mix; which seems to go hand in hand with noise/industrial. Which actually threw me off more than anything else. I left wondering moreso what was going on the movie rather than what was going on the music (?). In fact, I think these guys should have opened . . .

Great show and I look forward to more like this!! - Sun, 23 Jan 2005 10:07am

very impressive sets by the first two bands.. Greifer's set was really good.. i liked the visuals on the last song especially. the vocals have really come a long way since the first time i saw them at lucky a year ago with Funerary Call, Allfather, and Inhuman... the sound at logans last night was really good.. i could here everything that all the bands were doing. Funerary Call stole the show for me.. the visuals were really haunting and creepy.. and musically he had alot of "riffs" as i understand them.. which allowed me to get more into it. the last band was good too.. but by that time i was at the back talking to a few people.. so i didn't catch there whole set. good turnout.. and good times. - Sun, 23 Jan 2005 1:14pm

Here's my thoughts....

Griefer - Not bad, Some interesting industrial noises with a sound very akin to Master/Slave Relationship. Music played off well with the slides shown on the projector. If Carcass went experimental darkwave, they'd be Griefer.

Funerary Call - Definitely the best act of the night. One guy doing his thing, and what a disturbing thing it was. The music linked up with the video perfectly to create a genuinely scary experience. I was mesmerized throughout this performance and was genuinely creeped out by the end. This guy is definitely going places. He should've headlined this show.

G42 - What an embarassment to darkwave. The whole performance was one annoyingly long song that never went anywhere musically (unlike the first 2 acts). The video shown had absolutely no relationship to the "music" being performed. Griefer had worked hard on piecing together slides, Funerary Call had tracked down the worlds most distrubing film and linked his music to it perfectly, whereas these guys seemed to be mocking their efforts by showing some german black&white film that was completely irrelevent to the performance.

All in all, a pretty good show. I can see why people like to come to these shows stoned on E, Acid or shrooms.

Fun stuff. A different feel than a more traditional performance by a band; more immersive and less participatory I guess. All the bands were good, but I agree that Funerary Call and Griefer were a bit better.

It's great to hear local people putting this kind of dark, gloomy shit together. Keep it up - we need more variety in the underground music scene. - Tue, 25 Jan 2005 12:39pm
