| Deaner User Info... | I only got to see THE VENDORS, but from what I heard, they sounded really good and are only gonna get better. The rest of the time I was driving around doing last minute jobs...I wasn't there for when they made the announcement that we won, but was very pleased with the news, thanks everyone. | Tyler User Info... |  if anyone saw me, I was the guy in the girl pants/white belt/black hair as for the show... First off, it was really weird how organized it was. Coat checks, raffles, a DJ between bands, nobody allowed out then in again, a smoking area, so much being thrown to the audience, free candy... I was just like "what the hell?" Anyway for the bands.. The Vendors - I liked some of the guitarwork but in my opinion most of the songs were very similar and I really didn't like the vocals. Not really my thing The Current Swell - Very interesting and different. They were described as surf rock but I'd call them surf folk. Acoustic guitars.. hmm. Anyway they had a cool vibe but didn't seem very well suited for this type of show. Anyway I still enjoyed them, even though the volume levels were a little weird. One Will Fall - I didn't enjoy them too much. Kind of average alternative. I kicked those invisible ninja's asses (threw down) because I was bored, and accidently knocked some girl over. I was really worried that I hurt her because an ambulance came, but I believe she was really really drunk and it was therefore not my fault. theset - They were honestly pretty much the reason I chose this show over the over one. I LOVED their first show with the reason a few months ago. Anyway they got a lot better. I love their style and really enjoyed their set. Everyone packed in and loved it. I believe theset will quickly rise to be one of the local headliners. the part where steve came up was pretty rad also cipher - I didn't like them. Their singer's guitar tone sounded horrible... no crunch, more like the sound of a really bad amp mixed with the sound of flatuation. It couldn't have been intentional. I would blame the BC Rich Warlock he used, it's been my experience that BC Rich's have shitty tone. Or it could be his inability to use the pedals he had. Anyway he put his guitar down later, maybe it was intentional. They might have been having problems I didn't know about. Anyway the style didn't appeal to me. I did however, like the Brittany Spears cover. All in all most of the bands were kind of substandard in my eyes, or not my thing, but still sort of interesting. theset made it worth it, and because of the presense of my friends there, I enjoyed the show enough to make it work the $5 (which was pretty cheap, that's cool). It was sort of weird that there was a skate thing in the back. Also despite all the attempts to stop alcohol, people were drinking in the bathroom and such. and it was nice to meet you, dean of theset - Sat, 22 Jan 2005 11:19pm | ||
