| Sati User Info... | I KNOW that they're just a cover band, but I don't care, Power Clown just took over DA TOWN Wednesday night! I remember thinking the exact same thing last January when they played the Brickyard.. that a tribute band in clown suits just set the tone/raised the bar for the entire metal scene for the year.. that if any band came close it'd be a killer year. And a few did. Anyway, I stand by what I say. Wicked drummer, wicked guitars, and Dan's like a man who's been in training to pull that shit off. I know they're playing Maiden so how can you go wrong.. but they're not playing Maiden lame.. they're playing it full on. Dan was so on it seemed he was overpowering the band through a lot of it so the times he stepped away it almost took a minute before we could all come down and focus on the rest of them.. but then every one of them rose up to it and slayed! There were very few lapses in energy that night, Dan had some, got a little winded, but came back every time. And they kept coming out and playing more and more and more too.. so much fun! That was so killer.. my neck's gonna be screwed for another couple of days. I think I'm gonna stalk Dan after that.. I'm hitting Acoustichaos with him and Plow and Blackie etc tonight, so thats a start. And next month is Death Sentence.. you guys who missed them in Vic should come over for it.. its just after VDay too, so you can blow kisses. Hey Jay, how'd the 10am appointment go? | jay brown User Info... | I died...... I woke up at 11 with the ever so popular words... werent you supposed to be somewhere this morning? So I phoned and rescheduled for a little later in the day. I did show up wearing sunglasses and sweating out booze yet again though. The show rocked...Powerclown played a great set.. two of them actually. | Sati User Info... | ha, Jay, too funny. Great seeing you there! Always fun partying with you... of course that doesn't explain all the times I run away though does it? I just read over what I had written, but I kinda got it wrong. Dan wasn't overpowering the band, but he certainly seems a driving force. The other guys are amazing enough on their own (and on their own beat the crap out of most bands), but it seems like Dan's energy is carrying them cuz he becomes the part.. there's something about his love for the people he's paying tribute to that translates into some kinda power. From what I remember its the same deal with him and Death Sentence.. he loved DS, you can just tell. I kinda got the impression they're riding that energy.. cuz when he stops they kinda look around going, "uh, what happened?" and then pull it together and like I said, step up. Doesn't mean that they're being lame while he's singing - thats what having a great frontman's all about. Dan couldn't do it without them either.. he knows they're hot. I know I'm tripping on him right now, but I saw him play last night and it did nothing for me. Go figure. Cam from Lupus was pretty cool though.. you guys should check him out.. totally offensive but cool songs about being an east van scumbag, from the heart. I've walked out of Lupus shows before cuz they've sucked so bad, but lately he's been really on. Makes me think of cool singer songwriters like Bob Forrest from Thelonious Monster, if any of you know who that is. I got to hang out with him once!!!
