Anonymous User Info... | how was the sundday night show? is it worth buying tickets for tonight? also, are there any? - Tue, 11 Jan 2005 1:18pm
Nebula User Info... | Show was on Monday, not Sunday and it was awesome! Opening band Elizabeth was good too. Hot Hot Heat played 3 encore songs and they were all new stuff. And great new stuff. I would recommend going tonight, but they may be sold out. Logan's is for sure, but try Ditch Records. - Tue, 11 Jan 2005 2:26pm
Chris Logan User Info... | Tonight's show is indeed completely sold out. - Tue, 11 Jan 2005 2:59pm
mark User Info... | Monday night was indeed an awesome show! Great mix of new and old HHH material enjoyed by all! Missed Elizabeth but by all accounts they were equally amazing. Great EP too, well worth the $5! - Tue, 11 Jan 2005 4:06pm
Onemosphere User Info... | I actually liked Elizabeth better. Hot Hot Heat have really good energy live, they seem to make it a "fun" atmosphere. Their singer reminds me of that kid from Pushing Up Daisies. - Tue, 11 Jan 2005 4:23pm
Anonymous User Info... | How was the new guy? - Tue, 11 Jan 2005 4:29pm
JasonLove User Info... | I saw no show and I don't have any plans to see a HHH show any time soon, so maybe I shouldn't post in show reveiws, but I do have opinions. HHH has lots of stage presence but not so much musicality. If you are looking for a good show full of *RAWK* definitely czeck the Heat. Also I feel the need to say that Pushing Up Daisies are HELLA DOPE. Ywah. - Tue, 11 Jan 2005 4:39pm
Vegas J User Info... | Yeah or Sideshow Bob! Ha! That's quite a lid he's got goin' ! Great job from HHH...especially the soundman who really worked sweet sounds out of that system! Fun songs, supertight show. One slight drag...they really didn't play to or "engage the crowd" much..just one song after another back 2 back..which is cool, but it is nice if the band takes a bit of a break to talk to the "Home town" crowd...not a big deal though.. Elizabeth was really good too, they have the sound and the energy and the look! Lot's of people in the crowd after really liked them but agreed they needed some vocal melody hooks if they were to have greater success. They just didn't have any "memorable" tunes I felt..and we all know what writing a catchy song can do for a band's career, right? (Y'know "Bandages in my"...like it or not try NOT to hear the rest of the song in your head) Hit songs put nice cars in driveways... Don't mis-understand me though...not trying to dis Elizabeth at all, 'cause I was bouncing and having a blast anyways...I just think they need catchier stuff to "break out". Oh the new guy...pretty darn good...plays left handed...and while we're on the looks thing...did anyone else think he looked like Jim Carrey in "Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind?" ...I dunno..I should drink less...heh heh..or more! BTW Chris I hear it's "any day now!" Congrats in advance. - Tue, 11 Jan 2005 4:56pm
john User Info... | Um, I cant disagree for the most part with any review so far. First things first, Elizabeth were amazing. They byfar played a better set then HHH, they played with so much energy and made it fun. Sound problems for this band was a precursor to the troubles HHH would have. Elizabeth's styles was enjoyable and remeniscent of older hot hot heat sorta. their ep was well worth the 6 bucks, they were also really good guys, it was a shame no one really paid attentionto their set. Hot Hot Heat's set was good, considering they havent played in a year, but honestly it was abit shit. True they did play a good mix of old and new songs, but for the most part the old songs didnt sound quite right. Maybe it was the new guitar player, who obviously will struggle the first few shows, or the fact all the band was rusty. the newer songs for the most part were ok. from the close up positioni had to the stage feedback and sound problems were very annoying, and obviously annoying to the band themselves, a few times looking abit frustrated. One cant be too critical of their set considering this show is their first in a year, and last time they played it was the culmanation of 2 years of touring, obviously the band will not be in prime shape for a week more weeks. all in all the old songs were reallycool to see again, the new songs were ok, some really good others not so good, dustin (bass) really played well, the new guitar player wasnt anything special, but things will get better. - Tue, 11 Jan 2005 5:16pm
mcecill User Info... | HHH were excellent. It was my first time seeing them and everything about the band, from the musicianship to the vocal melodies, to the songwriting, to the stage performance, is completely professional. The sound in Logan's for HHH was better than I have ever heard that bar sound. Elizabeth didn't really grab me, tight band, just nothing memorable about the songs or performance. - Tue, 11 Jan 2005 5:23pm
Vegas J User Info... | Yeah the sound WAS great wasn't it? (Feedback aside..smaller stage and Steve Bray likes to come out in front where the moniters were aiming) All the bands I've heard at Logans all had a "You can hear everything OK" sound, but there seems to be a lack of reverb or effects...I haven't seen the gear they have or ever seen the soundman, so maybe they just don't have processors on their PA rack..but the vocals always seem to be "bone dry"..lot's of times I've said to myself "If they'd just give the singer some FX or verb it would sound way better!" But that's just my opinion..I like a more "produced" live sound like HHH had! Please No offence to Chris & crew BTW..it DOES always sound decent enough...and it's a great bar & stage! - Tue, 11 Jan 2005 5:40pm
Mi*coll* User Info... | well, it was clearly a different PA. - Tue, 11 Jan 2005 8:25pm
KinChris User Info... | HHH was much better than Elizabeth. The sound was definitely not great. It was OK. It was good to see that the sound guy was at the board the whole time, but he was maxing the levels out a bit too much. I think he was trying to make it as loud as possible without getting feedback. Unfortunately he got feedback. I mean, the reason it happened was because he tried to bring up one level that was drowned out. I hate it when sound guys do that! How about bringing everything else down a bit? Logan's is a small sized club and doesn't need to have the PA cranked to fill the room. Loud is good, but louder isn't always better. As for the new HHH guitar player, he was good. But I think he needed a better rig. His guitar tone was very thin most of the time. Also, apparently he messed up the first song a bit. - Wed, 12 Jan 2005 11:37am
Vegas J User Info... | Hi Mi*coll*...I think the PA was the same..different board/rack & soundman though...house guy probably for Elizabeth and HHH's hired gun for them I think. True it was a little loud for HHH but apart from the feedback (singing over right over the honkin moniters will do that !)it was punchy clear and pretty smooth...I saw the HHH rack and there were quite a few compressers and effects & they were all rolling along...anyways..that was Monday's show..Chris, baby yet? - Wed, 12 Jan 2005 3:45pm

Onemosphere User Info... | It beats scouring thrift shops to find something that you're only 50 % sure no one died in recently. - Fri, 14 Jan 2005 12:02am
Chris Logan User Info... | "this may be really really vain, but was I the only person that noticed the new guitar player was wearing a really ugly gap sweater thats been on clearance for months?" KnifeGhost User Info... | Onemosphere, I work at Value Village.... I can tell you for sure that, in sweater vests, the likelihood that someone died in it approaches 90%..... - Mon, 24 Jan 2005 11:05pm
Mi*coll* User Info... | do you ever have to exhume corpses out of the sweaters? that seems like something you'd have to do at VV. - Mon, 24 Jan 2005 11:24pm
SublimeKid User Info... | What makes the sweater post the funniest?/weirdest? The fact that you can't tell if he's being serious? Or the fact that he works at The Gap's other clothing store, Old Navy? hehehe.. - Wed, 26 Jan 2005 2:31am
