Jettison User Info... | Well i was checking out that "other" show a few blocks away (which might i add sucked) and my bud told me there was some killers bands at the Cambie. So we stroll on over there and arrive a bit into Unit 29's set. Good tight sound from them and a booming voice. I ended up wishing they played more up tempo tunes but all in all they were a really good set up band for the next act. Next up were the headliners KICKBACK. I saw these guys a few times before but never as the headliners and i gotta say they fucking ruled! 2+ hours of high octane rock/metal, or "rock fury" as they called it. I dont think there was one point where i wasnt headbanging. OK here's the sign of a great band. When you're at a bar watching them you have a bunch of people they you've never met before come up rocking out and basically it's like they're your oldest friend. Well KICKBACK pulled that off last night. It was like everyone in the place knew each other. A great time. I raise a brew to the band member that was playing with the 104 fever, i dont remember who it was but that's rocknroll when you blatantly disregard personal health for the cause of rocking. Most bands these days stand there and stare at their feet or try to trash the stage, these guys just pure ROCKED OUT!!!!! Excellent stage show, great charisma from the singer. I highly suggest next time these guys are playing anywhere that you get off your asses and check them out. Mark my words.. fuck HHH, the Cynics, Furtado, Swollen Members, and whoever else got signed off this rock. If someone signs KICKBACK and promotes them they'll take over world. There's a harsh lack of good music and these guys are FUCKING GREAT!! - Sat, 1 Jan 2005 10:59am
Chris User Info... | i don't know who you are personnaly, but thanks for the review and the past ones as well, Cheers! as for adam (dude with 104 fever and bronchitis) the guy is unreal still got up there mashed into his bass and sang and still tried his best to sing our Filter cover song. i know, i woke up in the same room as him this morning and he was coughing up some blood. and you're right that's what rockin out is all about, no pussy whips around this band. thanks to our good friends of Unit 29 for sharing this great night with us thanks to all the people who showed up and had a great time and was just as sore as we are today. thanks to the cambie for having us out. Rock ain't rock til you add all that fury!!! - Sat, 1 Jan 2005 5:15pm
