Hey I wanna give thanks to Sharon and John for the show and sound. All of the bands were great, 8-bit Dream was grand, I can't wait to see these guys again. Adam was very talented, these guys have a ton of future. Hours Before Dawn.. well I'm in no place to comment, we really had fun playing! Unfortunitly we had to clear out during Kickbacks set... or was that Metallicas set?!? I wasn't quite sure...

But once again, Very cool venue and thanks to everyone involved! - Sun, 5 Dec 2004 7:59pm

Alright heres an actual review. it kind of sucks about the alst minute lineup change but what are you gonna do. also i think everyone must agree that the victoria crew pretty much owned the crowd.

Eight Bit Dream - great show. great show. johns bass solos always kill me and the everyone else are sweet ofcourse also. beasicially they rocked everything.

Adam - Nice acoustic duo. lots of talent in those two but its not really my thing.

Hours Before Dawn - Great for this bands first show even without the falsetto. also loved the dress

Kickback - Not really my kind of music but they were good a it. - Sun, 5 Dec 2004 8:03pm

Well i must say i did enjoy all the bands. Stand outs were Eric Hogg (amazing voice!) Kickback (intensity they got it, did a great job covering the stage in water too)and Adam (good voice and some really cool guitar riffs). Eight Bit Dream and Hours Before Dawn were good too, but didnt seem to have the polish yet.

Only criticism i have, and i cant say who they were cause honestly i have no idea if they were in band or just fans, but i found it very disrepectful that there were a group of about 6 or so younger kids slaggin Kickback for various immature reasons (ie playing last, amps on stage, just to name a few). I havent told Kickback about that but i'm sure they'll find out reading this. I know it's always cool to headline and it sucks to open but ask whoever put on the show Kickback didnt ask for it, they were supposted to open and might i add expressed no anger about it to me. They said they were amped to be part of this and really looked forward to just rocking. Minus band members and parents, Kickback brought in 75% of the crowd (in 2 days notice too). I guess i'm just ranting now, but even though the performances were great and there was a great cause for doing this show, overhearing that immature slaggin of the local band really left a sour taste in my mouth. - Sun, 5 Dec 2004 9:29pm

yeah...the change of set order just kind of...happened. sorry about that causing some inconvenience to everyone. thanks to all the bands and everyone else for cooperating and being patient despite all the chaos. by the way..did anyone manage to get all the cover songs that Kickback did? - Sun, 5 Dec 2004 10:12pm

Hey we had a blast playing! No worries about the set changes, didnt really matter much to us we just wanted to play. No worries about the kids talkin shit either, they're young.. besides we were all a bit lippy at that age. I was really impressed with Eric Hogg as i always am, unbelievable voice. I was impressed by Adam too. Although it's not my style of music they were tight and had a few really interesting guitar riffs. I enjoyed Eight Bit Dream alot beacuse their singer looked like a young Ozzy and thrash/punky influence in their songs. Hours Before Dawn had some cool melodies. Thanks to Sharon for asking us to play, and thanks to everyone who came out to help this benefit show. - Sun, 5 Dec 2004 10:25pm

Oh and almost forgot the covers we played were:
Stoner Kings - The Ebb and the Flow
Alice in Chains - It Aint Like That
and like always we start our song "You and I" by faking people out with the opening riff to Alice in Chains - Man in the Box.

so there ya go 2 AiC tunes and 1 Stoner Kings songs apparently = Metallica lol - Sun, 5 Dec 2004 10:39pm

Oh it makes prefect sense. Besides i didnt hear it so i cant even be sure it happened. I'm more impressed that we didnt get called a ripoff of Alice in Chains or Black Label Society like we have been lately. Metallica is cool too. So ya if you wanna know what we sound like apparently it's Alice in Chains or Black Label Society or Metallica. Yup that really narrows it down. - Mon, 6 Dec 2004 2:46pm

first off thank you to sharon and lj and the tippy sound guy who was about to have a breakdown... all i know is we had a wicked time on stage. it's too fucking bad about people who like to talk smack about us. but in the end if you can't say it to our faces then it can't really be that important. As for sounding like metallica/aic/bls... we get that alot, why, is it cause i wear a metallica shirt to some shows (guess I should stick to my iron maiden shirt) and that we play an aic cover every once in a while or is it because our guitarist plays a les paul that we "sound" like bls... i'm sure if i showed up to a show with a brittney spears or snoop dogg shirt and sat behind my kit i'm sure some smart ass would say we sounded like them too. - Mon, 6 Dec 2004 7:28pm

I don't see how being compared to the band whose song you're covering is "talking shit" - Mon, 6 Dec 2004 7:58pm

Forgive Chris. He's a drummer and french-canadian, it's a dangerous combo. The talking shit part wasnt saying we sound like Metallica. Personally i dont mind being compared to great bands. The talking shit stuff was outlined in Jettison's post, but like i said i have no idea whether it's true or not so we're just gonna let it slide. - Tue, 7 Dec 2004 9:13pm

Hey, this is Jesse, singer from Hours Before Dawn. The Metalica comment Jesse made was a good natured rib = ). Nothing wrong with being compared to one of the most sucessful bands of all time. So if any feelings were hurt by that, don't worry about it, he didn't mean it as trash talk. As for trash talk in the audience... all I can say was "wasn't me." = )

Sorry I didn't stick around past a couple songs guys, I was just wasted and wanted to get back to victoria. You guys sounded great though. Really tight, very precise vocals. Hopefully We'll get the chance to play with you again sometime.

I had a great time. I love that venue, I really want to play there again sometime. - Thu, 9 Dec 2004 1:41am
