The Professor User Info... | Yeah that keyboard crowdsurfing was phenomenal. I hope someone got a picture of that. All around a really awesome show. I was stoked to be a part of it. Props to Mike for making it happen. The white eagle hall is an awesome venue, I really hope we can start seeing more shows there. All the bands that played were really good, especially the Immaculate Machine. I'd never actually seen them live before and I was blown away. - Sat, 27 Nov 2004 1:28am

KinChris User Info... | What's up with hardly anyone writing a show review? Everyone says thanks and says the bands were great, but that says nothing to the people that weren't at the show. I check this site all the time to see what the shows were like that I couldn't make it to in person. I need some substance. Here's a show review: -it may be totally bias and poorly written, but I'll try to give a sense of what really happened at the show. The Venue: White Eagle Hall is awesome. It has a real stage and some real stage lighting, unlike most all ages shows. It looks like a US high school ball room. Something out of a movie. Sorta reminded me of Back to the Future, when Michael J. Fox rocked out "Jonny be Good". Only not as big, and not as bright. I don't know the exact numbers, but I'd say 130-160 people were there. Thee Goblins: Nardwar's side project. Two guys dressed in ghost costumes. Drums and Keyboard. That's it. Pretty lame music, but definitely different. Sorta like sinister clown sounds. Amazing stage presence. I've never seen an opening band get the audience more involved. Nardwar brought the audience on the stage and made them do weird hand movements and grunts to the rhythm. By the end of the set, the entire audience was doing a morbid conga line around the hall. Very entertaining. Kincaide: I play in this band, so I don't think it's fair for me to review our set. I will say that, as a band, we agreed to support "Buy Nothing Day". Unlike Nardwar, we sold no merch. But since a lot of people wanted to buy our CD's, we just gave them away for free. 20 in total. Immaculate Machine: Very tight and interesting. A bit of an indie rock sound, but very diverse amongst songs. I was really impressed with their Keyboard player. Although she was wearing a retarded looking panda suit, she played the piano on one end of the keyboard, bass on the other end, and wailed out some perfect pitch vocals, all at the same time. The crowd was sort of a bit mixed for them. There were all into it, but some people trying to mosh and others trying to dance caused some dismay. Maurice: I saw these guys play the night before at Steemers. And although I wanted to see them again, I hadn't eaten anything in a long time and was beginning to feel sick. I heard their first song, then left for a bite. Their first song sounded great, and I'd assume the rest of the set went as well as their previous show a Steemers. Full of diversity, amazing vocal sound, catchy rifts, technical drums. Only criticism: a few too many ballads. These guys can really rock. The Evaporators: So I wanted to eat as quickly as possible so I didn't miss too much of Maurice. Unfortunately I got back just after their set and the Evaporators were ready to go. Or at least I thought. All their stuff was on stage. And set up to play, but the band just didn't come on stage. People were all sitting on the floor. I got the idea they had been waiting for a while. I always thought that as soon as you're ready to play, you play, so that people don't get bored and leave. I decided to leave. But as I was leaving they finally came on stage. Nardwar started the set with a very long and heartfelt thank you to all the bands and the people who put on the show. Although he did forget to mention Immaculate Machine, he still sounded quite genuine. The Evaporators were primarily older guys, and they all had some pretty strange, but cool suits on. Red and Orange with crazy pokidot patters. Visually stimulating. These guys definitely were have a good time on stage and getting into their songs. The sound like the Ramones but simpler. Kinda early 80's pop punk. Well played, but not really my bag. I left after a few songs, but I'm sure Nardwar put on some pretty good stage antics. If anyone can back this up, please submit a post. All and all, good show. The crowd was very receptive too all bands which is really cool considering there was such a diverse line up. It just goes to show that people are becoming more and more open to different types of music. Something I've been challenging myself to do for years. -there’s a show review. Feel free to disagree with anything I’ve said. I always love to hear other people’s opinions. - Sun, 28 Nov 2004 2:11pm
The Cause User Info... | Now for something completely different. I missed thee goblins play so I dont know what to say about that. I saw about half kincaides show, it was prety good. Its the first time i saw them since the new guitar player. Harder than before, I kinda preferred the sound with one guitar but still really tight and good chemistry on stage. Immaculate Machine were really good. They had some hiccups on stage, ie guitars not working and i think they broke their tambourine, but really great sound, lots of fun. I think lots of people enjoyed them. I LOOK FORWARD TO PLAYING WITH THEM THIS SATURDAY DEC. 4TH AT BIG FERNWOOD (wink wink) after Immaculate Machine finished Maurice was next. These guys are really really good musicians but kinda bland. Id never seen them before, Id like to see them again, Im sure I could get into it. ps. Really good piano. After Maurice played was The Evaporators turn. I dont think they took too long to setup or play, Im not really sure what Chris from kincaide was talking about. The Evaporators came on and yes it was amazing. This was punk rock like its meant to be... fun! It was a shame the crowd was small, and mostly teens. I guess once you turn 19 most people cant go to shows with "kids". I guess it really was a good thing. The crowd wasnt huge, but no scenesters hanging out too cool to dance/mosh (maybe a lil heavy on the moshing). Maybe they left when they heard the song about cheese? The show was amazing, own of the best ive seen, just plain AWESOME. Maybe the funny stories between songs, the audience interaction, or maybe it was the crowd surfing. The best part had to be when I, with everyone else was hoisting nardwuar and the keyboard. Holding down the key... and then him playing mid air. Great. The second best thing of the night was the plug nardwuar did for the gary oak show the next night. I think it was vin cat that did that, and thanks to all the people who came to our show the next night. - Sun, 28 Nov 2004 8:05pm
