Japanese Air Force User Info... | Yes, I know there was another band at the beginning of the night, but their name escapes me at the moment. The first band, whose name I can't remember, did really do much for me. Perhaps it was a bad night for them, or maybe they always have a low energy live show. Either way, not my cup of tea. Leeroy Stagger: Ass kicking goodness. They slammed through their set with the drunken prowess of kung-fu masters... who have mastered the art of playing music... drunk. Travis ripped out some great solos and Luke was a joy to watch on the drums. The band flopped around the stage, spilled their drinks and cursed at the crowd... and it was fantastic. If I could've had one thing different, it would be to have the bass player turn around. He spent the entire show with his back to the audience. The Dudes: What can I say. This is why I'm here tonight. I've heard nothing but great things about these guys, confirmed by Leeroy's band before the show. I've covered one of their songs, searched in vain for them on the 'net and listened to one of their CD's. I finally get to see them live. Great. Fucking. Show. When they come back, I urge you all to come and see this band play live. Just make sure you bring some earplugs, 'cause they like to play loud. Amazing energy on stage, great songwriting and all in all a very entertaining show. This alone was worth the cover price. When they started their first song, I think I peed a little. Run Chico Run: I haven't seen RCR since about 7 years ago, at Harpos, when they were a four piece and still wearing pearls. I'm happy to see that they've changed, very much for the better. As a duo, they know how to fill up a room with sound. I wasn't surprised when they played multiple instruments at once, switched places and then did the same thing. I had been for-warned about this and was glad to see RCR pulled it all off with grace and style. Great show, especially for a ridiculously low six bucks. If you didn't make it, I hope you were doing something worthwhile. ~JAF - Sun, 14 Nov 2004 11:54am
Livevic Scott User Info... | I saw the show in Van for new music WEST. And yeah I pretty much agree with all your comments. Leeroy and crew were awsome, RCR were solid and The Dudes were tight (and loud). It was my second time seeing The Dudes (saw them in Regina when out on a tour) and they were way better this time I guess I just wasn't in the right mindset last time. Also on the Vancouver Bill was The Salteens who were alright, but I was too drunk by time they came on to really make a good review =) - Sun, 14 Nov 2004 2:19pm
